I don't think they're available outside of Japan yet, so no.

But apparently the only thing they added is a scene with Bondrewd and Prushka at the end…

Well, Fathom Events actually did dub and sub showings of the movies

Yeah, the addition was Bondrewd and Pruschka.

And a nice after movie interview doc with the anime staff

While the movie may not be out anywhere I can see it, the OST by Kevin Penkin is on the net, and it is just as great as I had hoped.

Also, there is a track called The Rumble of Scientific Triumph. And it is sung by a choir of children.

Unfortunately not, and that is a missed opportunity if there ever was one. evil grin

Now for finding the song used halfway through the latest trailer, what little we got then sounded pretty good. Edit: found it, the track Water Sanctum.

Glad to see the reactions to the movie OST have been enthusiastic, so all the more reason to not listen to a bit of it until hearing it in the movie itself. I held off when the first soundtrack came out with the yet-unheard Tomorrow, and oh boy did that pay off.

The reviews seems to be positive. In yahoo movie japan it has a current audience rating of 4.53 out of 5. But man, R15 rating huh? Wonder how brutal it is. Been a while since i saw a mainstream anime get that rating

It's... not pretty. If you've seen the series you've already seen some of what Bondrewd is about, but the movie will likely cover what Bondrewd did to his test subjects in a lot more detail, including (SPOILERS for the movie-adapted arc) Pruschka, the last living test subject, being converted to a just-barely-living cubic mass and liquefying all over Riko.

It's going to be fucked up, is my point.

It's been fun.

[up]yeah, i've read the arc and how brutal it is. Its just that, i thought maybe they'll tone it down a bit for the movie you know? But man, seeing the R15 rating, it seems they didn't. Considering you live in Japan, will you be watching it?

I haven't decided yet. Probably not, given my work schedule (which is to say, busy). The scene in question also made me feel sick reading it, so I don't know how well I'd handle it animated.

It's been fun.

A sequel series has been announced: https://twitter.com/miabyss_anime/status/1218383008161419264?s=19

A season 2 i presume, potentially covering vol 6 - 9? If the mangaka can finish 9 at some point that is.

Well, the Illburu arc seems to be entering its climax so hopefully it won't take too long.

I wonder what they're going to do about Faputa and Vueroeruko, and things like that. So far they've been really good about toning the Squicky pedophilic aspects of the original manga so it comes off as palatable levels of awkward and humorous in the anime. It's the primary reason I don't want to read the manga, as good as the art and storytelling is.

Betting the Bondrewed movie will get the Gundam Unicorn treatment and be converted into Episodic length so that it can be attached to the Sixth Layer arc that comes after it.

I wonder when the third movie will ever be released in these circumstances.

Really unfortunate timing for anime movies period this year

Reposting this from the manga thread, regarding Dawn of the Deep Soul.

Whew, that was intense…

The action was a lot easier to follow than in the manga, I must say. And the horror is as perfectly repulsive as can be. tongue

I’m a bit surprised they kept the dick jokes, though especially "Papa’s rod". >.> I think Prushka was more busty than in the manga too?

Anyway, it was a blast. I just wish they had extended the epilogue a little like they did with episode 13; it’s fine as the ending for an arc, but as the ending for a movie it left me a little hungry. But I guess there was too little time for that.

Yep, that sure is everyone's favourite loli-shota guro anime. Some interesting ideas, but a lot of "was that really necessary?" as well

Needed more time to get to know Prushka

Not really feeling the Bondrewd hype. He's a monster without much depth, and in a way I've seen several times before

The depth is the context he exists in. Everything he did was done in more messy, inefficient ways by previous cave explorers until he showed up. He seems like an absolute monster because he made himself personally responsible for all the awful, ugly sacrifices necessary to explore the Abyss. The fact that he really did try to sacrifice himself as much as he could before bringing in anyone else is particularly telling.

The main question is mainly whether exploring the Abyss is actually worth all that, not whether Bondrewd is some uniquely evil aberration.

What's precedent ever done for us?

So I’m not going to be reading the previous posts for fear of spoilers, and I just wanna ask, which chapter corresponds to the end of the movie? Thinking about catching up on the manga.

On the movie itself: screwed up in some fascinating ways, and some... questionable ways...
