Two And Makoto Sitting In A Tunnel, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, And That Don't Even Rhyme

"I suppose that's true." For a proponent of an idea of sticking together, I certainly didn't seem to have a right mindset for it. Still, Makoto was right. If my sisters were in danger, I would try my best to come to their rescue. "And yes, they were travelling in a larger group. I hope they're okay." I replied, frowning. "With luck, we'd be able to find them again, but the city shifting makes it a chancy proposition at best."

"And, if you'll excuse me, I still need to find Yuna. I hope you don't mind if we keep going."

Tunnels with Two- Can't Run Away From It

"Right, the shifting make everything a gamble no matter which direction we go in," Makoto said. "But I guess that's the fastest way to run into someone else. Hopefully someone that'll help this time..." At this point, she didn't know what she'd do or say to Lewis if she saw him again. She didn't really know how she felt about it right now either, as if it hadn't finished sinking in yet. Two brought up Yuna again, and Makoto recalled how she'd... kind of ran from that entire situation. Sure, she couldn't do much to help, but still.

"...Of course not, that's important. Sorry, I should have stayed to keep an eye on her. I wasn't...I guess I'm still not thinking straight."

Deep facility

Swishee settled down on top of a machine, using roost to heal herself up a bit. Ace climbed out of the hole carrying the unconscious Goldeneye, setting him down on the even floor. Then Ace went over to the empty luxury ball, and was trying to figure out how to get Goldeneye back into it.

Meanwhile, Valentina slowly walked over to Ben, looking much more relaxed now, though she still had her defensive bubble up. "You really expect tomorrow to be an even greater challenge than today?" Valentina asked him, curiously. "Well, I would think we best find someplace we can better rest" the sorceress then suggested, while Amelia was taking one of her bolts and setting the end alight as a crude torch again.

"Wow, that was kind of an anticlimax." announced Rick matter of factly as he finished wrenching the head off a feebly twitching robot, stuffing a few stray circuitboards and wires into the inner pocket of his labcoat. "So anyway, who wants to get dinner or something?"

He thought and shot another look up to something above him, before firing another portal in the middle of the room. "Actually, I gotta take care of something."

Cave

"What the hell?" yelled Morty, immediately throwing up his arms. "What the hell are you talking about?"

Once the pokeball was sufficiently clean, Riley returned it to his pocket, quickly followed by Salamence, who would probably need to let off some steam in the near future.

Being able to sense positive emotions again was a relief, and Riley watched the others with interest before turning his attention to Ace. That seemed to be a problem he could help with.

Lucario stayed at his heel as he approached the blaziken. "Need some help there?" he gestured at the pokeball on the ground.

Near the morgue — All's well that ends well

Rex consciously took more than normal to answer Silanea's question. Did he really trust Eve? 'Trust' was maybe too strong a word but she wasn't going to stab him on the back anytime soon. He knew that at least. Now, even if she meant well and had actually figured out a plan, chances were her plan wouldn't accomplish much. Rex's nanites were stubborn—maybe more than him—and would fight tooth and nail the minute someone tried to mess with their job. But that was hardly enough to stop Rex from trying. If anything, the possibility of her being right was a bit more unnerving.

"...she's very smart and very prideful. If she says she found something, I'm at least going to hear her out"

Just like that, the lights went out in the room leading to the staircase. And the robot trying to kill a civilian stopped dead on its tracks and went down without a putting up a fight. Something was happening. And hopefully whoever was still fighting whoever controlled the facility had something to do with it.

"Can't say I blame you, I wouldn't want to fight me" Rex joked. If he couldn't start a fight, he was going to make do by insulting the killer robots, even when they couldn't answer back "You ok dude?" he asked Gon.

Lewis, activate monologue y/n

I chuckled out of nerves. "That's the mystery, ain't it. There's no tellin' when you got a read on someone, the moment you think you do, whoosh, there goes the 50 foot overhang out from under you, have fun swearing out your mistakes on the way down. I'm not even making that up, I still don't know if that was even his own free will or if I'm some kind of self-deluding assbag. Can't take nuthin' for grant—WHAT!?" I gave a death glare at the roselia, the interruption not helping at all.

"You have some idea of where to find food?" Darturien asked towards Rick, sounding interested in some dinner himself.

Meanwhile, Ace looked at Riley and squawked and nodded in affirmation, then motioned at the unconscious Goldeneye, then at the pokeball.

