"Nee-heehee, just kidding! You're trying your best and that's all that matters in the long run, right?" He leaned forward and reached for the portal gun as best as his scrawny arms could manage. "Lemme see it!"

Okay, breaking out of jail after agreeing to go there is kind of sketchy behavior, and she could see why the militia wouldn't trust him to not run off again, but she could also see why Rex might not actually want to build the ship. That didn't give him a right to skip out on it, but still.
"...Alright, that sounds fair," Makoto said. "Sorry if it seemed like I was trying to pick a fight, I just wanted to hear the full story from someone before I came to any wrong conclusions."
"Calm down, freaking out isn't going to solve anything. Besides, I've got this" Arcade was awfully interested in the situation regarding Silanea. A far cry from his cry-baby and detached approach back in the mindscape.
"Dude, you broke up over the radio while in the hospital. I was there and it was very hard to miss, you were practically shouting" there was something else about how Ben wasn't even close to winning the dick-measuring contest anyway because Rex had literally woken up after bringing an entire village back to life but trying to one up the kid while Eve, Elias, and Tairee were there wasn't a good idea, so Rex didn't even bother.
Which speaking of, the librarian—after explaining how Makoto was much smarter than him by being specific in her requests—gave him everything he had asked for, including the book about Silanea's world.

The book was a long read, full of stats and technical details that just made Rex want to go to bed. Thankfully Rex could just give the duty of finding something important to someone else like Chise or Eve. But that would have to wait since he had a message. Yuna was going to the library with Two, Caboose, and... Valentina? Whoever that was "What?" He started typing a reply "What are you doing? Where's the sorceress" but four individuals entered the library before he could finish. In particular, there was someone else wearing red and white and... carrying a staff.
"You!" Rex could barely recognize Valentina's profile but it wasn't hard to put two and two together. And the library was the last place she wanted to meet her it. He quickly built his cannon and tried to load it, when the 'teeth' of the rear mechanism broke themselves apart trying to 'bite off' a chunk of the floor. The cannon didn't last long after having part of it slam itself against the floor and simply fell apart from Rex's hand.
"...uh?"

"Well, yeah, that's the dumb way of saying it," pointed out Rick, shooting a sidelong glance at Seiga's sudden sweetness. "And if you think that makes you smart then- then what makes you think that you can use it, huh? This is a ... complex trans-dimensional device designed to shunt the quantum signatures of objects and organisms across unfathomable distances! An ultra-dense shot pierces the dimensional membranes and allows for transportation across realities!" Rick pulled it out and adjusted a dial. "One wrong move, one wrong mixture of portal juice and you're a disintegrated pile of bone. Which might not be such a bad thing for some people."
"You could.. uh... accidentally scramble your molecules... across... reality or something!" interjected Morty, who looked as though he had narrowly avoided just such a fate more than once.
"Ignore my grandson, he's talking technobabble in an attempt to sound smart again."
Arcade was going to respond to Rex, but Eve's request to be put down was more urgent. Not that she was rude about it, but Arcade still hurried to let her down. "Right, right, sorry," he said.
Once that was done he turned back to Rex. "Right, of course you will," he said with very obvious skepticism. After everything Rex had done to make things worse for him, he wasn't feeling the most charitable towards the teen.
The spectacle Rex made a few seconds later did not help his opinion. Without changing his expression at all, he calmly said, "ah, I see, you can handle this. I rescind my previous skepticism." He wanted to make the sorceress regret murdering innocents, but he wasn't crazy enough to just start shooting. Not alone, anyway.
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."

Ben frowned at Rex. "We've patched things up," Ben told him. "So shows how much you know." At that moment, someone entered the library and Rex immediately embarrassed himself trying to slam his hand into the library. Ben laughed loudly at the EVO, then turned towards the sorceress.
"What's going on here?" Ben asked, a little wary of the woman, but not to the extent that he would attack her on sight. Besides, Ben thought, you would have to be some kind of idiot to try and start a fight in the library when Miss Tairee was just gonna stop any fighting. So as far as Ben was concerned, Rex checked out.

