Is there any way I could make a trope page that was strictly private and for fun? A friend of mine and I are working on a story in prep for a game, and we frequent TV Tropes. We thought it'd be fun to try and trope the characters and the game itself as we work on it, but we mostly want it to be between us as a fun thing. Is there any template or easy way to set something like that up without the risk of other people watching our stuff (not that anyone would want to) and messing with it?

(Yes, I'm aware of the "write them down in a word processor" method, but I thought it'd be fun to try messing around with the TV Tropes page layouts.)

I like birds.

There's nothing private on TV Tropes, at least wiki-side. So no, we don't support what you're asking for, nor do we have any plans to.

The closest thing would be a sandbox page that isn't linked anywhere, but it would still show up in you and your friend's edit histories, and the recent edits page. A shared Google Doc would accomplish what you're asking for in that the doc can be made entirely private to you and your friend, albeit without supporting wiki markup.

There are two things I can think of:

  • DarthWiki.Unpublished Works: You may create a page on Darth Wiki, but it is not private and is accessible to others. But I would say it does not generate that much interest anyway.

  • Personal messages: You can send each other PMs. I think the wiki mark-up is supported in them.

Wiki markup is supported in PMs, but using them for anything much longer than a brief message is pretty terrible, because the message viewing box has its own scrollbar and it only shows around 7-8 lines of text at a time.
