I think I'm addicted. Just hit level 20 with my Engineer last night, and started dipping my feet into the more difficult missions... which quite clearly require a coordinated steam to survive.

And is it me, or is the Scout kinda useless by himself? The grappling hook is great for reaching spots, but useless for mining, since you either need a platform to stand on or to dig a tunnel. Same with the flare gun: great at illuminating large caverns, but little else. Think they might have to buff the time length the flares stay active, maybe even make it permanent at the cost of carrying less, because the (unlimited) ordinary flares work just fine most of the time.

Well, if you're playing solo, you have Bosco to mine those stupid ceiling or stalactite ore veins, and unlike Bosco, a Scout can pluck those stupid ceiling or stalactite secondary objectives, if you're willing to take some falling damage. The grappling hook is also hugely helpful when soloing Dreadnoughts and Caretakers, by keeping you out of attack range and giving you an angle on their weak points.

The flare gun's advantage over standard flares is that it can illuminate the upper portions of the bigger caves, which, given the existence of ceiling Morkite and cave leeches, can be rather important. While the flares don't last forever, they can last long enough to get through a big wave, hacking event or boss fight, keeping the fighting area fully visible. And even a bunt-out flare gun flare can serve as a useful marker to denote a specific tunnel, if there's no Engie around to slap some cheese on it.

The grappling gun can actually be used alone when combined with a power attack. I'm not amazing at aiming it either, but aiming your power attack a bit downward just before you hit into the wall will create a hole in the wall for you to sit in (and if you fail...well, if you didn't break you legs that time, you can grapple into the hole a second time).

The Scout is definitely less effective on their own though some real greybeards can still do it. The flare gun is also far better in larger caves and harder difficulties which will then make the flare gun nearly indispensable and incomparable since you won't be able to see minerals without it and acids spitters in the ceiling will probably kill everyone.

Apparently the Nemesis drone can pick up the HACK-C pod, canceling the process until you free and reboot it (and probably reconnect the signal pods). Wouldn't be surprised if he could do the same to Molly or the munition resupply pods...

Nah, I doubt Nemesis can grab Molly. Even gravity cannot grab Molly.

Also I just realized that DRG has leaderboards.

It only counts the time you've spent dancing.

So how does the cosmetic tree work?

I've trying to unlock stuff on it but nothing works. It's not letting me unlock anything else.

When you collect data cells in missions (up to a limit per season) or get to certain levels of the battle pass, you can redeem a scrip. Scrips are used to unlock a single part of the cosmetic tree and are the only way to.

Just realized how effective of a combo the Collete Wave Cooker and Flamethrower for the driller are. Granted, you need the sticky-burn build for the flamethrower and also modded the wave cooker to focus upon heat/cryo shock damage, but if done right you can even melt Praetorians and Oppressors like nothing else, save maybe scoring critical shots on weakspots with the Scout's M1000 rifle.

Yeah I heard it's pretty good but I still like to stick with the Subata on Driller so I can maintain the faint hope of killing distant Menaces and Spitters.

I wish the beer did more to the gameplay.

A pint of Red Rock Blaster can literally be the difference between life or death, while a pint of Dark Morkite can save you from screaming frustration over the missing five crumbs of Morkite you need to complete a mission.

I just wish there was some way to get those brews on-demand rather than having to hope that the daily special is relevant to your mission. Backbreaker Stout is quite niche in its usefulness, and Rocky Mountain is wasted on the Sandblasted Corridors.

[up][up]The way to make beer matter to gameplay is to drink enough to be heavily staggered and get onto the drop pod, just as Karl intended. (I'm told that finishing downing a Blackout Stout right outside the door as the mission timer is five seconds will cause you to be at full drunkenness for the entire mission)

[up]Slayer Stout, Rocky Mountain, and Tunnel Rat are actually pretty huge too. Naturally, Pots of Gold is the most important beer.

But yeah it's true Backbreaker Stout is almost useless.

I still think Dark Morkite is by far the least useful drink, because it's literally useful for only one mission type.

Now if it were rebranded as something like Dark Nitra, it would be a different story.
