It does indeed. There's a helm and rudder made from lurker bark and a lantern with a live blight inside (which are only cosmetically different from the previous lanterns and helm, it seems), a living steel anchor which seems to be just straight-up better than the current upgrade (so I'm wondering if they'll change it), a set of sails made from palm leaves which are extremely fast but actually reduce your Sail HP, and a flamethrower made my Magranites which has atrocious range (0-75m) but reloads in only 2 turns. So, I mean, if any of you liked the ship combat, that would be kind of cool.

As far as crew goes, so far I've found an Aedyran cook named Haema in Port Maje and Ponamu Bird-Scorned, who they keep mentioning, in Tikawara. He was the vendor they added to the first game who sold a bunch of Deadfire stuff, and I think there's a statue of him in the palace.

I just mainly want ship upgrades that boost travel speed.

The new sails are the fastest in the game and cheap, too, since they tank your sail health on smaller ships.

Shouldn't be a problem for my galleon, then.

Ya know, problem with these free dlc is that they keep releasing stuff that would be nice to use in new game character creation [lol]

A question about Maia: Apparently, from what I've read, she leaves if you side against the RDC (meaning choosing to back the VTC or Huana), unless you learn of their quest to assassinate the queen and refuse, then she will happily help you slaughter her own faction. Is this true? It's honestly quite hilarious

Oh yes, she'll totally do that. But I think she still leaves if you go side with VTC or the Huana afterwards. Unless you leave her on the boat and don't talk to her, that is. It's... all a bit wonky.

It would been cool if there's an option to convince her and you'll have to fight her if you fail (like in Dragon Age 2), but man, what a total badass grin. And from what I've seen here, it's possible to ally with the Huana and still get her ending, so I'm hoping it's not a bug

Yeah, that's gotta be bugged, because I think if she's *not* in the party, you get a message from her saying she's leaving the ship pretty much the moment you walk out of Imperial Command.

@Spooky Mask I'm thinking the free DLC is another part of a push to give the game more replay value than the first one, along with the more open map and the thirty-odd subclasses. grin.

So I finally got my first bits of Legendary gear. And all I had to do was wipe out a slaver operation.

Does anyone know an easy way to get to negative rep on a companion for the achievement?

The recent patch gets rid of the cheap way of doing it.

The shrine doesn't work anymore?

Well, uh, I don't know how to do it outside of shrine if you want to do it fast.

Yeah, looks like they took out Pallegina's negative reaction to praying at shrines. I'd say if you just start an evil playthrough and deliberately try to do the things you know will piss Aloth and Eder off it shouldn't take too long to wear them all the way down, though.

Well crud. I'm already too far in to get it in my current playthrough.

At least getting the rest shouldn't be too tough. All I need to trigger a mutiny is to starve my crew, right?

Speaking of which, anyone else really annoyed by "achievements" that require you to deliberately play badly?

Not so much badly as evilly. It's Obsidian, they put a lot of work into their Dark Side run content. I actually found it was a lot more finicky getting the mutiny to trigger than anything else. I kind of wish running out of resources was more of a possibility. Maybe an extra Hardcore mode like in FNV.

There's playing evilly and playing badly. Playing evilly would mean doing things like using the Skaenite pool in the previous game.

Deliberately going out of your way to trigger a mutiny otoh is more like playing badly on purpose. Like if there was an achievement for dying repeatedly.

I suppose it does sort of require playing badly because the map's so small and the food supplies are so abundant, yeah. But it does lead to a bunch of shipboard events you wouldn't get otherwise, so it's kind of worth it. It really should be tied to morale and nothing else — that was what I was originally assuming, which made it harder to get.

So I guess I need to temporarily remove the food and water supplies from the ship and sail around for days. Then reload a previous save after getting the achievement.

Temporarily remove food and water and wipe out all your money, I believe it is.

I guess I'll buy a bunch of junk I don't need (including the literal junk) to drain my coffers then.

See what I mean? What kind of "achievement" requires you to deliberately make yourself broke, starving, and thirsty?

Kind of a funny one?

*shrug* I mean, it's easier than soloing the game on Trial of Iron/Path of the Damned, I'll give you that, but it also doesn't take as long, so I don't know if that makes it any more or less pointless as far as "achievements" go. It's just a matter of what you enjoy doing, and mining the game for additional content that doesn't show up unless you make certain (occasionally less than optimal) choices is as much of a valid way to play as anything, really.

Normally I don't really care about achievements anyway. The difference is that these achievements grant you actual gameplay bonuses in future playthroughs.

So I finally finished my first playthrough and am now giving a second one a shot with Ghilz's Fighter / Cipher (Psyblade) build. With as many of the Blessings I can get (all but that ship captain one).

Wonder if I'll be done with this one before the first DLC comes out.

Reminds me of New Vegas, where the critical path is actually fairly short if you're not trying to do everything.

For some reason the fully-explored world map is the most expensive blessing, but I found it to be the least useful... although maybe that's a playstyle thing, probably not everybody combed the whole map in their first run. Still, maybe if there were more randomly spawning ship/monster encounters while you were sailing, that could make it worth getting. Maybe in the DLC.

I also find it kind of funny that the only path (besides bugging out on your own) that doesn't alienate at least one party member is the Principi path. Royal Deadfire causes Tekehu and Pallegina to leave, while VTC and Hazanui causes Maia to leave. But everyone likes (well, tolerates) pirates. Granted, that's probably because the pirate path doesn't require going out of your way to piss off one of the other factions. It did lead to a bad ending for Pallegina though.
