It certainly helps that despite it being a harem story, Dx D has way more plot to it. It's specifically about Issei's rise in power through the hierarchy.

Dx D is a Shonen masquerading as a harem if we're being honest.

It's a harem powered shounen

A Harem Powered Shonen and eventualy Mecha with Issei's stronger forms.

The biggest Irony of Redo of Healer, amusingly, is that the other stuff the author has made is wholesome as fuck.

Maybe Redo of Healer is his way of venting?

Just curious, did Keyaru using the aphrodisiac to Kureha in manga only..?? According from r/anime, Keyaru did used the aphrodisiac in both WN & manga..

In the manga, he tossed a bottle of concentrated, experimental aphrodisiac at her, which she effortlessly sliced in half. She was affected by it, but stabbed herself to resist, followed by the sword fight ending in her slicing off his arm. He then retrieved his arm, which somehow confused her long enough to just stand there while he grabber her face and overloaded her mind with images of the slaves' POV, knocking her out. Later, after gaslighting her with "Flare"'s(yes, I know she's still her, but in this case, mentally, she's Freya wearing Flare' s face pretending to be Flare) help, she finally calms down enough for the first round of aphrodisiac's residual effects to kick in. While she's kissing him, he pours out ANOTHER bottle onto the floor, to completely overwhelm her, just in case she could still overcome the first round. The anime is more subtle about it, with him emptying a bottle near the window(letting the wind draft it in) while talking to her after "Flare" has left the room.

Apparently, over the past few weeks, HIDIVE got the Redo edition of the show for streaming (the middle ground between the broadcast and completely uncensored version) and is currently negotiating for the uncensored version.

I would presume the streaming is somewhat successful for them or they wouldn't have done that.

1) I can't process why a "censored" version is going to improve this work's reputation. If you're going to Refuge in Audacity don't go halfway. Trust me, it's still abhorrent, it just looks more awkward when the camera cuts away.

2) I skipped Episode 5 and went to Ep 6. Keyaru's rescuing people from his village instead of, you know, raping and brainwashing anybody. nope he does that to the guard NPC whose appearance he stole.

3) Apparently I missed an orgy between Keyaru, Freia, and Setsuna, and Kureha joined the group.

I've been musing over telling somebody whose only heard the plot for the first time "it's ok because they raped him first" but... god.

I've gotten into the (bad) habit of lumping all these male power fantasy harem animes under the isekai umbrella.

Honestly, that's understandable considering how meaningless the distinction is with these LN's all using the same setting and basic lowest common denominator tropes.

Well the main difference for Isekai is the character(s) in question needing to understand the mechanics of the world they're in before the new status quo is set.

Redo of Healer wouldn't look out of place in the isekai genre which is pretty sad.

Amazing, they got Youko Hikasa to voice Keara.

I mean....some people are into that type of shit ya know. I'm not here to kinkshame.

How popular is it, you know, at all? Because "a million women watch this show versus half a million men" is very different than "we polled our entire audience and both of them were women."

From what little Japanese I know that means there are more female viewers than the average anime rather than more female viewers than men. Which considering the average anime is mostly targeted towards male isn't saying much.

That makes more sense than what was implied in the initial post.

I wonder if those fans are also fans of obsessive, jerkass and/ or abusive guys from some Otome games.

Anyway, I'm disturbed that this anime is making me think horrible things I never thought since when I was watching episode 11, i suddenly thought "What a waste. He could have just *bleep* her, mind control and made her one of his harem. Heck, he even should have done the same thing with Flare's bodyguards in episode 2 and the genderbend Leonard. That way he has a elite group of bodyguards and a "nighttime company". which made go "What?!".
