LEMME STAB MECHS WITH OTHER MECHS
Edited by VutherA on Jan 3rd 2020 at 12:09:39 PM
Beta for backers is coming out on the last week of March, includes campaign missions.
Beta version got delayed due to the Corona virus but they will release it asap.
From June 16th - 22nd you'll be able to play a free demo for Iron Harvest on Steam!
All right, it's nice to finally say it seems pretty fun.
I wasn't too sure about unit-weapons swapping since I'd reason that would rather dilute unit distinctions, but I'm not complaining about it in practice.
The mechs handle great. If you ever screamed to the sky "PATHFINDIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG!" after your tank exploded while playing Company of Heroes, that's probably not going to happen in Iron Harvest.
Another CoH comparison is how quickly units reinforce and heal while back at base. It is seriously fast, there shouldn't be a lot of problems with an early anti-infantry mech rush catching you off-guard and proceeding to kill your units within your own base.
It's still definitely not complete though, but it's capturing my confidence.
Preview on the Rusviet faction.
Cinematic trailer including release date.
Man, those kids in the snowball fight tutorial have the most annoying voices I've ever heard given to kids, period.
And sadly, the game seems rather unstable. The screen has theses constant old CRT-like lines whenever I'm scrolling around the map, and it crashed twice while playing the campaign.
I really want this game to succeed - it's been awhile since we had a high-quality RTS in the vein of Company of Heroes, after all - but if it's going to be a glitchfest at launch I think I'll wait until a Steam Sale hits.
Well it's in Early Access right now, isn't it?
It's not far off from launch, now. Yeah they might fix some bugs, but often most will remain for awhile after.
I have to say after playing the demo I am a bit disappointed. The maps feel kind of cramped and the bullet sponge nature of the enemies is a big let down.
Who watches the watchmen?Company of Heroes was kinda like that too. Even if enemy infantry were literally shooting each other at point blank, it would take a moment before any of them would score a kill. At least Iron Harvest shows them getting into fistfights.
Except in the Company of Heroes, they died quite a bit quicker. This is even worse.
Given that we get some cool new diesel punk war machines and other goodies it would be nice to have the map size to maneuver a bit.

And the game has been released!

Your vid link is a bit fubar.
Who watches the watchmen? That was quick. Some Youtubers manage to finish the game.
So the whole conflict was caused by a secret organization called Fenris who want to take over Europe by using their agents in each of the three countries to sow conflict. Plus you fight the Fenris faction in the Rusviet campaign and they are technological more advanced than the other factions.
Iron Harvest now has campaign co-op
This update is also including new maps and the ranked mode.

Are you ready for FREEDOM coming to save your country?
Operation Iron Eagle Dlc, which features the 4th new faction, Usonia, an expy of the US, will be out on May 27!
That was unexpected. Instead of not-America going to Europe, they're going to not-Arabia to "liberate" from Saxony.
Weird that the America analogue is called Usonia but is referred to as "America" in dialogue.
Unless it's a similar real-life thing where the full name is the United States of America but everyone just goes "America".
