A superhero story inspired to some extent by RWBY (Volumes 3 and 7 specifically). Essentially in a Standard Superhero Setting the gods of the various real-world mythologies exist (although Doc Mach, both a Science Hero and the resident Flash Expy, insists on calling them Ubersapient Theme-Associative Clarke-level Extradimensional Intelligences, or UTACLED Is) but left Earth for some unknown reason thousands of years ago. However, they agreed that in their absence each pantheon would be represented on Earth by a single human Champion, basically a combination of Shazam (a fragment of power from each god in the pantheon, but needs to transform to use it) and RWB Ys Four Maidens (the power automatically transfers to a new host, in this case someone descended from the pantheon’s historical worshippers, when the current host dies). The Paragons (basically the Avengers/Justice League/whatever equivalent) also monitor the Champions and keep their existence a secret. The Big Bad is a mummified sorcerer of some kind who was alive before the gods left and is working to steal the power of the Champions and concentrate them all into a single person (a loose Expy of Cinder Fall) to get the gods attention in hopes of bringing them back, probably because they’ve been Desperately Looking For A Purpose In Life since they left.

Any thoughts?
