We see Daruma as a human within the first few pages of chapter one.
Anyways great chapter. Hope the series is getting positive word of mouth in Japan. Id like for the series to not be cancelled please. I'm greatly enjoying it.
Oh. Guess I forgot about that.
One Strip! One Strip! So we all forgot about the most recent chapter:
Daruma slaps around the bad guy like he owed him money, and said bad guy is about to reveal that he screwed Kotsuga over it seems.
One Strip! One Strip! And screwed he did indeed.
Basically, Benkei changed Kotsuga(who's real name is Sanda) blood vial during the ritual, so that it would look like he can't become samurai, which resulted Yoshitsune attempting anyway due pride and desperation, and that got his wife(and Princess) to be stabbed, since she tried to stop it. That didn't kill her, though, it was Benkei that killed her later. Naturally, Yoshitsune didn't took it well and he reverted to Key form, which Benkei then took for himself and took Sanda under his "care", renaming him Kotsuga. Naturally, Kotsuga is pretty pissed about it.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Bit rushed but interesting… Also kinda shows how fucked up the Samurai system can be… Yeah, Benkei plotted all this, but it's Yoshitsune's assholish pride that nailed the coffin.
Although I'm a bit surprised Sanda didn't see Benkei stab his mother considering he was right next to them.
He seemed to be focused on pinning down his father. Benkei was pretty subtle about it.
The funny thing was his assholish pride was right.
One Strip! One Strip!Wondering if Kotsuga will become a samurai himself at the end of the arc
Can he? He's got no Princess after all?
Plus, after all the Samurai he helped kill, would he even think he's worthy of being one himself now?
One Strip! One Strip!Awesome chapter.
I liked Kishi switching between Ben's viewpoint and Kotsuga's memories to capture the full story. Cool way to subvert the whole 'magical security cam' trope and deliver the story in a dramatic way. How do we see Ben's evil grins and forming plot? Through his own reflections of course. Very cool.
Its nice to see concepts explored in greater details. Samurai suicide has brought about some interesting plots and drama.
To address an earlier comment, Kotsuga was wrestling his dad when Ben killed his mom and Ben was between the two sides. Kotsuga couldnt have seen anything.
Next up should be our heroes storming the moon base. Bring it!
Ah, I hadn't noticed that bit of subtlety. Nice touch indeed.
Aso is it me or does the last panel of the chapter look… different? I can't put my finger on why but it looks somewhat "cleaner" than usual…

Maybe Kishi did more then just initial sketches on this chapter compared to others, it really looks a bit more like his work more then just Ookuba's.
You know, Benkei's plan would have gone completely down the drain if Kotsuga/Sanda's dad had actually managed to stab him though, since the kids chances of becoming a Samurai were much higher than everyone thought. What was he going to do then? He's lucky the kid's mom took that hit.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't know, I doubt Kishimoto is gonna get more involved than necessary considering how 14 years of Naruto drained him. Ohkubo is probably figuring out how to make his art more… meaty? for lack of a better word. We'll see how that evolves.
He probably knew her well enough to know for sure that she would jump to protect him… but that definitely was a risk to take. Especially if Yoshitsune had managed to stop his hand at the last moment.
Ben's just a coward who was looking for any way to indirectly attack Yoshitsune since he seemed afraid of a direct challenge. Things played out in his favor but honestly that seems to be because he just got really really lucky. Yoshitsune could have rebuked him or ignored his advice, Okugata couldve just talked Yoshitsune down, or Yoshitsune become a hardass boss instead of falling into despair.
Does it count as seppuku if someone else is doing the stabbing though?
I do wonder who will have the gift of whipping Ben's ass.
Reading through the YMMV tab, I must ask, is Ben's reveal as a villain actually a "shocking swerve?"
In most online discussions, it was assumed that he was not heroic and likely captured the keys from the tournament combatants since his key collection is the first thing we see about him. He also looks like a giant demon with filed down horns......was anyone actually surprised by this twist?

Some people editng the YMMV have not...not been doing so in good faith, really.
Watch SymphogearChap 30 out on the high seas… Twas a good one. Some development for Sanda and Ryû, some more tinkering with Samurai technology and Hachimaru firmly in the position of the newbie in the middle of adults. Lots of cool shots too.
...One kilometre radius planets?
Secret SignatureMight be a mistranslation… but at least some of the planets seem to be artificial, so those being small wouldn't be surprising. What's more surprising is how they manage to have any significant gravity.

Was hoping that handsome bastard would get some more screen time.
And now, to battle.
One Strip! One Strip! So yeah, the Mangaplus TL has "10,000-km radius", not "1 km".
so around 1.5 times the radius of Earth. and presumably pretty deadly for most planets that you can stand on.
Secret SignatureYeah, original raw had "1万km", where 万 means 10,000.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.
Well, there was that flashback with Daruma and Yasha(his master), so it's not exactly new.
Ah, pagetopper. Nice!