Drama cave, or not

Lil' Sunny was a bit surprised at first, looking a bit hurt by Lewis' snap for a few moments... Then, she gave a few hesitant chirps asking how Lewis was. Then she gave some more happy chirps, and waved her 'hands' around, trying to cheer him up.

Near the morgue

"Hear her out... Alright, I understand" Silanea said, bringing up one of her ethereal blades again for a bit of light as she followed Rex, glancing towards Gon with only mild curiosity.

Ben glanced up at Valentina as she approached him, and he nodded tiredly.

"Yeah," Ben said quietly. "Though really I don't know what's coming up. Knowing the Writer it's not good..." He sighed, slumping a little more against the metal walls.

"Things were all so much better in my world. It never had evil of this level. I was used to fighting bad guys, but not total monsters like him." He finally slumped to the point that he was completely on the floor.

"And now my friends are lost in some cave and I don't know where any of them are. Eve, Louie, Yuna, Hercules... what if they're in danger? I wouldn't be able to come get them. Louie's all by himself without any of his Pokemon friends, he's gonna be bug food without that..." he groaned. "I hate this place."

"Here you go," Riley said as he picked up the pokeball and sent the claydol back. With that done, he looked back at Lucario, who seemed to be completely relaxed. His aura, however, was tense, and upset.

"Lu-"

"Don't you dare try to do what he did," Lucario interrupted.

Riley's eyebrow shot up. "He?"

"That other trainer. I don't care what he thought he was doing, but if you're in a situation like that, let me handle it."

Two and Makoto Walk Down The Tunnel Some More

"Don't blame yourself for it." I shook my head. It was becoming disheartening, just walking down the darkened path with no goal in sight, but it was all we had on hand. There was no other choice but to press on forward. "You're as tired as the rest of us, especially if one of the demons possessed you earlier." I added, offering Makoto a smile and a gentle pat on the head.

"Your friend threw himself into the attack to save me" Amelia commented as she walked over to Valentina and Ben. "Whatever happens to him now, it was his choice" the ranger pointed out.

"I have my doubts that he was really thinking much about the long term consequences in that brief amount of time" Valentina pointed out in turn, then returned her focus to Ben. "Still, his bravery and quick action is commendable. We are grateful" the sorceress added.

"Now, would you rather stay here, or find somewhere else to rest?" Valentina asked Ben.

In the background, Nimbus made it stop raining as he switched back to his little sun form.

Ace relaxed a little bit when Riley returned Goldeneye to the pokeball, but then he gave an indignant squawk- he would ruffle his feathers a bit too but they were wet at the moment- and held out a hand, demanding the pokeball back.

Ben sighed, leaning back on the floor.

"I don't know," Ben muttered. "It doesn't really matter. There isn't really a safe place here. We should just keep watch. Guard the doors. Make sure monsters and stuff can't get in."

He was completely bushed, and the pain of being so separated from the other City Knights with no way to find them was eating away at him.

Before the bickering could get out of hand, a squawk sounded nearby. Riley blinked and looked down at the pokeball in his hands before remembering what was going on.

"Cave fungus is good eatin',' shrugged Rick. "I mean, if you cook it right. And if it's hallucinogenic enough that you don't have to worry about the terrible taste." With that, he slipped through the portal, leaving it open for a few minutes if anyone else was interested in getting some delicious fungi.

Cave

"What the hell are you talking about?" said Morty, not wanting to take his hands down from. "A-are you - did you lick some kind of cave fungus or something? Did you-"

Whatever Morty was about to ask would never be answered; at that moment, there was a grinding noise from somewhere nearby, as a hulking robot appeared, head spinning madly and waving its pincers...

and promptly collapsed as an unmistakeable green portal flared to life behind it, disgorging an all-too-familiar figure.

"Hey, what's up, while you were probably getting eaten by cave monsters and shit, yeah, I pretty much singlehandedly saved the entire *uuurp* city. Now we're even, right?" announced the silhouetted figure. "We're totally even, Morty, t-the karmic scales have been balanced, you never get to bring up the fact I almost sold you off as a hostage again." Rick blinked and took stock of the situation he'd wandered into.

"...oh. I-is this a bad time? Should I come back?"

Tunnels-Type Advantage Sucks

"Yes, but...I've fought demons like that one at home more than once without that much trouble," Makoto tried to explain, before Two...patted her on the head. She blinked and went silent, taking a few seconds to process what had happened. She'd be more upset if someone else had done it in a condescending way, but this time, it'd just left her a little embarrassed, but placated for the moment. It reminded her of Sae, from before things changed. Makoto relaxed slightly more into the scarf and jacket that she had wrapped around her.

