How much is knowing Star Trek STO specifically required, you would say? I've seen TOS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager, but I've never played STO (or any other Star Trek game for that matter) or really dug into the newer Star Trek shows.

You are reading this. Not required as we're doing our own stories and plots, general knowledge of Star Trek is required, basic concepts and ideas, but ultimately not too important.
Alright, cool, because I certainly love me some Star Trek, I just don't know Star Trek Online in particular that well. Now, thinking of character ideas, hmm... Something conventional, or more unorthodox...
Question, would a, "stowaway who proves themselves to be useful and trustworthy" character be able to fit in? Or otherwise some character who isn't actually a part of Starfleet but nevertheless is on board anyway?
You are reading this.Totally possible, DS 9 and VOY both made use of non starfleet lead characters. So go right ahead with that.

Interest
GIVE ME YOUR FACEInterest is always good. The Discord is ready and awaiting players.
I totally understand if this isn't acceptable, but this is what I'm feeling like trying.
- Name: Harry "Maverick" Calhoun.
- Age and Sex: 30, Male.
- Role: Civilian passenger, offers to be liason to those who don't like talking to Starfleet officials, or leading the way in dealing with matters of the less-than-legal variety, of which there's probably plenty of overlap.
- Upper/Lower Deck: ... Not sure, actually. Gut feeling says upper, rational thought says lower.
- Species: Purely Homo Sapiens.
- Personality: A self described, "pure blooded maverick" or alternatively, "man of a bygone era", Harry's primary trait is his silver tongue and near constantly cool headed attitude; basically nothing gets to him, except the idea of betrayal, or those who make excuses not to do the right thing. (Although it's his own idea of what the, "right thing" is.) He loves making new friends and can't stand being bogged down in one place for long; he craves travel and adventure, though he actually dislikes resorting to violence unless absolutely necessary... Or if he's really pissed off.
- Appearance: Caucasian man of average height, mildly tanned, brown hair kept pretty short and straight, clean shaven, green eyes. Usually wears a brown suit top and pants with a white undershirt, and nice looking though hardy shoes. Usually hatless but won't object to one, so long as it's a full brimmed hat; he won't wear any baseball caps.
- Backstory: Born son of a Starfleet admiral, Harry was of course raised up with the expectation of signing up himself, and sure enough, he did join the academy as a new cadet... But he flunked out well before graduation; he couldn't keep up with the academic requirements anyway, though he did pass most of the physical requirements with flying colors. Said flunking out, along with a fundamental disagreement with the Prime Directive, led to a divide between himself and his father that has only recently started to smooth over. He left Earth at that point, travelling to the fringes of and sometimes even outside of Federation space, and falling in with people who his father would certainly describe as a, "bad crowd". However despite his apparent opinions towards Starfleet, and the company he kept, Harry never actually committed a crime. At least, not that he was caught doing...
In recent times he's returned to Federation space and come back into contact with his father, finally easing their relationship once again. Though still not the biggest fan of Starfleet, Harry felt dissatisfied over how things turned out before, and negotiated with his father about some way to assist Starfleet without actually trying to rejoin the organization as a proper member. With his thirst for adventure and travel, he was eager for the chance to join a mission like that of the Avalon.
- Abilities and Skills: As mentioned, one of his best skills is his silver tongue; a way of swaying people to seeing or at least understanding his point of view, and talking down those who would rather be punching him in the face or shooting him. He's physcially fit, and in particular when really needed, a very quick draw with a pistol. Also, he's an okay though not amazing singer, likes playing the harmonica, and poker.
- Standard Items: His clothes, one if not two or three decks of cards somewhere on his person, and a harmonica. He would like to have an assault phaser on his person, even if it's permanantly locked to stun only, but only if the captain of this fine vessal will allow it. (Or, "Cap'n", as he'll prefer to refer to them as.)
- Other Notes: As mentioned, when it comes to "academic" matters like engineering, medicine, or science, his knowledge is fairly basic. Though there's an assortment of odd bits he does know, he is a far, far cry from being called an expert in any of those fields. Also, he really likes 21st century zombie stuff.

You are reading this.Approved, I actually really like how the character is set up, has a bit of a "Harry Mudd" kind of roguish charm to him.
Ah sweet, then looking forward to it. Hopefully we get some more people in.
... Harry Mudd? Harry Mudd, Harry Mudd... Oh, that guy. Well, intended to be a bit more of a good guy than I recall Harry Mudd being, but yeah a bit I suppose, heh.
You are reading this.Let's hope, would suck for this thing to be DOA.
Space, the final Frontier. These are the Voyagers of the Starship Avalon, it's continuing mission, to research new ideas, and develop new concepts. To reach, where no one has gone before.
Hello everyone and welcome to the page, this is among one of my more ambitious RP projects and I hope it lasts long enough. I've had this idea knocking about, been rewatching a lot of old Star Trek Episodes, playing STO, and of course watching Sfdebris, so I decided "why not" and decided to make this. I hope you stick around to make this something great.
This is a Episodic RP, in that it's treated as if we're writing our own Star Trek episodes for a season. Yes you read that right, "Season", as in we have dedicated "episodes" with contained events, though we won't be using a Reset Button like Voyager. There will be Continuity ala Deep Space 9 and even a potential Story Arc that ramps up to the final season.
As I am just one man, everyone will have a chance to pitch a idea for a episode, but there will be a limit of 10 episodes per "season" as I'm afraid some may drag along for posts. A discord server will be created to keep everyone up to date and so we can pitch ideas, concepts, characters, and episodes.
I made this RP out of a desire for some genuine Star Trek content on the RP forums that wasn't dead or finished, as well as a want for some genuine chance for storytelling with a ensemble cast. This RP is just one guy on this website thinking, "Hey why not?"
The RP is set technically in the age of STO, 2418 as I'd put it, though we won't be following any plotlines from STO as those are of questionable canon. The story itself takes place on the Starship Avalon as it explores the furthest edges of the galaxy at large, trying to find brave new worlds, though it also holds a advanced scientific research bay meant to work on new weapons and tools for the Federation in case another Dominion attack happens.
The plot follows our heroes as they just explore the stars, wondering what may come next, episode to episode.
The Avalon itself is based on the Battle-Cruiser design of STO◊ just more modified for scientific discovery.
A big thing about this is the emphasis on a Ensemble cast, and as we all know from Star Trek, the cast sizes can get huge, not everyone is gonna have the spotlight and that's okay, we'll try to get as many focus episodes as we can but make sure the character makes sense within the universe. I'll allow almost any species from Star Trek including non canon material such as the Kessok from Bridge Control.
However, there are a few exceptions that are not allowed, such as the Dominion Species, the Borg, The Prophets, and the Q, all for varying obvious reasons. Special note is that I'm not opposed to android characters or former Borg Drones, but they must be explicitly different from Data and Seven, be it a later android Data built to make more of his kind or a different kind of android entirely.
One last detail is the uniforms will be less Jumpsuit and more Jacket, as seen in this image◊.
Without further ado.
Character
Season 1:
Unless anyone else wishes to apply for the Captain, I'll be working on one soon. Approved players will be sent a DM to the discord. Let's hope this goes well and lasts.
