"Like i said, he was dine incredibly dirty."

I think that is a strong word since he was barely a chararter before, but its feel....lazy, since the game is very minimalist(there is only five chararters, six if you take nat implied father being one and the devs of the game in universe, anyway) so Dan saying he didnt see him as character and make it so feel kinda "eh sure, whatever, sure" which kinda undercut potencial exploration of that particular trope of dating sim protagonist. It also make dan answering about MC and sayori relationship off because in the end, it is moot since the MC is a meat puppet.

Hell, if Monika create it, that does rise questions in unsettling way since....well, how that works? like, if she create him and he is a meat puppet then by extension sayori memories of him are very much fake, meaning that monika tempering the code goes so far as to tampering with Sayori memories of her life, or she just grab a random NPC that was suposed to be Sayori friend and reworkhim from the ground on? This was a natural devoptment the MC and Sayori were childhood friend(and therefore outside of her control) or she kinda planed in order to root Sayori out the equation?.

Im maybe overthinking it but I think MC being create by Monika actually open new intersting and quite horryfind possibilities of horror that is kinda shove aside.

[up] I think that, if the main character is fake, then they're more likely a construct of the game than of Monika.

The game seems to be built as a dating sim—complete with the main character falling for a girl no matter what—with Monika's efforts first attempting to piggyback on that, then undermining it.

[up][up]it's not equally as lazy as not developing MC. Especially when the damn narrative is character driven even without the meta aspect that it's a little frustrating when one of them is allowed to have good things happen to him and when plus does more than minimalist things like trying to expand the lore by turning ddlc into the matrix. He's ALWAYS been a character. Plus Dan usually say that in a "imo" way. Funnily enough, he said it's okay to to view him as a character and never disputes anyone that does in his 2020 stream. He also doesn't like it when people take everything he says as gospel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7k_8JRl09I&t=17972s

He's a person whose problem lies in his lack of emotional maturity, but still does his best. He was very patient with Yuri and Natsuki actually respected their hobbies, really did get better at poetry (despite being guilted in joining), went out of his way to do nice things for Sayori unprompted and his only "bad" actions are in service for his arc, like Monika. He adds a good point of diversity to the club in character and in interactions. As someone who uses the dokis in small fan projects, there are times he's very much useful.

It's weird how people try to push him into a "he's just a no-personality blank slate" box when he has one. and there's an actual blank slate in the game (The Player, us just there to be embodied by the game. It never felt like a love-hate relationship with anime with how he did MC, considering in those games they're usually nice to their childhood friends. I guess the only issue i have with him being a parody is he isn't a good one because the accuracy is questionable at times especially when most of it doesn't feel like it's an anime only thing.

Plus it's weird to see people criticize him for being a surface level stereotype while simultaneously acting as if developing him would be a BAD thing.

it's even funnier when you apply it to mc because even if you do develop him further, it wouldn't break immersion anyways because it's predecessor totono get the whole protag being a separate entity to the player thing down really well without breaking immersion that i don't think ddlc have much of an excuse lol.

Monika never created MC. That's just a speculation from the MES staff, especially when it ends with "or am i only reading too much into it" Monika's not a good coder and it wouldn't make sense she'd be able to create him when she can't be fucked to make her own route and keep the game from glitching out. Regardless, it doesn't change that he got the short end of the stick. Dude didn't ask to be linked to the player. He deserves so much better.

Oh and sorry if it feel like I'm causing problems over it. I didn't mean to get that upset.