"I-it just caught me off guard, and I was protecting two other people at the same time, and...I admit I was never great at resisting that kind of magic." She didn't want to look completely incompetent in front of Two. Her luck with the Shadows that preferred mind altering attacks or wearing people down with lingering injuries wasn't the best to begin with. And that particular one had Psychokinesis spells too... It'd really been a bad match-up from the start, something Makoto would have preferred to kick with an ambush. It was hard to ambush anyone when you had to give away your position with your own light-source though. "It was a string of unfortunate circumstances."

I blinked at the roselia, clueless as to what it was trying to do. It looked to be in a good mood for some reason, if...almost concerned-sounding. Maybe it was just one of those types out to give diabetes to everyone in a 50 mile radius? ...That didn't sound right. Did it really think a 2 minute happy dance was going to make everything better? Just, sorta magic away the aching and emptiness?

Slap a cheap band-aid on a disembowelment, will ya?

I'd begun turning away from it again, before the sound of some interruption that my hand swung to fire in the general direction of before I'd even really registered what it was.

Two And Makoto Discuss Type Strengths And Weaknesses

"I think you're just tired and stressed out." I replied. I didn't doubt that Makoto has faced far worse foes before, but from what I could gather of how she normally tackled such enemies, she and her team had a far more time to rest up and get ready. Here things just happened near-constantly and there was no feasible place to rest, especially not today. "It's not easy to resist a poisonous influence on your mind."

Makoto didn't know about the Flower - I don't recall her being there for when Caboose and Yuna helped me fix this mess. There was no need worrying her over things long gone. "Not even the greatest warrior can defeat all foes if the tide turns against them. Don't worry. If anyone tries this with us now, I'll give him a piece of their mind." I allowed myself a grin that some might have perceived as cocky. "And not in a way they'd have liked."

"...Tired and stressed is an understatement," Makoto said, though if Two wasn't to go with that excuse for her, that was fine. The thought of another mind controlling enemy showing up wasn't something she wanted to contemplate, and she shook her head. "I'm sure you would, but...that doesn't have to be... today, right?" she asked. She'd been resisting sleep for a while now, but it didn't seem like such a bad idea anymore. It was getting harder to keep up her train of thought. "Tell them to wait for tomorrow...Or maybe in a few days?" Makoto's head tilted over to rest on Two's arm, barely able to keep her eyes open.

Yuna Yuki (Civilian Crowd) - This Is Fine

Yuna struggled a bit when she found herself forced to choose between following her friends and staying in the safety of the large group of people. Under normal circumstances she would have tagged along with Eve, Rean and Hercules in a heartbeat; however, she had a little kid under her care now, so as much as it pained her, she had to stick with the safe option and just believe in her friends. She knew they could look after themselves. As long as they stuck together they'd probably be fine, wouldn't they?

So, with the hopes that her friends would be able to handle things on their own, Yuna proceeded to follow the group of people led by the militia. And, for a while, things were fine. She was able to keep up and keep her positive attitude despite the blurry vision and the shortness of breath. And the fatigue. And the pain in her chest. And the increasing numbness in her limbs. And the few injuries that hadn't been healed yet.

Needless to say, she was very much aware that something was deeply wrong by that point, but she didn't want to make Seirwuosuhr or Caboose worry about her. They had been through enough on their own without adding her own problems into the mix.

"I hope we find a good place soon," the young girl wondered aloud. "Walking so much is a bit tiring, and I'm really looking forward to getting some sleep."

The whole city handwave

Time ticked on, and eventually the world would pause with a blur; for some the change may have come abruptly, the impending change taking them by surprise without a way to otherwise tell the passage of time. For others, they might have gotten some rest first, if they were lucky...

Catching up with others, Louie butting heads edition

Luckily, Louie had not respawned to come under attack from underground monsters, but at this point, he was kinda thinking that would be better than what actually happened. "How could you lie to us about that!? What the heck, dude!?" Louie yelled at Thomas the young wizard, who was currently holding up his wand with a bright light at the end of it to illuminate the cave around them.

"It wasn't about lying to you; it was about keeping information against our opponent, Ghostfreak" Thomas said, fairly annoyed. "If he thought that I didn't have any way to fight against him, he would probably try to ambush me, and I could then use this magic as a surprise against him. That wouldn't work if he knew I could do it. Besides, it was a day of no harm; lighting my spell then and there wouldn't have helped, anyway" the wizard explained, glaring at Louie in frustration.

