For Fire attacks, the most common one I see is Bastiodon with Flamethrower. Steel also tends to not do so great against Water or Electric, so I'm surprised your Lanturn and Ludicolo aren't putting in more work there. Like, my Alolan Raichu can go head to head with Registeel and keep up, and I've also seen a million Azumarills carry Hydro Pump to put the hurt on my own Registeel.

Ludicolo is running grass and ice which also doesn't really do much damage to steel types. It's hit or miss using it to counter regi, and skarmory tends to wreck it hard.

Lanturn, on the other hand, is just one mon, if I use it against skarmory or regi, it usually ends up not having enough health left over in case the other guy is throwing something like altaria or umbreon.

Plus, vulnerability to grass. Leaf blade in particular as ludicolo takes neutral damage against it and snorlax still gets more of its health taken off than ideal.

I guess if Ludicolo is running Ice, you'd have to rely on that to take out Altaria. At least there you shouldn't take SE from the fast attack. This would free Lanturn up to handle the Steel stuff. I guess you'd still have issues with a team that has both Skarmory and Registeel, but I'm not sure how many teams are going to run that comp. Actually, Ice does neutral to Skarmory, so Ludicolo might be to able to cause it issues there (I know it really doesn't appreciate it when my Alolan Ninetales dumps an Ice Beam on it). What's Snorlax running, anyway? Superpower is SE against Steel and neutral to Grass, which could let it provide some coverage for Ludicolo and Lanturn. Otherwise, could be worth considering replacing it with Bastiodon.

I don't have bastiodon. Snorlax is running lick, body slam, and superpower. Have been coming across teams that tend to have at least two out of altaria, skarmory, regi. Paired with a fighting or grass type means my team is kinda dead.

Superpower is good for like one use due to the debuff as I'm still counting on snorlax to be able to tank attacks for later. I'm assuming the stat buffs and debuffs still go away upon switching? Was kind of a surprise when I found out that energy is stored, and that's how other people can throw multiple charge moves in a row at me.

Buffs do not fall off, but debuffs do. Yeah, energy is stored and its management is one of the few strategic aspects of a given match.

Altaria sounds like your biggest pain point here, since your team should be able to handle Skarmory (Electric eats it) and Registeel (Superpower from Snorlax and either Water or Eletric moves from Lanturn). Trying to Ice Beam through Sky Attack spam could work, but probably requires a shield advantage and I've noticed people are quite fond of leading with their Altarias. You could drop Ludicolo for something that has a better match up against Altaria, but then that will weaken your ability to handle Whiscash and Swampert. Another option would be to swap Snorlax out instead, running something that hard counters Altaria and then swap Ludicolo's Ice Beam for Hydro Pump.

I finally managed to complete the research task requiring you to do three Excellent throws in a row. I have Solrock to thank for that; getting Excellents on those is a bit easier than other Pokemon.

Grats! Slowpoke is another good target that is currently spawning in raised numbers.

Ultra League started today and I poked back into it. Definitely feels weird, as as this point my Ultra team has gone from my most practiced to my least practiced. I felt like my play was getting pretty tight with my Great League team, but now I'm having a lot of, "Hell if I know" moments. Not as familiar with the match-ups, so I'm wasting shields and not making particularly good hot swaps.

I need 35 more Psychic or Steel types for the Celebi quest, so I am also appreciative of the current event.

Edit: 31, now.

Alright, after the most recent round of battling, I have concluded:

The most frustrating loss is when one mon wrecks your entire team. That just leaves you feeling like the game is stupid unbalanced.

A very close second is losing by just one bit. That just leaves you feeling like there's no reason for you to have lost, especially if it appears you were doing everything right and you see no reason the other guy somehow got off a charge attack before you.

"Okay" losses are basically the ones where the other guy's on his last mon with a significant amount of health left, as usually that meant they had a combination of better mons and better play which also doesn't leave you feeling like you coulda had them. Also, usually you just end up quitting mid-fight anyway, so less wasted time.

If you both use charge moves at the same time, the Mon with the higher Atk will get to use its charge first.

Beat an all-legend (feat Giritina) team without any legends myself. Now that's cathartic (ignore the fact that was the only battle I won that 5)

Just lost like 7-9 battles in a row, to my great consternation. Team *should* be good, Aggron, Charizard, and Sceptile, tend to cover each other's weaknessess, the latter two all have Dragon Claw and the former resists giratina's attacks.

Keep getting hit with some combination of togekiss, empoleon, and heatran rounding out the giratina.

This week's bundle is 20 ultra balls and 15 pinap berries.

Also, so many ditto. Where were they when I had a research task for them?

And now my Battle League kvetching extends to Landorus, floating void into which pokeballs and berries disappear, never to be regained.

I have now taken to purposefully losing matches after winning three so I don't get him.

Have a scraggy. Would like a fluffy 'murcan birb fluff. Can't run the risk of getting another heckin' landorus that'll burn all my pokeballs.

I'd kill for a legendary from the PVP drops. I never get any and, along with other issues I have with PVP, I stopped playing it entirely.

I recently caught a Landorus after winning 4 battles in the Battle League. 2-star ranking and also extra small, but I'll take any legendary I can get.

PRC4Eva Since: Jan, 2001

And wouldn't you know it, accidentally won a fourth battle in a set and now I has a fluffy little 'murica birb.

I think overall there's another issue with Battle League, namely "energy management" and "shield management" is such a disjointed and tangential game mechanic compared to pretty much every other entry in the series. It doesn't feel so much like being a pro pokemon trainer so much as being good at remembering a spreadsheet of which two moves a mon is likely to have.

So Battle League is now at master. I don't even have good enough mons to battle the team leaders at master league but I now have to for the proper pvp battles. Sure.

Latest forced update broke my game. I checked my phone settings and my in-game settings, GPS is turned on as is Bluetooth and anything else Po GO could need to track my actual position, but it no longer can find GPS signal. This is also after I turned off my phone and turned back on. So until they fix this bug in the next patch, they effectively killed my game.
