Seamus paused for a second. He couldn't believe his luck. He had one more turn to change the duel around.
He drew a card from his deck, looked at it, then set it in his S/T card zone.
"Turn end."

Drake rolled his eyes and drew his own card.
"Oh finally something I can actually summon. Ernus, come and attend!"
He summoned Nurse Dragonmaid.
"Her summoning effect means I can bring back Parlor Dragonmaid from my graveyard to the field! And because that happened, Parlor Dragonmaid's effect goes off and I can put Ernus' true form in the graveyard! So that when Battle Phase begins, both dragons transform into their true selves!"
He smiled and propped his head up on one hand.
"That there is 8,300 damage split into three attacks coming your way when Battle Phase happens. Any responses?"

Seamus's Defense Draw flipped up to absorb one attack but it didn't matter.
"Noooo!"
He was rocked back by the dragons attacks.

Confetti shot up into the sky as a massive holographic banner appeared above the courtyard displayed WINNER alongside Drake's picture.
The crowd cheered and whistled. Vice Dean Bethory clapped from her podium.
"My what a performance" she praised. "An absolute dominating display. How about both competitors shake on a duel well fought?"
Seamus picked himself up, sneered at Drake, then pushed his way into the crowd, muttering more curse words and something about "rich kids" as he stormed off. This received plentiful boos from the crowd.
"...Well now. That concludes our opening ceremony. I encourage you to explore the campus and find challengers of your own. Oh but don't stay up too late, classes start early tomorrow." She waved by to the audience as Bethory disappeared into the Administration building.

Duel Academy Campus
Alejandra tsked as she saw Seamus storm off. "A poor loser..." She muttered. She perked up at the idea of exploring the campus, though. There would be others who would start dueling today, and for a moment she considered it before shaking her head. No, there would be plenty of time for dueling during the school year, and this was her first time on campus. It would be great to explore.Naturally, the first place on her list to go was the library. Following the guide signs, she quickly found herself there, and she grinned at the sight of the library building. "Books, here I come."

"That was a spectacular duel. Another powerful display of dragons." Ernie looks at the girl near him. "And yes, they can be cute too. Won't deny that." He gives a slight chuckle and pieces through his deck. "I wonder..." He then turns... to head towards the cafeteria. He hasn't eaten in a while.

Opened Ceremony
The rush of victory wore off pretty quickly when Drake realized a number of things about what he had just done in his first duel at the Academy:
Number one, he had established himself as a rich asshole with a deck comprised of cute maids and he had done the boasting and playing around to make it seem like he was playing the role of being a dude with servants. Also known as a rich asshole.
Number the second, he had handily crushed his opponent's probably fairly solid deck just off of two draws in his otherwise bricked opening hand. That meant his deck was strong but also just as likely to utterly fall apart if the opening hand wasn't particularly good.
Number trios, everyone at the Academy had seen him be a rich asshole and also a good duelist. That dread increased when he factored in that it also was a national and international broadcast. His father was going to hear about this, definitely; that was going to lead to so much more expectations placed on him...
Shaken and shivering, Drake retrieved his deck and stepped off the dueling grounds.
"M-maybe I do need that teatime after all..."
The vague humor helped a little, but snacks would help more so he started trying to locate the cafeteria.

Ernie soon finds himself in a pretty nice and hearty place. And I'm not talking about the pig food. He notices Drake and waves. "Nice job out there. It's good to see dragons just as they should be, showing off their power." Ernie says with a grin.

At the wave Drake kinda just wandered over and took a seat.
"O-oh I mean. Yeah. I'm glad the deck worked... I'm kinda passionate about the archetype but I feel like I overdid it back there..."

"I mean, did you have fun at least? That's at least some of the point. Everybody has their reasons for dueling. I wish your opponent was a bit more polite, though." Ernie says with a sigh. "It's just a game..." He sits down as well.

Ernie and Drake would find themselves with a third game.
“Yeah, it’s a game, but you’d be surprised how seriously people take it.”
Of course, that’s an Ignia taking her own seat with a sandwich. “Pardon me for dropping in...”