"What the heck does that matter for?! Ben was worried and afraid of the dark; your spell could've helped him calm down! What, you don't care about helping out your friends!?" Louie retorted, accusingly.

"I care about keeping everyone safe here! That monster was a threat to anyone in the city, not just Ben! I'm not here to selfishly prioritize just my own friends! That kind of attitude is why I left the knights to join the militia!" Thomas yelled back, his frustration snapping over.

"Well I care about not turning my back on my friends!" Louie shouted.

"And you'd let innocent people be in greater danger just so your friends can feel better?!" Thomas asked accusingly.

"What?! No, of course not! But I'd find some way to keep them safe without hurting my friends!" Louie retorted.

"What if you couldn't?!" Thomas added, as the obvious follow up.

"I'd find some way!" Louie answered more fervently.

"That's dodging the question! What if you couldn't!?" Thomas replied.

"THEN I'D STILL TRY! I WOULD RATHER DIE! LIKE I JUST DID, JUMPING IN FRONT OF A ROCKET!" Louie screamed out at the top of his lungs, leaving him gasping for breath afterward, and shaking; shaking in anger and shaking over what had transpired down further below.

Both boys were silent for a few moments, then Thomas turned around. "I'm sorry about what happened, but I have a job to do" Thomas muttered, and started walking away.

"Hey! So what, are we not friends anymore?! Even after what we went through together?!" the trainer called out, still shaking a bit.

Thomas stopped in his tracks, but didn't turn or even move otherwise. "... I don't know" Thomas answered, then resumed walking.

Louie couldn't seem to get his legs to follow, as much as he felt like going over there and forcing Thomas to answer the question; or sock the wizard in the face. Instead however, the trainer's legs just kept shaking, and slowly started to give out from under him as he leaned, then slumped, then sat against the rocky wall, crying.

With the militia and escorts

Wells kept the group moving, along with Cole, for around another hour since they left the bunker, encountering a few more people who joined along and having a close call with narrowly avoiding some subterranean monsters. Though they never found a place that Wells considered satisfactory in terms of being defensible, they were forced to come to a stop as multiple of the civilians tagging along were becoming too tired and exhausted to continue on. They rested in a cavern dimly lit by green moss and mushrooms, while Wells, Fastanook, and the other militia member took turns on watch.

Wells wasn't happy with the location, looking fairly disgruntled and occasionally muttering to himself that it would be a disaster to get attacked here. Thankfully however, they were able to pass the rest of the night without an attack...

Deep facility trailing off...

"Your friends will still be alive, one way or another" Valentina said, her tone rather flat.

"... Was that supposed to make him feel better?" Amelia asked the sorceress after a moment.

"Hm? Well yes, I was trying to be reassuring" Valentina answered, a bit confused in tone, and adding, "was that not obvious?" She had a further brief pause as some projectile suddenly struck her shield from Rick's portal, but since it seemed to be the only one, and it hadn't broken her shield, she let it go for now.

"You really did never learn how to deal with children, did you?" Darturien muttered; it was a rhetorical question.

"W-well no, I have to dedicate all my time to studying the nature of magic!" Valentina pointed out, a bit flustered.

"When was the last time you actually spoke with a kid?" Amelia asked her friend.

"I spoke with your son a few years back!" Valentina replied.

"You mean when he was still in his cradle? When he couldn't talk back or understand you?" Amelia added. Valentina was just silent after that, a fairly defeated expression on her face. Amelia sighed, and moved closer to Ben, crouching down and placing her crossbow away, slung on her back. "I'm sure everything will work out fine. Come on, why don't we find you somewhere more comfortable to lay down" the ranger offered to Ben, and would see about carrying him around the facility room until finding something soft to put Ben onto, unless he protested.

Meanwhile, Ace took the pokeball and gave an intense stare towards Lucario before turning and walking away, squawking to call Swishee, Pecha, and Nimbus over. The pokemon left soon after that, determined to try to find their trainer before the day ended...

Cave with Lewis, Morty, and now Rick too

Lil' Sunny continued her happy cheering, until the gun went off, when she did a little startled jump, and looked between Rick and Lewis. She gave some concerned chirps, again tugging on Lewis' pant leg, trying desperately to tell him to stop.

Somewhere...

"Man, are these people always so down in the dumps?" Tset Diy Signh'ere asked, before munching on some more popcorn.

