The library

When Eve stated that she was a target, he frowned. "No, don't worry. I won't let him hurt you. If he wants to hurt you, he'll have to get through me first. Me and all my aliens. That's my promise," he told her. "And I'll be darn sure that I'll keep that. Hero's honor."

He looked up at the bubble Sora was in when he agreed with Ben's sentiment. He smiled. "That's the spirit!" Ben stated, a grin coming onto his face. "Heroes don't back down from creeps like him!"

Eve|Library|Your Lack Of Faith Is Disturbing

Eve smiled. Ben's concern was touching, if unnesescary. And she didn't want him to put himself in more danger than he already was. She knew she was a secondary target. Ben didn't have that privilege.

"Ben, it's fine. I can take care of myself."

She was an unknown. She doubted Ghostfreak knew anything about her powers. That was an advantage, and she had the feeling they didn't have many. Sora was right, in that putting Ghostfreak back in the watch would simply buy them time. But time could be a precious commodity.

Ben wasn't scared anymore. Or at least, not visibly. Which was good. And bad. He sounded like he might rush in thoughtlessly. Which would be bad.

"Before you go and get yourself into a fight which you are distinctly unprepared for, we need a plan. I have several, but there are four simple ones we can do easily."

Lewis - Library - Being a Piece of Jewelry

He could...sense it there? My soul? Huh...I didn't know what to make of that.

I sat down, resting the hand holding the locket in my lap and looking down at the beating trinket. "It was...a gift for someone, the same one I mentioned earlier when talking about my wish. I died with it on me and somehow...bound my soul to it, I guess? I didn't know or think that was possible, I was just in a blind panic and for some reason tried to force myself back from the brink even though at that point I was just a clueless disembodied spirit and...it just happened. And then I kept going because I felt it become a part of me when it wasn't before which I must have taken as a sign and figured out how to make an actual body, and, well..."

If I focused on it, I could feel myself in my own warm hands...

"You know, I wondered and I questioned you earlier what sort of overpowered nonsense let a single human kill as many people as Cole indicated when he told me, but. Maybe it's not that weird, if some random human in a cave can force themself back to life with only their own willpower, if different."

Prison — Come again?

Wells made it clear that Rex's "feats" were a team effort that included the militia. It's a good thing he couldn't read Rex's mind because he was actually thinking about the 'heroes'. Not like he was actuaslly going to correct Wells. He already had enough problems to deal with. Like, for instance, being accused of making decisions that would put people in danger.

"Look, I know you are not happy with it but we can call back home thanks to this. And I figure the guy isn't really going to throw us anything that hard to beat. This is the kind of melodramatic farce he lives for"

The lieutenant trailed off, trying to figure out why Rex of all people had the chance to agree to such a deal.

"...Because I asked nicely?" he shrugged.

Wells came to the conclusion that Rex was a scapegoat. For what, he had no idea.

"Uh, I don't follow"

Outside the Library - almost there

So he was someone who died and tried so hard to cling on to life that he ended up being stuck in a locket instead of just fading away. That was interesting, it made Sans wonder if something like that was possible as well. The closest thing would be how monster dust carried the essence of the monster it came from, but it wasn't quite the same thing, otherwise Papyrus would be talking to him through the scarf right now.

Sans couldn't help but let out a chuckle as he heard Lewis try to make sense of how one kid killed everyone. In some ways it was a bit of a similar situation, though at least he wasn't using said ability to kill a whole world.

"it actually goes a little beyond that, though... we monsters get more frail when we're faced with someone with a high killing intent. unlike you humans who have a body independant of your soul, our bodies pretty much are our souls in a way, so much that when a monster dies, the only thing that gets left behind is dust." He then shrugged in amusement. "in some ways we're more similar than you might think, it's almost like you're some kind of weird human/monster hybrid."

Lewis - Library - Almost hitting the nail on the head

So. Is that how it was done. That didn't really translate to killing the world itself, though, just the people in it. "Really. Is that how your kind works. That makes sense, but...it doesn't explain everything I was told. Why did no one try some kind of trap or some other hands-off idea? How'd the world itself get turned to nothing along with the people?"

I didn't reply to the comment on my humanity/lack thereof, merely blinked at him blankly.

It occurred to me that he'd dodged the question about the scarf I'd asked this morning. The dusty orange scarf that he couldn't have arrived wearing but never let go of otherwise...

