I mean, there's usually a point in any franchise where quality goes really down and people say "never happened" (ex: Star Wars prequels, Highlander 2, sequels to The Matrix, certain seasons of Doctor Who, etc.).
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I mean, more people have nice things to say about Crisis Core, X-2, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns than Dirge of Cerberus.
I don't think Dirge of Cerberus has any "defenders" per se.
It's pretty universally reviled.
And I keep hearing XIV is pretty good if you like mmos.

I remember liking Dirge of Cerberus. Can't recall why, though. I haven't played it in a long time.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'd say it was the combination of it being the first Final Fantasy with cinematic and Sony marketing the hell out of the game since it was the first Final Fantasy released on their console.
Plenty. Final Fantasy has a massive Unpleasable Fanbase just like Sonic and The Legend of Zelda, so you should only take the "Final Fantasy stopped being good after ______" with a grain of salt.
I mean.
...As bland shooters go it's alright I guess?
The shooting still isn't great and the story. Um.
The Final Fantasty X novel sequel also get Fanon Discontinuity.
Even with the Sonic fanbase, they all despise some games more than others (SONIC '06 CAN ROT IN HELL).
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah nobody likes that novel.
Outside of spinoffs, the games that fanbase in general have soured on was XIII. But even then, I tend to see less legitimate criticisms against the games themselves and more on the decisions the Square has made.
I wasn't even aware a novel exists.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I've only heard of what's in it.
It sounds dumb.
I mean.
I feel like XIII's detractors will go away once XV comes out.
People used to hate XII as much. And X. And VIII.
I honestly haven't heard of IX getting any hate because it seemed like it was the one everyone sorta just forgets about? Like, people dropped the series after VIII and came back for X only because it got a lot of advertising
I can't imagine IX getting negative attention because that would require it getting any attention at all.
It's called Final Fantasy X-2.5 ~Price of Eternity~. It features Tidus killing himself by kicking a Blitzball that looked like a bomb, Sin coming back, and Auron's long lost daughter showing up to create a new team to fight it.
I said it was dumb didn't I?
I was posting while you made yours.
And yes, it's very dumb.
I heard the creator of Final Fantasy thought IX was the best, apparently.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?IX gets the "Majora's Mask" treatment from the fanbase where everyone claims it's the most underrated game.
That sounds like someone wrote a novel that was absolutely brilliant and changed everything. A novel that could have altered the direction of the franchise forever. A novel that may have resulted in a new golden age of gaming.
Naturally, the publisher was so taken aback by the majesty of this piece of literature that he got confused and accidentally published someone's fanfic instead.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Sorry for derailing the thread with my ignorance.
Again.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseThat's insulting to fanfic.
It's fine.

Actually.
On-topic, Square did a lot of paid promotional stuff for the update of XIV that fixed it, and TFS did some videos for it.
I actually tried out the free trial once TFS posted those videos and I can vouch for the game being realy fun. It's surprising how well an MMORPG can control with a traditional controller.
As for Final Fantasy, I liked VII but I think VIII is better. I also liked X and V. Despite this, I have never beaten a Final Fantasy game.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about XIV too. The main problem is I have no job to support it right now, and the game's Mac version is royally screwed and I have no Windows computer.
Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, X-2, XIII-2 and Lighting Returns, etc.
Basically all the main series connected spin-offs.
Oh ans XI and XIV because those are MM Os.
