Because surprisingly, no thread exists for this series. While One Piece, My Hero Academia and Black Clover are the three big action series of the Jump, Kimetsu no Yaiba is the shy new guy that didn't draw attention at first but then climbed to the top of the rankings before anyone noticed.

The story starts with Tanjiro, a boy with a sharp nose from a poor family living in the mountains, who one day goes to sell charcoal in the nearby village. As he's on his way back to his house, a villager invites him to stay for the night, because dangerous man-eating creatures known as "ogres" or "demons" roam around in the dark. The next day, he's back to his village… only to find his entire family slaughtered, except for his younger sister Nezuko who turned into a hungry monster. As a demon slayer appears and tries to put Nezuko out of her misery, he's astonished to find that she protects her brother instead of trying to kill him. The demon slayer sends Tanjiro and Nezuko to his old mentor so that the boy can be trained in the demon-slaying arts… and hopefully find a cure for his sister.

I've only read the first volume so far, but outside of the rather unpolished artstyle, it actually tells its story pretty well. I may start to follow this more seriously.

...Didn't even remember I had created a thread for this. >.> Anyway, that's good news. If the visuals are improved this can be really great.

Ah so Ufotable is branching out into long-running shonen anime.

I can see why, if all goes its really easy money.

As long as they bring their A-game & show a pretty as fuck PV, then boy will this anime have a lot of hype.

All that's left is for the content of the series story to truly hook people in.

Crossing fingers that this'll be the non Type-Moon ufotable anime adaptation that won't suck and won't fall to the problems that made Katsugeki, TOZX, and God Eater crap

I do rather think these upper Moon fights are a wee bit on the excessively long side...

Shame this thread isn't more active. More people need to be reading this series. Even though it scores high in its home nation its criminally underrated here in the West.

Also new chapter is out.

The light of the sun purifies Nezuko instead of damaging her and she's able to speak for the first time since the first chapter of the manga.

Its a great series. The fights cna go on a bit overlong at times, but this one was really good in the end. Also, Hantengu was bloody vile overall.

And Nezuko remains the best thing in this series. Love her.

We've got Voice Cast news. Natsuki Hanae will play Tanjiro Kamado, while Akari Kitou will play Nezuko Kamado.

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

Natsuki Hanae... The voice of Enmadou Rokuro. I'll expect Kamadou's voice would be like Rokuro ones or something like that cuz why not :P

You know, these two Upper Moons feel like downgrades to Gyuutarou, both as enemies and characters sad. Gyuu and Daki has really sad backstories. Meanwhile Gyokko didn't get any and we only see glimpses of Hantengu's, which portray him as an evil dude anyway.

Also Gyuu requires a pillar and the three main characters to beat. Gyokko get solo'd by Muichirou (admittedly, one of the stronger pillars), while Hantengu's strongest form can be held back by Mitsuri alone.

Mitsuri was a total beast, though. Hantengu took a LOT to take down.

[up][up] I really hope the anime contains the Gyuutarou/ Daki fight because that was a really heart-pounding and bloody slug fest of survival that truly sold the frenzied and frenetic nature of a battle. The last time I was this impressed by a shonen fight, it was probably the third and last duel between Mifune and Black Star in Soul Eater.

My favourite moment in the manga so far was the little speech Tanjirou gave after the fight with Rui. It really sold his good-natured character to me without being unbearable naive. In fact, his stubbornness in not giving up on the inherent innocence of humanity is exactly the kind of shonen determination I prefer. This reminds me of early D.Gray-Man and its protagonist Allen Walker. I really hope ufotable nails this adaptation.

I am a simple man, I like stories therefore I dissect and discuss them.

I think the biggest problem with the Gyuutaro fight was that it was a bit unreasonably long

[up][up][up]Maybe I need to reread it again. I personally would've liked if Hantengu survived though. It kinda pulls down the overall threat of the Upper Moons. Weren't they supposed to be stronger than the pillars?

Lightysnake Since: May, 2010

Hantengu got a huge fight. A nearly 20 chapter chunk dedicated just to that fight. he was fighting Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya and they were only saved when Mitsuri jumped in, and she was pushed to the brink holding off the hatred demon..and even then Tanjiro needed a special sword to finish the job.

Muichiro handled Gyokko himself, but he's a prodigy, and both he and Mitsuri unlocked their Markings, with Muichiro using a new technique Gyokko was completely unfamiliar with.

Upper Moons are all beastly, and have shown that a lot. It's just that the Pillars are worthy of their rankings. Gyuutaro wrecked his Pillar a few times and Muzan even said if he had just come out and fought to kill from the start without regard for his sister, he'd have won in a walk.

The red light district arc was really long especially the first fight between daki, tanjiro and nezuko.

I think Upper Moon 1 to 3 are the strongest because even Rengoku couldn't defeat Akaza and he was one of the strongest pillars while Akaza was only number 3

Upper Moons go in order of power, we did know that. And Doma and Kokushibo are way stronger than Akaza.

yes I know, I meant that the upper moon 1-3 are the real threat compared to gyokko and hatengu as you guys were referring in the previous post that they seem to be underwhelming, which is why I said that akaza while only number 3 defeated rengoku one of the strongest pillars
