I finished the first model of the Shadespire Warband Garrak's Revenge this week, Targor the Bloodreaver. I think he turned out quite well, especially as this was the first time I have tried out doing blood splatter using this method.

[up] Nice work! The blood splatter looks good. [awesome]

Started work on Dante today...hopefully I'll get him done before I leave for my trip next week.

I finally got around to finishing the base for my Blood Angels Imperial Marine, so he's ready for the tabletop.

Looks good. What did you make the base out of?

It's just pieces of cork sheeting I got from Hobby Lobby. I have two thicknesses that I'm working with for my Blood Angels models and am doing varying levels depending on the type of model. You can see how they change in my BA folder.

Finished Commander Dante this evening. Going on a 3-week business trip on Thursday, so Guilliman's gonna have to wait a while.

[up]Looking good, I like the darker gold you did him in more than the brighter version I did a while ago. The lightning on your axe is a lot better than mine as well. I am quite jealouswink

[up] Thanks. smile I actually screwed up the lightning, I overdid the white top effect and had to try to correct it.

I have started painting another Blood Bowl team, the Solland Knights Human team. I based the colours on the destroyed Empire province of Solland that I tried out ages ago and think I did a relatively good job with their scheme.

[up] Not bad, gives me a bit of a Pittsburgh Steelers vibe.

[up]Thanks. (Looks up the Steelers strip) Cool it is quite similar.

My slowly continuing project to paint the Chapters of the Astartes continues with this Crimson Fists Marine that I painted a few weeks ago. I feel he turned out relatively well. I am particularly happy with the freehand Chapter symbol and the base.

[up] You did a lot better job with that freehanding than I could've done. Nice![tup]

[up]Thanks. I was a mostly worried about the circle around the fist but it did turn out relatively nicely.

After much beating around the bush, I have started working on my Wraithguard and decided to do a test painting on one of the Wraithblades. This is also my first attempt at highlighting. Here's how it's turning out so far.

I have to say two things: 1. Trying to paint when you're in a bad mood is probably not a good idea. However, 2. it does help relaxing. [lol]

... And that's called jazz!

I have to agree. Painting while in a bad mood can be quite frustrating but it is one of the few things that can relax me these days.

I paint things that don't require precision when I'm tired or in a less-than-stellar mood.

So basecoats and washes!

Recently I painted Orikan the Diviner in the colours of my own Zethekh Dynasty. Other than the usual 'Fine'cast issues with the staff, I feel he turned out reasonably well.

[up] He did turn out well. I'd thought about picking him up a time or two when I was still doing Necrons but was always a little intimidated.

[up]Thanks. The fragility of the resin aside, he was actually a lot easier to paint than I thought he was going to be.

Wow, are resin minis that fragile? I get worried just by painting the swords of my plastic Guard and thinking they might fall off, hand and all. In any case, nice Orikan!

[up] I can't speak for Forge World's models, but GW's Finecast can be very easy to break if the piece is thin enough. I broke two separate parts on my Imotekh model when I was putting it together, and broke Dante's ax while trying to straighten it...fortunately I was able to pin it with no issues.

Yeah, while it is better than it use to be, the resin that Games Workshop uses is somewhat lacking when it comes to thin parts, having an unfortunate tendency to warp and/or break quite easily. There is a reason some people call it 'crapcast'. The Forge World resin is better but does need to be washed before use.
