She's pretty clearly a construct like Mangetsu, but far more powerful and specced for combat. It's her whole thing - that she's superhuman in most regards, but her creator treats her as subhuman for being a construct. You can't even call what she does 'lashing out', because she's doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing - she's just trying to find some measure of pleasure in a crappy job, and it's still not enough to prevent her from wanting to be done with it all, because only interacting with people who Magiaconatus brings out the worst in until she gets to torture them to death is a pretty soul-destroying way to live. Imagine spending centuries with only people like Anna to talk to, and then getting diddly-squat when you kill them like you're supposed to. Sadism is a necessary survival mechanism, and it's still barely enough to keep her going.

13. Suishou was destined to lose, but at least she went out swinging. May not have been her first choice, but she got her happy end anyway. Fight wasn't as good as last episode's, but the combined Armanox was neat. Magic is gone, meaning Shingetsu gets a vague existence for all eternity. Not sure she thought that through, but she might get some form of Mangetsu to help her properly exist for now? Other than that vagueness, the dead are gone. Kind of rare in this genre. Amusing how Rosa and Nene, the first two losers, came out super well overall.

Pretty good show overall. Standout characters were Mangetsu and Suishou. Appropriate given their shared trait. Fights were always a treat to watch. Story definitely suffered from the world building and rules being so loose that I couldn't tell what was supposed to be impressive or not. But on the whole definitely worth the watch.

Didn't really like the ending. The show hadn't really focused enough on those philosophical issues enough for this to really work. Just ends up feeling like a bad deal

Overall, a good series, but one with some pretty striking flaws. Great animation, direction, and sound design! But the plot is disjointed, lacking in explanations, and the tone keeps changing. Still something I'd happily recommend, but I feel like it could have been genuinely great if they'd but a bit more time into working on the story

Yeah, I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Really good, but a few generalized flaws stop it from being excellent.

So what did Magiaconatus want in the end? Test humanity's ability to learn from its mistakes?

Otherwise, the ending was more or less what I expected. Indeed, it's nice that the series commits to its developments and the dead actually stay dead forever. Though I expected Nene to be made retroactively taller rather than grow up overnight as seems to be implied here (unless I'm misinterpreting that "-san doesn't feel right with you" line). I also like that the last shot refrains from showing us who the transfer student is… if that's Mangetsu, maybe it was a last parting gift from Magia?

Anyway, I really enjoyed the show overall. Entertaining characters, great direction (save for some fights that were a bit hard to follow), and even a few genuinely touching moments − that "bye bye" scene especially. Plus Aoi Yuuki bringing her A+ game as Suishou.

It did feel like the story lost itself in not very well thought-out philosophical musings at times, but I've seen worse. *cough*fate*cough*

Except the dead didn't get to be dead. They remained deleted.

Final Episode:

Well, Shingetsu manages to defeat Suishou at the end and then wishes that all of the magic will be eradicated from this world. RIP Anna and Mangetsu. You won't be missed although seems that most of the people including Shingetsu are starting a new fresh normal life because why not?

Final thoughts: I quite enjoy the anime. The battle in the shows were quite intense but yeah, you could argue that story needs a bit of work especially I was lost during the last arc. Aside from that, it was good.

The Battle Royale genre is way too enamored with plot twists that bring the whole thing into question. Often times it makes the whole story a utter waste of time, in and out of univere, with no clear winner or a survivor that gained nothing or is actually worse off than they started, whatever they were promised for shanking the opposition turning out to be a big fat lie.

At least here someone got what they wanted.

The back half of the show got dragged down by the boring, overpowered, smug antagonist. Way too many instances of her getting pushed back and then going "LOL, how about no?" made the combat sequences feel predictable and almost filler-ish.

Before episode 12 explained what was Suishou's deal, I expected the final battle to actually be between Mangetsu and Shingetsu. Either because the latter got cold feet about the wipe-out-magic plan or because the former had to stand against her as a final test.
