And finally, the turning point! Just one more extremely uncomfortable scene to go and we get to leave the introduction

The Sparring between Ghislaine and Eris as well as Eris and Rudy's dances were pretty good to look at. And yep, Turning Point 1 is next. And boy, what a Turning point it is.....

I just wanna talk about the positives for a minute— the spar between Ghislaine and Eris, and the dance were honey-dipped eye candy. Wow wow wow.

I’m not even sure why Rudy sold the figurine. You’d think that’s the sort of thing he would keep for himself. So yeah, not cool that Rudy sold the model without Roxy’s consent. It’s seriously sad how little respect Roxy gets.

Eris had crappy parenting. And the men in this show need to keep it in their pants. I hate the prince who keeps groping Roxy, and I hate Rudeus for trying to assault sleeping Eris AGAIN. At least Rudy does rein it in.

Let’s not forget Sauros who seems like he’s abusing his authority to sleep with maids, which makes him an even crappier person.

Also did Rudy’s uncle seriously advise an eight-year old to use protection? Am I missing something? Does puberty come early in this world?

Anyway, ominous floating orb sure is ominous. That smells like plot.

The next episode being "Turning Point 1" didn't give it away that we're getting big PLOT next ep?

There is plot next episode, but I'd advise you to mentally prepare yourself for next week.

And yes, the Greyrat bloodline, particularly the men, seemed to cursed with horny morons.

Okay, the possibility that Rudeus is legitimately trying to establish Church of Roxy is too hilarious to not headcanon. Approved as long as that crappy prince isn’t allowed to join,

I’m terrified to find out!

Yeah that training session at the beginning was wonderfully animated.

I really liked the dance parts of the episode, aside from being quite sweet when Rudy stepped into help Eris - it was kind of neat how her issue with dancing was because of the muscle memory from learning to fight.

Ghislaine getting a wand was also extremely wholesome.

I also started to feel awful for the maids in between the library scene and the party. I'm sure they're paid well, but it must be awful to be so clearly hired because of the fetish of the family patriarch and his son.

Not exactly sure how consensual the sex was supposed to be at the end, and if the maid was upset at the situation or that Rudy saw her. Although given the previous way the author has written characters I suspect the maid was forced into it by the power difference.

ep 8: Favorite funny moments include Ghislaine literally having an ass of steel, and Sauros and Eris's mom's overly emotional sobbing at Rudeus crying act. And that ending with the Mana Catastrophe. Get ready, because as the name of the ep suggests, NOTHING is gonna be the same in terms of overall tone for the series again.

Seems like Rudeus acquired a powerful weapon just in time for whatever happened at the end of the episode. I’d assume that was a mass teleportation spell because our protagonist can’t possibly be nuked this early in the story.

It’s nice to get a glimpse of Rudy’s siblings and Sylphiette and Paul and the rest. Sylphy is thankfully doing great.

Also usual complaints about unnecessary horny, especially those shots of Eris and that scantily clad loli demon girl, no thanks no thanks.

Get over it, I normally wouldn't say that, but thats kinda gonna be what to expect from the series. It won't happen as often, but its still there.

They did remove this dailogue fromtg he WN/LN◊, but a lot of scenes similar to it happen after Turnining Point 1.

That lady sure changed her mind about Rudy in a milisecond. Felt like a lot of build up to absolutely nothing, with a throwaway explanation after the fact. Okay I guess.

Poor Eris, the plot is forcing her to like Rudeus way more than she should. At least she still kicked his ass. And it was honestly refreshing to see him perv over Ghilsaine, purely because she's a consenting adult. This is what we've been brought to.

So if this is that huge turning point people are talking about, maybe Rudy can stop being a creepy shit and become a likeable protag at last. Not sure what he can possibly accomplish to wipe away the massive stain he's left on his reputation, but let's see where this goes.

I'd say Eris does have reasons to like Rudy as much as she currently does (it's not like he actually tells people about the raw sewage that is his general mindset)- he's a decently handsome guy who has been by her side for years, taught her a lot of cool tricks and always just seems friendly. In all aspects but mental, he is a catch.

That aside, this episode was beautifully animated but there are some sore points. They really downplayed the bedroom scene, choosing to focus on a more comedic tone instead of emphasizing Rudy realizing that he did genuinely hurt her feelings and that he's not different from his dad. The scene is disgusting, so at least make it feel like it was worth it.

Also how cheeky, the comment about Norn being careful about being eaten by Superd's was some subtle foreshadowing about her future soulmate

So I’ve heard from some novel readers that the bedroom scene was a lot more serious than in the anime. There, Rudy was a full-blown horndog, treating Eris as simply a capture target in an eroge. But he realizes he’s being a shitty person (even imagining his pre-isekai 40-year old slob self being the one pushing down Eris) and he actually reflects and loathes himself for it. This is not the vibe I got from the anime.

Which sucks, because while that scene would have been gross and uncomfortable to watch, it is at least is an important piece of character introspection and acknowledgement of his moral failings. But the studio tried to make the scene... easier to watch? I’m not sure that’s the correct term because they still had Rudy grope a 12-year old girl, twice. So we got a crappy quote-and-quote fanservice scene played for cheap laughs rather than character development. Boo.

Always nice to see clarification of the difference between the LN and the anime in the thread. Although still in my opinion there was zero reason to not hit the same character beats in a non creepy way. You know, like have Eris react badly to something he does because it's what a dating sim protagonist would do. But she senses the insincerity in his action.

Anyway, Eris's Dad was probably joking, but what an awful father. I really don't think the author has kids. The Grayrat house politics was interesting though.

Really liked what they did with Eris' mother in the episode. Although I got the impression maybe the LN had a few more small moments of built up? I was thinking she hated Paul for some (almost certainly valid) reason previously.

Eris was also a sweetheart with Rudy's birthday. Certainly a continuation from last week.

The plot also in getting into gear, with lots of characters shown who'll probably be relevant sooner or later.

Also with the homelife back in the village. Is Aisha supposed to be copying her mother or learning to be a maid? Because with the second that seems tailor made to give her a complex and/or a poor sibling relationship later in life.

Oh and one thing that really stood out in my mind this episode was the lovely detail shown in the town in the opening. Stuff like a sewer in the middle of the street and lots of little details just looked fantastic and make the world feel much more alive.

I highly doubt her dad was joking, I don't think any adult in this series has restraint.

As for Aisha she's meant to be a maid, her mum was VERY serious when she decided she'd raise her child to be devoted to Rudeus, which obviously led to future resentment

Miss me with that bedroom scene which felt way more comedic than it probably should have been. Add that to a guy making a casual suggestion to leave his daughter tied up in bed and the character design of the demon at the end makes it feel like Author-san is dragging the well animated, standard fantasy plot going on.

Dang, that’s horrible for Aisha.

I hope that the so-called Turning Point means that Rudy and the rest get forced into a proper fantasy adventure where they have less leeway to be creepy and have more chances to throw spells and slash at monsters
