I always thought the idea behind the viruses was "drop them in an enemy nation, watch them turn into zombies, come in and mow them down."
Though I guess there are holes in that theory.
visit my blog!Well the G-Virus doesn't spread like that.
For the T-Virus however, your theory is perfectly plausible. Spencr had the virus engineered to teh point it had something like a 90% infection rate. Nearly every living thing will be taken over by it in no time.
Biological weapons utilizing the virus seems to have been largely the ideas of other people while Spencer was concerned with something that could utterly decimate all life.
I think they more like the idea of creating weapons with these viruses to let loose on their enemies.
Even if what you said is true though, the G-virus is still HORRIBLE for that job.
You'd get a city full of those G mutants and a few with capabilities similar to William Birkin. The G Virus is unpredictable, that makes it all but USELESS as a weapon

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelWhat was that T-G virus thing though? Which for some reason turned the villain into a woman too?
It was the result of the laziest writing imaginable.
In-universe though, it's a combination of th T-Virus and G-Virus.It grants the user control of electricity too. It's actually a very effective weapon until the infected suffers too much damage at which point the explosive mutations of the G-Virus take over.
Of course even with it Morpheus couldn't get through a fricin' door. (this was in a cutscene too) This would mean he has less physical strength than pretty much any Tyrant ever.
Overall I try to ignore Dead Aim and anything from it.

The G-Virus comes off to me like it might've been a stepping stone in creating a Super-Soldier serum, or maybe even legitimate medical research since it apparently gives you super-healing capacity.
If only it did that without turning you into a freakin' death machine.
visit my blog!Yeah, the TURNING YOU INTO A DEATH MACHINE part is kindof a biggie
Why lazy writing?
What's the difference between the Progenitor virus, and the T-Virus? I know one uses Leech DNA and the other doesn't, but what are the practical differences?
Also, is it me, or is the Keeper's Diary the creepiest document in RE history?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelAlso, it's implied that Morpheus (ever the narcissist) might've had some gender re-assignment surgery, which might explain his mutated form. Ugh...

Is that the one that ends with " Itchy, tasty"?
I always loved that one.
visit my blog! That's the one! (shivers)
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelThe Progenitor Virus, without any alterations, basically just damages the victims mind while increasing their physical capabilities. The T-Virus, made using the Progenitor Virus as the base and mixing leech DNA, creates, well, damn near every monster you see in the series.
Incidently the T-Veronica, despite its name, is made the same way; it just uses ant DNA rather than leech.
#IceBearForPresidentAnd, of course, UROBORUS is an advanced strain of the Progenitor virus.
So... can you make Zombies with the Progenitor virus? or were all those Zombies in 0 the result of Marcus' leeches?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelIt's lazy writing because the reasoning for creating the TG Virus is "we got these two viruses. WHAT IF WE SMASHED THEM TOGETHER?"
I just don't like Dead Aim.
As for Progenitor vs. T, I'm not really sure. There doesn't seem to be a lot of differences. We actually get a document in RE 0 telling of Progenitor's effects on various animals and we see those types of animals in RE Zero only they're infected with the T-Virus instead. Yet they still show the same effects as those described by Progenitor injections.

The zombies in 0 were made from Marcus' leeches which were carrying the T-Virus. If you can survive it, the base Progenitor Virus would just give you a strong, but dim-witted individual.
^ It doesn't help that G already uses T as a base.

#IceBearForPresidentSo... kinda like the tribal villagers that already used it in RE 5?
Wait, doesn't the Progenitor virus induce Rage as well? Otherwise, why do the Eliminators attack you?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizelnote that all the effects it lists as resulting from Progenitor pertain to the Eliminators (mammals), Lurkers (amphibians) and centipede (insect) we see in the game, even though they are T-Virus creations.

Do we know that they were T-Virus creations? I assumed that some of the old test subjects had just escaped.
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelThe Resident Evil Archives, a sort of giant canon guide and info book for most of the series, states that they are T-Virus creations.
There are also some other official guidebooks that confirm this.
I would give you the link to them but Project Umbrella seesm to be down right now. It's really the definitive source for all your RE story info It has translations of pretty much everything there.
Why do all these long-running franchises always have such complicated canons?
visit my blog!Couldn't they have been mistaken? I mean it makes no sense.
Why bother introducing the progenitor virus? Why bother including a document that details the types of monsters that the progenitor virus creates if you're just gonna thow the exact enemies documented at us then suddenly claim that they were infected with the T-Virus instead?

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelI somehow believe we're thinking about this far more deeply than Capcom did.
visit my blog! They mention Progenitor because RE 0's whole purpose for existing is detailing how the T-Virus was created. The T-Virus came from Progenitor so they had to bring it up.
I agree that it is needlessly obtuse. I thought they were all progenitor-based enemies as well but this is Capcom we're talking about. Competent storytelling is not what they're knwon for.

No, it's really not practical. It just has overwhelming power.
Umbrella at least understands power without control is meaningless. That's why Mr. X and Nemesis wear their coats. It limits their offensive ability but it also keeps them following their orders.
Once the coats come off, they're just mindless killing machines.