Before Chise could grab a potion, the librarian fixed Eve's injury in mere seconds with little to no effort. It was really nice to have access to someone who could just heal any injury like that, although it was also a bit scary to think someone could have a lot of power like that. No longer covering her mouth, Chise just sighed in relief.
A lot of arguing started with Rex being the main target of everyone's venom. Just what had he done in the last few days to earn all that animosity? Rex tried to downplay the problem of that sorceress being in the city, but that soon backfire when the woman herself appeared in the library and Rex proceeded to make a fool of himself, which admittedly was a little funny to watch.
"You do realize that even if you were able to fire that cannon that you would likely be punished for trying to harm someone in the library, correct?" Asked Elias, already sounding skeptical about Rex's ability to think before acting.
"I don't think trying to hurt her will make things any better for us, or for Silanea." Chise commented, looking at the sorceress with concern and staying next to Elias as if looking for protection.

"Yeah..." Samson said simply, like he didn't really have anything else to add.
"You seem like a good kid" Greg commented, with a simple smile to Makoto. "But I suppose, Wells wouldn't have let you in if he didn't think so either" the militia member added.
"That's even more reason to be specific, though. If you didn't trust me, why would you give me so much room to twist your words? I could've given you sewage wrapped in tin foil and claimed that's a 'burrito' in some universe" Miss Tairee said to Rex, shaking her head. She looked like she had something else to ask Rex then, but things got sidetracked as he tried and failed to launch an attack on the sorceress. Miss Tairee frowned and tapped a few keys.
A wooden ruler then smacked into the back of Rex's head, after blurring into existence and then abruptly accelerating through the air at him. "Rex. No fighting in the library" Miss Tairee said in a stern tone.
Meanwhile, Valentina focused on Rex and raised an eyebrow. "Yes, 'me'. Have we met?" Valentina asked him, in a somewhat confused tone. Then she turned her eyes towards Ben. "That is exactly what I have been trying figure out, boy" the sorceress told him, then looked towards Miss Tairee.
"You must be the 'librarian'. I've heard some interesting things about you- including you being a god, and you working for the being that brought us here" Valentina said to Miss Tairee, raising her free hand as a blue aura started to surround it. "Unless perhaps that's just a claim to avoid retaliation? Perhaps you alone are responsible" the sorceress added.
"I certainly have some god like powers, but as far as I'm concerned I'm human" Miss Tairee replied, folding her arms. "And if I was going to lie so that people wouldn't be mad at me, I would just pretend I'm not involved at all, not say that I'm just working for the one who did all this. Besides, I don't have a reason to lie about that" the librarian continued.
"Hmph" Valentina scoffed, then slowly looked around at everyone else in the library. "And all of you; are you along with it as well? Because if you were all taken here against your will as well, then why aren't you doing something about it when someone who has admitted association is sitting right there?" the sorceress inquired of them.
"I've been kind of wondering the same thing, actually..." Louie muttered, in a slightly angry tone.

Why wouldn't Yoshika know that, anyway? It seemed like that was pretty basic stuff. She could name pretty much every other body part and, like, half of her internal organs and their locations. Seiga always liked...well, it was more like a self-diagnostic tool than education, considering her. Hey, knowledge is knowledge.
But, as her mind raced with extremely vague ideas of how either organ actually functioned with one another, Yoshika had yet another question. Part question, part wondering aloud, she looked up in the air.
"...But wait, why would you watch a movie about it with Rex? What's enjoyable about sex and watching people do it? Isn't it like..."

