Sonome Village - Gate

Though considerately behind the others at the gate; the two certainly continued towards the village and gate with Koneko. Mana smiling and nodding at the girl. "Its Mana, and yeah, we are nobles! " She says both informally and slightly gleeful till a water drop hits her nose and she blinks to actually notice the fact its raining.

Ren shaking his head. "As my sister should be saying is, yes we are nobles though not of this land, we are traveling from over the seas to the west. I'm Ren of house Nightsong." He says politely and practiced, gesturing a hand to his chest giving a another bow of his head.

"Stop being such a stick in the mud Ren, we are not in court. It's not like we need t" She was saying slightly annoyed at Ren before he interrupts with.

"Even if we are not in court, you are still the lady of the house." He interrupts with a calm, disappointed tone though not forceful or angry.
Before looking down from the horse. "Koneko, is the rain bothering you?" He asks politely, with slight concern.

Sasuke nods to everyone following them, "Good, a round on me. Maybe several rounds. We can get to know each other."

The little figure goes up to a house, knocking on the door frantically, "Nairube-saaaaan, I'm bored. Are you home?"

"I'm as free as the dust in the solar wind."

Sonome Village

Tavern

Yamada nods to Sasuke at the mention of round on him as he sits at the bar, resting his shoulders and taking in his surroundings. New town, new opportunities he thinks.

Gate

Koneko nods.

"I don't much like the rain...or being wet. Guess the cat stereotype fits for me...eheh..." she says, scratching the back of her head.

Chikiyumi Village

From inside the house a man wakes with a start, sitting up from his modest cot on the floor and immediately regretting the decision as sharp pain shoots through his back. His joints also still ache something awful, but not so much as his back. His hair is short and in a salt and pepper colored mess around his head, and his stubble matches it.

"Urgh...Kotone? Come in, it's open," he says, sitting up and resting his back against the wall as he looks around. His home is sparsely decorated (what some might consider "quaint") and smells heavily of sea-salt and fish. With the coils of rope and harpoons sitting nearby, he isn't surprised about this fact in the slightest. Not that he can really smell it at the moment anyway - time masks even the worst of odors, after all.

Sonome Village - Gate

"We will be heading to the local tavern to rest. If you are as well, feel free to protect your head with this." He says with a oddly caring yet not emotive tone, rolling off his own over-sized cloak onto his arm and leaning it down.

"Ooh I feel a little jealous, you offering her your cloak and not myself." She says in a sly joking tone.

"Mana, the rain doesn't stop you anyway and its not like we don't have changes of clothes we can use if needed." He says in response.

Sonome Village — Inari Shrine

Somewhere in the village, at the heart of its Inari shrine, a young woman named Yayoi swept the grounds of dust and debris with a bamboo broom. As a light breeze passed over the shrine grounds, Yayoi shivered. She looked up at the sky, where dark clouds loomed over the grounds. Seems it was going to rain soon. She would have to fetch her umbrella. There were other things she had to do that day.

Sonome Village — Street

A few minutes later, Yayoi headed out into the streets of Sonome towards the village gate, umbrella in hand, and a box in the other. It wasn't long before she reached the gate, just as Rentarou seemed about to leave.

"Master Rentarou. Miss Aiko," she said.

She gestured to Rentarou a lacquered box, bundled in cloth, still slightly warm from the recently cooked fish and meat inside.

"Thank you for today's work at the gate. Sonome would not be safe without you," she said, with a smile. "Share equally, now. And eat well, especially if you intend to drink."

Peering out from her umbrella at the mountain range and the looming clouds, Yayoi sighed.

"A light drizzle today, it seems. I think I will replace the water in the temizu basin later."

Sonome Village - Tavern

"I'll pass," the woman said rather coldly, licking the back of her hand as she did so, creating a weird effect. When she was done clearing her hand of rain droplets, she turned towards the bartender. "Ramen... or miso... and a bed, please," she said with the last word almost an afterthought.

Sonome Village - Street

As Tarou starts to head off, he sees the woman with the umbrella and the shirtless man with the sword decide to follow him and Sasuke. He shrugs, not minding as it would keep him from having to make multiple trips, at least. Though, he wouldn't mention he felt a little uncomfortable. Crowds, especially of people he didn't know, had a habit of doing that.

As he hears the tavern, he catches the sight of the young shrine maiden approaching him and pauses to speak with her. "Ah, Yayoi. I hope the afternoon is treating you well, despite the sudden weather change." As she presents him the box, he smiles appreciatively before giving her a bow and accepting it. "Thank you very much for your kindness. I simply try to do what I can." he answers and tucks the box under his arm. I will make sure Aiko gets her share. And yes, with the rain, that might be best. If you need any help with anything, please, let me know."

With that, he gives her a friendly wave before heading inside the tavern.

Old habits die hard, especially when no one else lets them die either.

Sonome Tavern

While the others are busy, Mira turns to greet the newcomers.

"Welcome! What'll you be having today?" She calls to them, before catering to Suitsuki.

"Sorry, we're out of noodles at the moment so you'll have to do with plain miso. And for the lodging you'll have to sign a written statement. That alright with you~?"

Tavern

"Something strong. Please," Yamada says, before turning his gaze to Sasuke, "And thank you." Yamada shifts his aura around in a way that other spirits might recognize as a wordless greeting before, awkwardly, reaching out to shake his hand.

Outside

"Oh, thanks!" says Koneko gratefully, taking the offered cloak and draping it over her head and shoulders as they walk.

Sonome Village - Outside

The two continued to ride towards the tavern, getting close now. Even if the rain didn't bother them personally it did mean their stuff would need drying. Regardless they still were not that bothered.

