"Almost seems like a waste to send everyone when we just need one more solid hit. But I can't think of a better way to stack the deck on this one" Curly told Sans before addressing Tester again "Charge and melee blade on the Sorceress once she's been moved then, and I'd like to observe the Fighter, again"

Two's offer sounded good, except for one thing "Caboose... Gasoline isn't edible" she found herself saying with a hint of concern. "But doing something after this is all over for a proper introduction sounds good"

Construction site

"Huh?" Garrett looked around for a bit before noticing the little man. "Uh, I am, I guess. Do you know what's going on here, exactly? What are all these... bugs doing here?"

Two, On Food, Mindscape

"Oh no, it won't be just anything. It'll be breathtaking~" Two assured with a grin that was almost cocky. "You deserve nothing less."

Arcade expressed his reluctance that he had nothing in particular that he liked. Poor man. "Well, I can make one of my specials then, like ogre meatballs." She suggested, beaming.

After the encouragement basically everyone gave to Two she seemed to have accepted she wasn't useless and finally decided to attack the Cleric. Surprisingly, she beat him in one move so Rex didn't have much to do during his turn.

Sans already started throwing orders again but Rex barely paid any attention "Yeah yeah, what Sans said"

After all, Two was happy with the outcome of her actions and even joked about hugging the group if it were physically possible for her to do so outside combat.

"Well, I am right here"

Regardless, Two really seemed to have self-confidence issues if all it took to make her feel ecstatic was people trusting her. She was so thankful she offered to cook everyone's favorite dishes once this was over.

"Oh you can cook? I don't really have a favorite food. I can eat anything, really" Caboose once again showed his bright mind in action by listing his diet "Hahaha, that was a joke... right?"

Naturally, Arcade couldn't come up with any food. He was really not completely focused since Eve's disappearance. Two offered ogre meatballs but even without knowing what those tasted like, Rex could already tell that was a bad idea.

"How about something simple like, I don't know, cheeseburgers?"

Arcade glanced from Rex back to Two, confused. An ogre was possibly an edible food in Two's world, so he wasn't too concerned about that. On the other hand, cheese to him was the powder found in the blamco mac n' cheese boxes.

Picturing a burger with the bright orange powder caused his face to scrunch up slightly. "A... cheeseburger sou-sounds... bad," he responded.

Two (who named this girl?), in contrast to my disappointment, was overjoyed to have contributed by killing the cleric, and offered to cook as thanks for everyone who'd cheered her on.

"You cook," I mumbled, my interest piqued.

Everyone was excited for it, pitching dishes and being audibly concerned at something not meant to be edible to humans being listed among said dishes. "Hey, you don't know. It could be edible if you have a, cybernetic stomach, or, something." Come on, how else would he be alive...?

This girl sure was confident in her cooking ability. But alas.

I hope she didn't think she could go unchallenged. "So you think you're hot stuff, huh? You're on, sweet pea." I tried to make a ladle but nothing happened.

"I wonder what Silanea likes. I gave her a giant marshmallow...yesterday? The day changed, didn't it? ...but I don't think she actually ate it."

Arcade apparently wasn't familiar with cheeseburgers, yet somehow gauged that they'd suck. "What, naw, they're okay. Not my favorite, but if I'm feeling up for one...What makes you say that?"

Lewis spoke directly to Arcade. That caused Arcade to jerkily turn his head to him and shrug. "Tha-that oran... orange powder on... on meat sounds... bad?" he said.

"Halla are...like horses, but...thinner." Cole frowned thoughtfully, raising his hands as though to mime antlers on top of his head. "They have horns, like this, and they usually prefer elves to humans. They are still nice though."

He finished his slice of apple, making a faint "Blegh" noise, and sat up a bit to look around the top of the buffet again. "I never had a home. The me before me did, but I've never really had one. But...as I said, Skyhold was like one. I guess that eventually I'll wind up somewhere. I don't know where that will be though."

Mindscape

Caboose looked back up from his drawings, which were turning out pretty nicely, to respond to the comments about his odd beverage. "Oh, I'm not joking," Caboose said to Rex without sounding concerned. "My bestest friend Church told me they were lemonade cans, so I drank them without complaining so I wouldn't hurt his feelings about how bad he was at making lemonade. First week was a struggle but it got much easier after that! I made sure to drink it everyday, all the months I was in Blood Gulch."

If there was ever any doubt as to him being entirely serious about this, the eagerness with which Caboose spoke would probably dispel it.

Sunset Shimmer| Buffet| "... no home? That's awful..."

Sunset tilted her head. "Sounds like elk," she replied. When Cole started talking about his lack of a home, she looked sad, taking a bite of her apple morosely. "I'm sure you'll find one. And if you can't, I'll make sure you get one," she said, sounding a lot more confident than she felt. "I have easy access to both Earth and Equestria. I can sort something out." No one deserved to be homeless.

Arcade's world was really weird if over there cheeseburgers were orange powder over meat.

"I'm talking about cheeseburgers, what are you talking about?"

Lewis felt threatened by Two's skills and immediately made it clear they could compete to see who was the best cook. He had mentioned his family had a restaurant but this was just ridiculously petty even for him.

"This isn't a competition, Lewis. But if it is, I want to be part of the jury"

Meanwhile, Caboose looked up from whatever he was doing on the dirt and explained that he did drink gasoline. Apparently someone from his world named Church had tricked him into drinking the thing. Rex couldn't even come up with a weak joke and just looked shocked for a while.