Ben laughed even harder when Rex was smacked in the back of the head. After a while, he calmed down, and looked back at the sorceress. He sighed when the sorceress asked him why no one was doing anything about the Writer.
"Believe me, if I could clean the Writer's clock and set everyone free I would. I just don't know how. The guy keeping us here can shape reality with like no effort. If he had any weaknesses I haven't been able to find any," Ben explained. "I was driving myself nuts for like... a week and a half before I decided it'd be a better idea for me to protect people from his nonsense." He crossed his arms, sitting in a nearby chair.
"You know what that jerk did? He keeps dropping monsters on us that hurt people and put everyone in danger, and he calls it a challenge, and gives us rewards if we beat it like we were gladiators and we were putting on a show for him," explained Ben. "He grabs people from all over the multiverse and tortures them and kills them with things like falling icicles and zombies and monsters and dinosaurs, and giant lobsters made of rock," Ben trailed on. "And after he does that he brings them back to life, and kills them all over again, all so he can get inspiration for his stupid book. He's a monster and he deserves to get punished for what he's doing. He should get locked away forever for this." He sighed angrily.
"But until we can find a way to stop him, he's just gonna keep doing it and until we figure out how to beat him, there's nothing we can do about it. And it makes me so mad... and Miss Tairee does nothing about it either, she just listens to his orders like she's some slave instead of being a decent person and doing something about it. If I knew a way to set everyone free and make the Writer pay for kidnapping us, I'd do it, no question." He slumped against the chair and started to stew where he was sitting. He then glanced up at Miss Tairee at the desk.
"And I know you heard that, and I know the Writer heard that. And I meant every word," Ben stated bluntly at her.

"Because you always find a loophole" Rex said simply. Tairee didn't have the best track record with being nice to him so trying to get around her trickster behavior was pointless. It was better to just face it like a man.
Also, that ruler seriously hurt. She was taking the librarian theme a little too far.
"Ouch, seriously? Again with the ruler?" Elias mentioned how pointless it was to fight in the library "You don't say"
But Chise had a point, fighting in the library wasn't a good idea. It could as she said, undermine what they had done for Silanea. It was better to talk it out for now. And oddly enough, the sorceress had her issues with Tairee, which was nice... a bit.
She wasn't even sure Tairee was telling the truth about her role in all of this. Tairee naturally shrugged off the accusations but Ben had a few words of his own "Really man, you are going to burn yourself out if you start overthinking like that" plus talking to Valentina like she was a friend wasn't a good idea.
Valentina was having none of it and even wondered why no one was shooting the librarian on sight.
"Oh, trust me, there are a lot of things I'd like to do to Sekreh Tairee—that's her actual name by the way" he cracked his knuckles in attempt to intimidate... well, anyone really "But she's too powerful and cheats" he shuddered after recalling the kiss.
Oh and she also wanted to know why Rex acted like she knew her. How to put it lightly...
"Kinda. You haven't seen me before but I happen to know a thing or two about you. For example, I know you come from a place called Varsovia"

"That's a good idea! I'll call you later when you're done with everything!" The truly innocent and sweet girl talk contrasting greatly with the barbs being shot at each other in the background, Hibiki simply gave the nicer part of the group a goodbye wave while looking a bit sad that her new friends had to go so soon. At the very least, they'd meet up again soon and she was still with Miss Qing who was the perfect respectable adult figure around these parts given how she was being nice and everyone else were saying rather less than savory things!
Now looking quite a bit more awkward in this meeting of manipulative geniuses and Morty, the girl blinked as she tried to do something to pass the time and came up short. She wasn't good with jerk scientist like figures for sure, and this one reminded her of Dr. Ver too much for her own taste. Scooting a bit away from Rick, Hibiki folded up her knees to her chest and counted the grass at the edge of the blanket.
...Actually...
...No, he didn't seem to want any more questions. Yoshika picked up on that subtle clue.
"I thought you were gonna watch a po—anime later, but...n-nevermind," she quietly said.

Two, Library
So this was the Library she had heard so much about. Always at the center of the city, through thick and thin, a safe haven from the madness outside.
There's been plenty of characters in there; some - Rex and Arcade - she recognized from their venture into the mindscape. Others - like Louie - she hoped not to be noticed by. "Ah, hello there." She greeted them with an awkward wave, hoping to defuse the tension so thick you could probably cut it with a knife. No wonder; Valentina's presence was most unwelcome. The Intoner slipped over to where Rex was, just in time to see him get hit with a ruler. Ouch. It didn't help the situation that the sorceress was still very haughty.
Then, one of the persons she didn't recognize - a child, actually - explained the scheme behind their stay here. For a book...? "I would assume somebody had tried before and got punished for it..." If she really was a servant of this Writer, that made her a villain, but at the same time this Library really was the only safe place in the City; she even imposed the "no fighting" rule.
For now, she decided to focus on the child with the strange decoration on his wrist - Ben, was it?. A week in a half? "Were you here for that long...? And... maybe Miss Tairee cannot do anything? Even if her powers are vast, what if this Writer keeps her at knifepoint...?" Two suggested, offering a small pat on Ben's shoulder.