Wait, dust?

Didn't he just say that...?

I reached out to grab it, trying to examine it more closely...

Hearing the duo had been in a gang, or what they had thought was a gang, was unsurprising to Lo Wang. It was also no surprise that they would pop up in a place like this to begin with. With so many different people and creatures around, you'd have people looking to be safe or comfortable as possible.

No, it was the demon part that piqued the man's interest, as well as a certain demon's who had been lingering nearby. Wang nodded slightly. "Sounds like you've got some pretty shitty luck. What did this demon call itself? And look like?"

At the same time, Hoji slunk over and next to Wang; an action that was even creepier now thanks to his increased size and fluidity of his movement. "A demon-run cult? Ah, that takes me back. You said this demon got taken out. How?"

Stadium-Wish

It was time. Lucas probably should have expected that the wish would be heard by everyone. Well, that wouldn't change his mind. He was going to save Sans' world. Still, it wouldn't be good to rush into it without thinking. For a full minute, Lucas stood thinking about what he should say. Trying to recall what he knew about Sans, Lucas remembered what Lewis had told him as well as the snippet he had heard from Silanea yesterday. He was probably ready to make the wish.

Lucas started speaking "There's a skeleton in this city named Sans. I want his world to be saved. I wish everyone that died will be revived, for his world to be restored to normal, and for the thing that destroyed his world and killed everyone to not be able to harm anyone ever again. That's only the first part of it, though. If I remember correctly, humans sealed all of his people underground. I want them to be freed and have peace with humans. If that counts as more than one wish, just make Sans world change to be what would make him the happiest. Please don't be cruel and twist the meaning of anything I said to hurt him or his world." This had better go through.

Ben nodded at her gently. "If you say so, Eve. Still, I don't want anyone to hurt you. I wouldn't know what to do if I let someone, if I let you, get hurt on my watch," he told her with concern in his voice. She stated that she had an idea of how to get Ghostfreak trapped, and if she had a good enough plan, Ben was definitely all ears.

"Oh? Well yeah, do tell, the sooner we trap that guy the better," he replied to her.

Outside the Library - a bit too eager there

Lewis would soon find Sans grabbing his hand before he could touch the scarf. He didn't look bothered, in fact he looked like he was already expecting something like that to happen.

"yea, figured you'd connect the dots. still, please don't touch my brother's scarf," he requested, still keeping a mostly casual tone of voice.

Eve|Library|Here we go

Ben was happy to hear her plans. She had more than the Four she was going to outline now, but these were the easiest. Of her other plans, one included a truly ludicrous amount of white lights, another the assistance of a drunk grumpy scientist, and another was a 58 page masterpiece of complexity that she was going to write down and frame when she got back home.

"Before we continue, I need you to know that these are the simplest, and the easiest. They are not nessicarily the best options. I also need you to listen quietly until I've finished. I'll explain all my reasoning, but you can't jump the gun. Got it?"

I can try and help think of ideas to help you if you want me to," he replied. As he said that, he began to think of ways that he could try and get Ghostfreak trapped somewhere else (besides the obvious "ask Miss Tairee about it" idea).

Morty stared through the window for a few more seconds before realizing that there was someone on the other side of the glass, who hadn't, by all accounts, been there before. The shock alone sent him jumping back; arms pinwheeling wildly, he managed to right himself before falling flat on his ass and got a better look at the newcomer - youngish, sorta white hair, and... oh boy, was that a knife on her hip?

"Aw jeez." he mumbled before scooting back up against the glass. "Um. Lily. W-we kinda, sorta, I mean, we might kinda have a situation here, i-if you know... you know, we got a real... newcomer... situation here."

Eve|Library|You Want The Plans! You Can't Handle The Plans!

Eve breathed an almost imperceptible sigh of relief when Ben said he'd listen.

"First thing we should do is ask Miss Tairee. It seems obvious, but she is here to help. If she can't help, we haven't gained anything. But we haven't lost anything either."

This next one could be tricky. Ben probably wouldn't like it. But if she had to, she'd go behind his back to do it.

"Second thing to do is ask the Writer. He is all powerful, and controls everything within the City. He could probably remove Ghostfreak from the City entirely, without sending him back to your world."

Give Ben a second to get over his indignation.

"These last two are last resorts. They will buy us time, but they won't fix everything."

"We could kill Ghostfreak. He should respawn how he arrived in the City; in the watch. The absolute last resort is...."