"Oh, hello. And true. Anyway, you both can call me Ernie. What's your names?" He says with a smile.

Drake froze up at some of the words these people were saying.
"It's not just a game though; it's the world's preferred means of conflict resolution. Out there entire national conflicts and the the fate of people's lives and livelihoods are predicated on the outcome of this 'game'. And here we are, being trained up as the next generation of professional duelists... Don't you feel that pressure?"
He promptly decided to shut up and eat some kind of snack...

"No, not really? I don't take the game that seriously. ...Didn't know it was that big of a deal. Popular, but." Ernie tilts his head.

Iggy takes a nibble of her sandwich.
“They even look at their kids like they do pro athletes’ kids. Expect them to take up the ‘family mantle’ and stuff.”
A beat passes.
Iggy clears her throat.
“Uhm...o-or so I’ve heard.”

"I mean, that makes sense. Many families have a type of job that they go into, and often expect their kids to do so. Though many are still pretty open." Ernie says while smiling. "And oh right, your name was Drake. I remember now. What about yours, miss."

“Oh! Right...how rude of me...”
The young woman drums her fingers on the table a moment.
“Ah screw it.” She mutters under her breath, then nods, placing a hand to her chest.
“Ignia. My name is Ignia Anna-Lucia Marietta Thorne.”
Her cheeks tinge with a slight pride, “But that’s a mouthful, so just Iggy is fine. It’s a pleasure to meet you two!”
Campus Courtyard
A pretty interesting duel had just taken place- and with nothing better to do, Thomas had spectated it. It was a pretty fun duel, though nothing to write home about. The general level seemed to be pretty good, all around, though, so he had not much to complain about there.However...!
It was with great dismay that the boy noticed that he had finished eating the lollypop in his mouth, and that he as such needed to get more. I mean, his body wasn't gonna produce the sugar it needed on its own, or something.
He heard someone say, or did he read it somewhere?, that there is a cafeteria around. As such! There he heads, still keeping the stick in his mouth. At least until a new one is found.

And so Thomas walks in. Grabs a lollypop, surely one is around- vanilla flavored- and then noticing a group of people, sits on a table by them."Heyo. Y'all're freshmen, right? You look like it. Like me, in fact. What'd y'all think of that opening duel?"

Well the duel was fun to watch. Tyler stop to wonder if the duel was as random as the staff wanted them to think. For a brief second she could of sworn that they were pick because of their decks. One was decent and the other was flashy. She decide to follow after the dragon duelist. Tyler wanted to pick his brains about his choices.

Tyler grabbed a quick wrap form the lunch line before joining the others. She wished it was a cheese burger, but she didnt want to wast time waiting inline for one. She deftly side into a open seat next to the group.
"I am freshman. Sorry for Jumping in, Im Tyler."

"Yeah, expectations for probably all of us are super high..."
Drake let out a sigh as the cafeteria situation became more crowded, he almost wanted to curl in on himself and just go catatonic but would be considered rude in most contexts so instead he just slowly nodded and munched on his snack.
"It uh... It went well. Maybe too well? The playing was nice, the winning not so much..."

Outside the Library
"I can't believe it," Alejandra grumbled. "Closed? I guess it is the first day, but," she slumped, "Closed?"With a sigh, she walked off, heading towards the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat instead. "Closed," she muttered. "Probably attending the ceremony or whatever. Hmph. Well, that's fine. I didn't really care anyways." Now, that was very much not true, but Alejandra included it in her grumblings regardless.
She saw a group of students at one of the tables, one of them being the duelist who had won the ceremony's duel. She shrugged and glanced around before walking up to them.
"Is this seat taken?"

Thomas hadn't even looked at the faces of the people around him. That's why, he had not even realized that Drake, the guy who had been chosen to duel- and who had won, no less- was there too. He smirked."Well well, who do we have here! The winner boy, no less. How's it feel, being the talk of the entire campus? Bet everyone'll look up to ya now. You think you can handle it?"
He laughed, perhaps just a bit evilly.