Caboose wasn't entirely sure what was going on, as usual. People were around and talking and some of them he knew and others he didn't. Using his infinite wisdom, he focused on only one particular thing said by the multitude of individuals in the library. "That sounds like you made it up," Caboose said to Rex in response to him mentioning where Valentina came from. "I've never heard of a place like that and I've been to... a few places." '

Ben glanced over at Caboose, who mentioned he had never heard of such a place.
"That's because the Writer grabs people from like a million different universes and shoves them here like some twisted zoo or something. It probably doesn't exist in your universe," Ben explained. He then looked over at Two, who seemed to be trying to console him. "Oh, he is," Ben clarified. "Miss Tairee said that if she doesn't do exactly what the Writer tells her to do, he's gonna erase her from history. Or punish us in her place. He's controlling her and making her want to follow him by punishing her if she steps out of line. It's sick."
He sat up, crossing his arms. "Well, I'm not standing for the Writer's nonsense. I'm a hero. And heroes don't let people get hurt! Soon as I find a way, I'm kicking the Writer's sorry butt and letting everyone go! There's gotta be a way," said Ben. "As long as we're trapped here, we should be allies in the fight against the dude trapping us here. We beat him, then we can all go home."

If that was true, that certainly explained the sheer variety of characters that were present, even here. Still, something that Ben said had Two thinking...
"What if someone doesn't want to go home...?" She asked. She could think of a few people like that, even in this very room... Two wasn't going to comment on the whole "all prisoners should work together" thing. It was optimistic and idealistic, but nowhere near achievable.

Gon felt relaxed now that the threat is over. Though the group had (mostly) parted ways for the time being, the assassin decided to look around for clues on what can be done to keep the city from exploding.
Probably won't find anything, but it's the thought that counts right?

Garrett did nothing to help Lewis out of his jam, merely chuckling under his breath as the poor ghost tried to explain himself and to introduce Yoshika to the wide wonderful world of porn.
"...Thanks to the suggestions, I guess. I'll try to remember these titles," he said. "Might as well get something out of my being stuck here— oh, and here we are."
Indeed, the prison building had just come into sight from behind a street corner.
"...I think I'd rather stand back. You do the knocking on the door," the thief said. No matter what the city, it was always better not to get too closely involved with lawmen.

Pretty soon, Ben started arguing about how awful the entire city was again. Arcade visibly grimaced and placed a hand on Eve's shoulder, needing a reminder that he wasn't completely alone. Last time he was part of that argument, things didn't go so well for him. It was clear to him that Ben's world was much nicer than the city, and nothing was going to convince him that it wasn't so bad.
But was that Ben's fault? Arcade couldn't fault him for wanting to go somewhere nice— hell, that's all Arcade wanted. Still, Ben was so gung-ho about going back home, it wasn't fun to hear. The hand on Eve's shoulder sagged slightly.

I was the designated 'knock on the door' guy, because Garrett didn't want to do it, which made sense for a career thief. I wasn't one to pass judgment on it.
I knocked on the door. "Hey, who's here? Got some psychopath from the theater. And some attacks before that."

"Well, robots...I think it was more that was just something I thought was flashy. I've been trying to wrap my head around that one...other things changed, too, like I used to always want meat but now I like rice and stuff a lot more." She smiled at him, trying to keep this conversation civil and upbeat...but once again, her mind wandered down a dark path.
"...By the way, what's porn?"
She was sure to lay on the sugar like thick, binding syrup that got all in your fingers when you're eating pancakes. Mostly just to annoy him in a pleasantly non-threatening way, of course!