Breathe, Eve. In and Out. In. Out.

"...is to kill you. You'd respawn how you arrived in the City. Ghostfreak would be in the Omnitrix."

She looked down at her hands, anxiously waiting for his reaction to her last statement.

Electronics Store- Instructions Unclear, Threatened Newcomer

Morty reacted with surprise at something. Since Lily's job was to protect the boy, she unceremoniously dropped Abel and pulled out her sword. She then stood in between Morty and the window he was afraid of and growled at it. That would show that window.

Ben listened as Eve laid down the plans. The first was very similar to a plan he was thinking of, so he nodded gently when she brought it up. The second was something Ben was pretty unwilling to do, but he kept his disdain for said plan hidden for now, he said he would let her explain her reasoning. The third made him wince. He really didn't want to put Ghostfreak back into the watch because it'd start giving him nightmares and freaking him out again.

Then she mentioned the fourth plan (which even she was having trouble saying). Ben turned pale, eyes widening. When he recovered from his stunned expression (which took a little bit, as it was shocking to hear Eve say that), he thought about it for a moment. He frowned. "I think the first idea is the best one," he told her. "I don't wanna ask the Writer for anything, and he'd probably mess with it like he did with Rex, I don't want there to be consequences for everyone else. Besides, I doubt he'd wanna do anything for me after I chewed him out earlier today."

He crossed his arms. "Putting Ghostfreak back into the watch would just delay the problem, he'd come back again and the problem would start over. And killing me..." He shuddered. "Geez, warn me before you give me such scary plans. Anyway, killing me would again just delay the problem. And if what you're saying is true and I'll come back exactly the way I came here, wouldn't I lose all the aliens that I scanned in the City?" he asked. "You're right. That should be the absolute last resort. We gotta try a bunch of ways before we... uh... go with that," he muttered.

Abel - Electronics Store - k thx

Abel remained grumpy up until Lily dropped him, landing with a sick thud right on his tailbone, and, conveniently, Rixis's tail. The monster in question recoiled from the sudden pain and flickered above Abel's collar, just quick enough for anybody to see (if they were looking at him in the first place.) Abel quickly stood up and shushed Rixis, standing behind Lily and looking at the girl in the window with a mix of curiosity and nervousness.

Eve|Library|Just As Planned

Eve winced visibly at Ben's reaction to the fourth plan. She had expected it, but it still hurt to see it. It was completely understandable though. His reactions were pretty well what she had expected. Agreement with the first, disagreement with the second, unease about the third and open dislike and fear about the fourth. Though the new reason he provided for not dying made sense, and it wasn't something she had thought of. She nodded in agreement to Ben's pronouncement about trying other things.

"It was always a last resort. Besides, Ben, I wasn't suggesting you ask the Writer. If you're worried about it going wrong, I don't necessarily need to accept whatever deal is offered."

Ciri - Electronics Store

A large monster, some sort of sick cross between an ogroid and cursed one, held a massive sword in its hands and growled threateningly as the child fell to the ground. The poor thing was so terrified that he had to pull himself up again to the window - he must have mistaken it for an open door and was now trapped. The beast had dropped another child to the ground to retrieve its sword, she could only hope that they were both unharmed so far. She may not have ever seen a monster of this type, but considering its appearance, the children, and her own past experiences, it was a good bet that it ate humans.

Reaching up to the sheathe on her back, Ciri withdrew the silver sword within as she transported herself a few feet forwards so that she would be through the window and outside the building, putting herself between Morty and Lily.

"Leave the children alone," she declared to Lily, holding her sword out firmly in both hands in a defensive position, one foot tapping on the ground.

"Hurry, get behind me while I distract it," she hissed quietly, but firmly, to Abel. "Run when you have a chance."

"Wait, wait wait wait wait wait," stammered Mort, positioning himself between Lily and the newcomer in such a way that her sword wouldn't be able to get at the Super Mutant with out first shish kebabing Morty. "I - I - we - I've seen this before, you're new, you get dragged into, a, a...multiverse... crossover... thing - and you automatically interpret.. .everything as a threat... 'cause it's a misunderstanding and, uh, b-but we're all good and, uh, not monsters. Because w-we're all on the same side here."

There was a conspicuous pause.

"I think."