"Well with you being such a gentleman, I am sure you would be more than willing to help you change..?" Mana was saying till Ren finished her sentence.

Mana just leans back giggling a little, tilting her head and sticking her tongue out childishly. Ren rolling his eyes in response.

"...Anyway, Koneko you were traveling with someone were you not?" Ren asks curiously, making talk away from his sisters inappropriate playful behavior.

Well this was awkward. Here Mugen had gone trying to impress the dude and he had made a fool of himself. Of course, he was aware he was a fool. When Mira mentioned the rent money, he felt like he was a few steps from the gallows.

"Oh! Um. Here." He said, reaching into his pocket and taking out his pouch of money. He opened it on the counter, and out fell a few pieces of silver, a button, and a cork. Like most Oni, he had a deep sense of honor, and always tried to pay his debts. "I'm going to look for work today, so I should have the rest by tonight." He pushed his sunglasses up. "It's nice that it's peaceful around here, I guess. But it makes it kinda hard to find work." He turned around in his stool, facing Nanaka.

"Hey, you any good in a fight?" He asked Nanaka. "Just curious."

Sonome Village

Koneko nods happily underneath the cloak.

"Yup! He's..." she starts, trailing off as she realizes Yamada's absence once more. She pouts a bit, "A swordsman...and a jerk. But nice when he wants to be. His name is Yamada, and he's like me. Well, sort of."

Tavern

As Yamada waits for his drink he hears Mugen speaking, noting his size and the want of a fight. He glances at Nanaka before turning his attention back to the counter top.

"He seems a little young, but I suppose looks can be deceiving."

Sonome Tavern

"Here ya go~" Mira hands Yamada a glass of something. It's not the strongest she has, but it's still hair raising. She shifts her aura a bit in greeting as well.

Noticing Mugen's awkward expression, she grins a little mischievously. The cork and button raise her eyebrow a little. "This is alright for now. Just make sure you don't leave it for too long, okay? I can understand finding work hard to come by.."

Nanaka seems somewhat surprised as he's asked a question. "Uhm, I guess I am... I haven't done much more than sparring, though.."

The woman eyed Mira carefully, "Miso it is then," she grumbled as the bartender continued. A written statement? She hesitated for a moment and nodded slightly before looking back down towards the counter.

"Like you..?" Mana asks actually being curious. Looking at the slightly wild and wet 10 year old hiding under her brothers sweet smelling cloak

Ren meanwhile has a idea what she meant. Though will wait and see the response first. As smart as his sister was she had a way of accepting things on face value.

Aiko eagerly follows Tarou into the tavern. "Tarouuuu can I finally have some beer? I'm 16 now! I can handle it!"

Sonome Village

"Oh, we're both spirits, of course. He's a wolf, I'm a cat," Koneko says without a care in the world. She may get a glance or two from any passersby within earshot.

Tavern

"Thanks," says Yamada with a nod, eyes lingering on Mira for a moment before falling back to the countertop. He grabs his drink and drains it with a single swift motion, wincing a little and baring his teeth from the burn, showing his missing canine. He puts the glass down, shudders once, and goes back to normal, listening to the crowd.

Somone Village - Tavern

Noting the woman's coldness, Sasuke rolls his eye and sits rather far away from her, Sake and Okonomiyaki, please, And I'll pay everyone's tab." he shift his aura as well to Yamada, smliing genuinely and shaking his hand, teasing jovially, "I thought I smelled wet dog. The name's Sasuke."

Chikiyumi Village

Kotone skips through the door, "Hello young one!" she shouts playfully, plopping down in front of Nairube, though she looks and sounds several decades his junior, "Smells good in here, by the way. How're you doing?"

Sonome Village - Outside the Tavern.

Ren gives a small smirk to Mana. "Oh that's cool! We're also used to working with spirits..." Mana was saying till Ren interrupted to keep their youkai status under wraps.

Mana blinks then realizes and gives a acknowledging and a "Opps" kind of glace over to her brother as they reach the tavern. Ren dismounting and Mana using him for support to get down from the horse; though not before she whispered a few words to Haruka. The horse giving a almost intelligent nod as it's tied by to a post.

Mira heads out back and returns a few minutes later with a slip of paper and a small bowl of miso soup. The paper just states that Suitsuiki will behave civilly, pay or help repair any property damage, and things like that.

"I know it's not something I can easily enforce, but it gives me a little peace of mind."

Mira briefly wonders how Yamada lost his tooth, and why, but doesn't dwell on it for long.

"Oh, big spender, huh?... And I'll have that ready in a few minutes, then."

"Thanks." Mugen said to her. He appreciated her help, but like Oni, he put a lot of value on personal pride, and hated accepting charity. He would like to make it up to her, but he wasn't used to that kind of thing. Instead, he turned to Nanaka.

"What weapon do you like to use? Wanna try out my mace?" He asked, the wicked grin on his face as he held the handle out to Nanaka.

Tarou quietly takes a seat near the corner of the bar, the large amount of people bothering him just a bit, but he doesn't show it. "A bowl of Hagakure sake, please." he says to Mira before placing the food box on the table and reaching in to take out a small meat pie. At seeing Aiko come in, he wavers her over to sit on the other side of him. "Hmm...well...you did well today. I suppose a sip couldn't hurt. Just make sure you eat first." he says, gesturing to the food box.

Oh, right. Most people couldn't lift it. Still, he'd never seen a metal fan. One of the things that fascinated him about the world outside his hometown was how many weapons they had. Most of them were a lot smaller than anything they used back home, but no less deadly.

"Can I see?" Mugen asked him, his mace rested over his shoulder, holding it as easily as if it were a twig.

"Well, I don't know if I should show you here... Plus it's in my room.. I can go get it, though."
