No the Agarthans went evil because of the believe of their superiority and did not follow Claude's ideals. Hanneman develops new tech and never becomes Thales. I prefer if most if not all ancient tech has been lost during the time of the game and only Agarthan technology survived and the Nabatean tech is also very strongly nerved. In my new Headcanon, Nemesis destroyed most of the Nabatean technology.
Are you sure that Rhea was alive when it happened? Couldn't she just be a child during these events. The way Rhea spoke was mostly indicating that it happened before her.
If I were Rhea and wanna ban Technology, I would ban Bows and Only allow them to be used against non-believers. This also takes Javelins and Hand axes into account.

Sothis was sleeping after fixing up the planet, therefore I assume that Rhea was born during that time.
Plus Rhea recognizes the sigil that Thales uses to fire the missiles.
The Agarthans having all that shiny tech is WHY they believed they were superior.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. But she never uttered the word Agarthan or something like that, so she must have been either taught this in Nabatean history class or heard from her Mom.
Then Sothis should have been like Claude and give that Tech to all Humans across the world. Sothis should not have been Fódlan-centric. Also much implies that she had also Humans and perhaps many other States following based on the Agarthans myth and Ignatz retelling of events.

Just saying what it seems like the devs' line of logic was.
Rhea was at least old enough to go help found an empire whose express purpose was the downfall of Nemesis.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiBut remember if Sothis fell asleep AFTER killing most of the Agarthans then how would she give birth to Rhea or the other Nabateans?
As for why Rhea doesn't say Agarthan despite clearly recognizing Thales's sigil. Beats me, I have my own theories... personally, Rhea was trying to stamp out all traces of their existence so she wouldn't tell Byleth their names.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I might have insulted their intelligence, but I don't believe that was the lesson they wanted to teach. I believe they wanted to teach us that the desire for power leads to Oppression and that leads to Discrimation if fused with Ignorance. Claude learned this and thus created an Fódlan, where no one has the power to abuse anyone and share the skills and abilities with everyone to counter something like Agarthan.
The moral is that Prejudice and hatred is born of Ignorance and power and must be defeated via Open-minded ideas was and exposure.
Rhea could have been born shortly thereafter and I don't think Sothis killed the Agarthans on a systemic level. I believe the Agarthans did that themselves after launching pillars of light.
Also Rhea should ban Bows, Javelins and Hand axes this making Claude the best unit.

I didn't say that was the lesson they were trying to teach. I don't think it's that unreasonable to write a newly created Church fearfully banning the arms of their enemy. And old policies have make a habit of sticking around long after they're no longer useful. They're not correct in modern Fodlan, but it is pretty logical overall.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiReligions can always find ways to justify themselves to fit Society, Christianity and Islam have done that very well. A church banning science as a idea is stupid and should collapse fairly easily, because people don't want to be denied iPads and running water. The only Solace I think is that the Seiros church allows science as along as they don't build WOMD.
Also if they are afraid of distant Glasses then how come BIGNATZ with his glasses or Manuela with her Mannekin and Seteth's many books that cannot be possibly all written by hand.
Well, this is a setting where magic can easily do many things that Earth tech could do (and more), so...
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiLike Crest generating Downpours? Lysithea and Catherine would be a goldmine for Agriculture. Also Fearghus needs better Farmtechnology and the Alliance needs to get rid of Count Gloucester and Claude bring us Almyran tech.
Even more mundanely, the cooking sequences where whoever Byleth is cooking with just conjures fire under the pan. Little things like that. But yes, Crests provide a lot of great side powers that would be useful outside of direct combat, but the game kind of just sweeps them under the rug.

As a fan of Male Byleth this meme speaks to me.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Male Byleth is cool, at least he ain't Sex material like his female Counterpart.
Also his best Friend and student Claude are the best team.
Dimitri needs an therapist, not an Professor.
Edelgard belongs to prison, especially after her stupid stunt in the prologue.
And they don't look dumb, like an certian status obsessed Noble...and a certian prime minister.

Bylad doesn't look like a terrible fetish clown, so he wins in my book.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Yeah, I really don't like F!Byleth's default outfit, so I always change it ASAP (she really does have some otherwise lovely ones). I guess even if I couldn't, I'd still put up with it for the gameplay advantage and pegasus.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI hope not Sothis Regalia, that is too Godly for this realm.
Also I am the new Archbishop now and I declare all Bows banned from Combat except against Non-believers.
Male Byleth fits the very stoic personality more than female Byleth.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Nah, I used the academy uniform, plus the evening and day wear. They're all pretty good looking and while I'm not a fan of the skirt stuff, they're a vast improvement over the default. I did run the Sothis Regalia on M!Byleth, though.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI’d used the Academy uniform for female Byleth as well for the most part, but when i got the Enlightened One class on my last playthrough, I decided to just switch to the default outfit for the rest of the game - EO is the only one that looks more ridiculous, I’d wager.
And honestly, you do more or less get used to it after awhile.
Oh God! Natural light!Lorenz looks and is Ridiculous not EO, EO is God on Earth.
How can it even dare to call itself "Enlightened" when it doesn't even have a pegasus?
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiBecause Pegasi are unholy creatures and genderlocked.
Also I hate Genderlocked classes, I want War Master Hilda and Gremory Linhardt.
Though We have to rename Gremory into Sage or Archmage.
Which is better Sage or Archmage?
Marianne would be appalled by you.
Just pick both and call it "Archsage".

Yeah, Rhea lived in a time where humans grew arrogant, started wars and tried to blow up Sothis thanks to rising tech levels.
Even if I don't agree with this, I can see why Rhea does it.
Plus it's funny to make jokes over how Rhea is afraid of telescopes. Lol.