"That Church sounds like a prick"

"D-d-d-do you know what I just got a huge... fuckin' craving for?" asked Rick vaguely, gesticulating with one arm as he stared down the Sorceress. "Onion rings. Just - just... I don't know, I just want onion rings right now. Is that- is that so much to ask for? Goddammit I'm getting emotional," he slurred angrily to himself, wiping something out of his eye.

"Tester, yo, I I shoot the... magic lady...."

Two was so happy with her success that she wanted to make food for everyone and then suddenly there was a conversation about what a chessburguer was, drinking gasoline and a cook-off. That was certainly something.

"i know that we pretty much already won and all but i have to wonder what silanea thinks of the fact that we're talking about drinking gasoline in her mind," said Sans, glancing around his surroundings as if expecting something to change, "by the way silanea eats meat, i know because we went to watch a movie together and that's what she was eating."

Curly just blinked at Caboose's explanation. There wasn't any other reaction willing to to fill the void before she finally said "That's, uh.... A lot of friendship".

Of course Rex had to add to it, though his assessment didn't seem seem far off at the moment. Rather than address that, if possible, Curly turned to Lewis "Any chance you know something about preparing deer liver?"

"Oh...i-it's not up to me, or...p-probably not up to you, either. The Writer will...will decide that later, I think..." Cole shrugged a little, leaning against the buffet, sighing softly, before reaching out to pick up a slice of what looked like a dark purple tomato. He sniffed it once, grimaced, then took a bite of it, making a face similar to that of the apple. "Do you ever get used to...to the feeling of things crawling down your throat?"

"Udon! Udon! Udon!"

Yuna was evidently super excited about the prospect of eating with all the new people she'd met. It would surely be a great experience and she was already looking forward to it. Although she could tell that one or two people didn't seem particularly enthusiastic about it... one in particular was an adult with blond hair and glasses, who seemed far more depressed than he should about the whole prospect, and did not seem to know what to even ask for.

Also, Two very clearly wanted a hug.

"Oh hey, I can share my food with you, if you want!" she offered Arcade with a grin, before turning towards Tester. "Say... can I hug Two real quick before the turn begins and I go hit the Sorceress? I promise it won't take too long."

Well, hopefully she'd actually get the chance to hit the sorceress this time...

Prison

The Riddler crawled through the hole and took off running for the nearest entrance into the prison.

Sunset Shimmer| Buffet | "Food doesn't crawl, silly! It slides."

Sunset shrugged. "Well, if you end up in Equestria, give Princess Twilight my regards," she said with a smile. "I hope you find somewhere." she said, taking another bite of apple. "No one should be without a home." She thought for a second. "I never really thought about it before. Eating has always been normal to me."

She got up and dusted herself off, and moved to where there was just some plain seedy bread. "You should try this. It's a pretty simple flavour, especially if you're new to food."

Cole just shrugged vaguely, finishing the tomato slice and crossing his arms on the side of the buffet, resting his chin on them and sighing softly. "I guess, if...you think I should."

He didn't move to get any of the bread though, glancing towards her. "Where you come from has princesses, and ponies, but you dress like people from worlds that aren't like mine. What is your world like?"

Sunset Shimmer| Buffet| "Ooooooo story time!"

Sunset blinked at his question. "The world I come from... well, I originally came from Equestria, a land of ponies and princesses. Actually, I was born a unicorn. Then, due to events," she said, sounding shamful, "I went through a portal into the human world, and ended up as I am. Both of them are lovely. Equestria is a land of peace and prosperity, ruled by the Diarchy of Princesses. Earth is... nice. More of a home to me than Equestria used to be, anyway."

"You're like me...you came to be as one thing and then became a human. It's...a lot to get used to." He looked back at the food. "I knew a unicorn back home. No one else liked to be around her but I liked her. She was just as nice as any of the other horses. She was just dead. But she still wanted to do what she was meant to do."

Sunset Shimmer| Buffet| "Er... what?"

Sunset blinked. "Okay... you can see ghosts?" She asked, trying to interpret that statement in a way that made sense to her.

"Powdered cheese on a...Oh, no, no. Hell no. We use sliced cheese in burgers, because we're not savages. Where are you from where oh, right, nuclear wasteland, I forgot...Well. Looks like we're introducing you to proper cheese."

This Caboose dude apparently went months thinking gasoline was lemonade...? Like, the taste didn't at all process as something ined—never mind. "What the fuck." Did his friend seriously not notice or...? Rex was already jumping to the sinister answer which, let's face it, was as good an answer as any at this point.

I was twitching. I was getting worked up, and I was twitching. This conversation was supposed to be about food. I should not be getting this worked up talking about food.

Focus on anything else. Deal with this later. Bless this guy heart. "Venison? Oh uh, yeah, definitely. It's not really our specialty but anyone and their mom knows how to cook it in Texas. Or at least has tasted it."

A beat.

"Woah, wait, sans, you two went out?"

"Pro...per?" Arcade asked, eyes darting between Lewis and Rex in confusion, "i-isn't cheese... isn't it just tha-that stuff in mac n'... cheese?"

"Oh, well...spirits, yes? I...I used to be the spirit of Compassion, but...well, um. It is a very long story. I left where I came from, and...I died...and both of those things made...me. But I am human now, completely. I don't have my powers anymore or...anything like that. I'm just...Cole, instead of being Cole and Compassion all in the same person."

He sat back in his chair with a tired little sigh. "It sounds like your world...your worlds...are very nice."