"I- I'm Morty, this is Lily," he continued, motioning vaguely to the hulking slab of navy blue muscle behind him, as if she hadn't been threatening to murder Ciri a few seconds ago, "and, uh, that's... w-w-w-uh- what's your name again?"

Abel - Electronics Store - YEAHOKAYBYE

"Don't have to tell me twice," Abel muttered as he attempted to flee from whatever he had gotten himself into. Before he could, though, Morty started to make a scene and try to explain something to the newcomer, except he could hardly understand a thing in between the stutters. What he could glean from it, though, seemed to match perfectly with Abel's own situation. As soon as he got here, he already felt like something hostile was in the air and was prepared to kill anything that stepped in front of him.

Well, that might be exaggerating, but you get the idea.

Morty asked for his name, and for a brief moment he almost answered honestly. Abel cleared his throat and looked away wistfully, and in the best cool-guy voice he could come up with, he said "It's better if you don't know my na—OW!"

The facade was immediately broken by Rixis biting his ear. "Ow, ow, all right, jeez...it's Abel."

The Library
Sora smiled at Ben's approval and then got comfortable inside his bubble again. He sat there, quietly, allowing her to explain what she was planning to do.

The first idea did seem the most easy and the best but even Sora doubted that it would work. You can't just poof away something like Ghostfreak without there being something to bite you back for doing it.....

....which lead to the second option. He could make him disappear but at what cost? What new evil would he spawn in return? Asides, you must learn to face the Darkness. Just hoping that it would go away would only allow it to grow. Anti-Form informed him of that. Don't be consumed by it but learn to weather yourself against it and then strike back. Don't let it still your heart. Don't let it steal your hopes and dreams.

The third option was something that Sora could get behind. Something that he knew that would be possible. But there was still the fact that Ghostfreak would still be there, lurking deep in Ben's watch. A Darkness that couldn't be wiped away. It was sad but sometimes you can't be afraid from it. Sometimes you have to accept that force and just realize that Light can't live without the shadows.

But the fourth option.....Sora let out some tears. A sacrifice in order to do what is right. Sora could understand that. Sora didn't want to happen to Ben. Even now he could hear his magic wielding friend yelling out "Sora!" in a voice that you could hear the raw emotion. Such pain was unneeded for someone Ben's age.

Sora cried some more, the memories of that event seeming to hit him all over again. He never told anyone but that scarred him so much. I did though because it was the right thing to do. Sora rubbed his face under his nose, making a breathing in noise while doing it.

Sora looked down at Ben and with a caring tone told him, "Ben, I want you to do everything you can to do the first or second option. If you can't do those, I need to tell you that I understand that you don't want him back in the watch. It's scary to think that something as dark as him can exist alongside you, just waiting to burst out again. I won't lie and tell you that I'm not scared of that too. A heart as good as your's doesn't deserve a burden like that. Just know that it's not a burden that you won't carry alone. Eve will be there waiting to help you put him back in and I would fight to the end to make sure that Ghostfreak leaves everyone alone."

Sora then looked back up at the ceiling through his bubble and continued, "As for the fourth choice........fear it with all of your heart. If not for yourself then at least for your friends. That's a choice that I hope that you never have to make. Just remember that you aren't a hero for being afraid of that. That only makes you human."

Sora then nodded his head. It was frighting stuff but it's the kind of stuff you have to talk about when you face off against your fears. Sora finished off, this time with a more cheerful tone and a goal to let go of some of the tension, with, "But I'm sure that fourth option won't be needed at all! You, me, and Eve can handle that Ghostjerk! I mean, hunchback. Pair of scissors. Snip-snip. Right?" At that, Sora aimed a big smile at the two. This team runs on happy faces!

Ben listened to Eve's reply, then to Sora's opinion on the choices that he would have to make. Sora's opinions seemed to be very similar to his own, and he nodded. "Thank you," he told Sora. "I will. I am not going to throw myself away like that without some serious thought. Though..." He sighed. "We should really start thinking about this tomorrow. "Oh, is that all this is then?" Ciri said to Morty, holding her sword a little lower but not yet putting it away. "Not the best idea to go growling at people you meet, I would say," she added to Lily before focusing on the boy again.

"I think I can be forgiven for misinterpreting the situation," she told him. "A small, frail little boy who looks half-starved and falling over in fright, stuttering, pausing every few words as if out of breath, thoughts wandering because something else has your focus. Tell me, Morty, what are you all doing here then?"
