Shaman King anime reboot (2021)

You know, a big thing that makes it hard to write up fighting game movesets for this franchise is that Ryu and Faust don't do any fighting with Yamato No Orochi Go and Mephisto E. They don't attack the Ice Men with them, they use those Oversouls entirely for support and transportation during the Golem arc, and they move on to Sashimi Knife Susanoryu and Eliza Operieren shortly after.

In order to make moves of those two fighting with those Over Souls, I'd have to either make shit up (and I'm aiming for a Fighterz level of quality here) or I'd have to watch the anime (and I'm aiming for a Fighterz level of faithfulness here).

Faust is number 10 on Viniitube's Top Ten Most Badass Doctors in anime. Time stamp 0:44.

Here's something interesting. A Japanese mobile game has been adding Shaman King characters as part of a collab to promote the new anime. It shows Ryu and Chocolove's designs, and Chocolove's name is written as "Joco" IN JAPANESE. The card also conspicuously covers up his lips with his forearm.

Oh they are definitely gonna remove those in the anime proper.

I was hoping that they'd fix his lips, especially considering Takei has drawn them more like normal-ass lips in later art, including one Remix Track, but I NEVER thought they would actually change his name! Much less to the version used in English, that originated with the 4Kids dub!

Some more observations of changes based on the images from the game:

• Anna's eyes are amber, unlike in the original anime where they're black.

• Faust has his late-series outfit! With the giant collar and the ripped sleeves connected by string. The image cuts off before his knees, but he'll probably also have his dog legs.

• The stars on Hao's red belts are also red like in the manga, unlike in the first anime where they're yellow. Also, his belt buckle and earrings are silver like in the manga, unlike in the first anime where they're red and yellow. His gloves are also black like in the manga, as opposed to dark red in the first anime.

• Horohoro also has his late-series outfit with the red patterned headband and the black longcoat with blue trim.

• Jeanne's onesie looks more like the metal case from the manga than the fabric clothing in the first anime and her... ahem, crotch has the keyhole on it, but it also looks like a solid metal belt, as opposed to just a solitary codpiece with hip armor. Her eyes are also gold as opposed to the anime's red.

• Jun's hair is teal instead of green. Her eyes are also green instead of purple. The dragon on her dress is solid gold instead of colored in with green. Pai Long's face is structured more like in the manga. His eyes are also yellow instead of black.

• Luchist has his slutty, slutty Battle Outfit from the manga.

• Lyserg's cape is solid green with silver trim, instead of checkered with yellow stripes like in the anime. His jabot is also white instead of red like in the first anime.

• Ren's hair is black with purple highlights, like in the manga, instead of dark purple like in the first anime. His Oversoul is purple instead of green with a yellow aura.

• Ryu's collar and cuffs are more of a reddish-purple than the straight purple they are in the anime. His Oversoul doesn't have the energy flowing out of its joints like in the anime.

• Yoh's eyes are amber like in the manga, instead of black like in the anime. His Oversoul is orange like in the manga, instead of blue-purple like in the anime.

I love that the character art is as close as possible to the official manga character art, down to the exact same pose and everything. Also glad to see Ponchi and Konchi already wearing diapers, if there's one thing they can cut in this adaptation, it's their excessive nudity. They can be naked in Mt. Osore Le Voil, just up until Matamune makes them wear clothes.

I spoke too soon. Well, give them points for accuracy to the source material.

I was wondering why people made such a big deal about the diapers...now I wish I didnt know.

Something I always wondered: is Konchi supposed to be female? It seems very weirdly ambiguous throughout the whole franchise. A couple gags in the manga seem to suggest it and in the epilogue, Konchi looks like this, but Konchi has had male voice actors in the anime, in both the older anime and the new one.

Male Kitsune appearing as human women is a thing, apparently. So... who knows? I think he's a guy, probably, maybe.

Damn, the Russian comments were so excited for it, too.

Who knows. Maybe the Russian Censors will be more lenient to Shaman King. They havent banned One Piece...or did they.

I am watching the uncut 4kids dub version. I love Manta's voice. Its not female and cute like I am used to but its great.

Damn, I was hoping to not see those Tanuki testicles another time... then again huge testicles are a Tanuki's distinguish feature...

I’d say that means all SK spin-offs are now readable in English but there’s a new a spin-off that came out this month, SK and a Garden.