"Amazing how being kidnapped from your home universe and being subject to threats day in and day out can sap your enthusiasm, isn't it?" Miss Tairee asked rhetorically in return, her tone a tad spiteful. She had returned to the couch and 'theater screen' after some time, her and Tset vaguely making ammends at the time.

"I just would've expected more of them to try to make the most of it that they can, you know?" Tset explained in return. "Seems nearly all of them know that it's just temporary, and that they'll be sent home and be just fine when it's done. Makes more sense to me than just complaining all the time" he went on.

"Go and remind yourself what it actually feels like to die, and then think it over again" Miss Tairee told him bluntly, her arms folded.

"... Oh, right" Tset muttered, and let the topic drop.

"Honestly I think the day went better than expected" Tester commented from beside the couch. "Total deaths in the city were less than 17.48% of what my calculations estimated given the rules laid out for the day" the AI explained.

"Yeah see, actually not that bad, right?" Tset mentioned, motioning an arm to the AI. "And come on Sekreh Tairee; you know the multiverse isn't all sunshine and rainbows. They have to have some bad days" he pointed out.

Miss Tairee sighed, unfolding her arms. "I suppose you're right... It just seems like the bad days outnumber the good" Miss Tairee muttered.

"Maybe... But I bet the happy endings will outnumber the sad ones" Tset said, in a fairly confident and upbeat tone, as he got up from the couch. "Anyway, we better get back to work; I got some calls I gotta do" he added, grabbing a flip phone from his pocket and flipping it open. After some brief dialing, there was a cut in the air, and he was gone.

"We should schedule some time off to play more games, when this is done" Tester suggested, then several of his screens flashed rapidly, and the rapid pixellation effect went over him before he too was gone.

"... Well, rules for the next day are ready?" Miss Tairee said aloud. There was the sound of writing, and she could see Writer's words. Along with them, a piece of paper floated over for her to take and read.

"Indeed. It should not be a bad day, however, you probably won't like it anyway."

Miss Tairee read the paper for a few moments, then her eyes widened and twitched a little. "Wh- Bu- Again with the- Can't I just- just..." Miss Tairee sputtered, before finally sighing in defeat. "... Uggggghhh... At least mister Signh'ere is already gone. I just know he'd tease me over this" she thought out loud, crumpling up the paper and dropping it, then stamping on it with her heel.

"Come on then, let's... Get it over with..." Miss Tairee added, folding her arms again and glancing aside with a frown.

Day twenty four, the mashup rewind
The library

The world came back into focus, and one of Miss Tairee, who was currently in eleven places at once, gave a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose. Being in eleven places at once wasn't the problem; since there was no limit to the mental modifications they could do, Miss Tairee could be in a literally infinite number of places at once and still be handling it just fine. No, it was just...

The fairy tale day Miss Tairee copy let go of her nose and glanced down at the fancy, frilly, bright pink, princess style dress she was wearing. "By Writer, Director, and Developer, I hate this dress..." the fairy tale day Miss Tairee muttered to herself, as she moved over to behind the central desks along with the other two copies of herself that she didn't particularly like for the day: The zergling Miss Tairee from the animal transformation day, and the cartoon Miss Tairee from the black and white day who could only talk in strange horn noises. As the three of them settled in behind the desks, she glanced to her zergling self, and gave a brief, "hmm" of thought, before reaching over and petting her zergling self like one might pet a dog. "Oh, disappointing. It's just like rubbing your own leg" she thought out loud.

Elsewhere in the lobby, Rachel was quick to wake up, a little confused to see that she was still herself, just now dressed like a medieval peasant. "Huh? Didn't we already do this one?" Rachel thought out loud, while checking herself and being pleased to find that she still had her walkie talkie. She was about to start speaking into it, but paused, slowly turning and looking out the windows, her mouth falling open speechless.

There wasn't any sign of Veela nearby, but there was some little furry orb creature sleeping on one of the couches.

The Miss Tairee in a green shirt and blue skirt from the food themed day moved over to the sound dampening bubble that was still around one of the couches and the television, which was now just a proper, large flat-screen. "Ben? Cole? Louie?" the palette swapped Miss Tairee asked quietly, looking to see if they were still there. Louie was, sleeping fitfully; he was currently aged up into a young adult version of himself.

Catching up with others, the pyromaniac edition

The floran continued to not care about the world around herself, and just continued to stare at the flame. She had always been obsessed with fire; it was what defined most of her life, but, she'd never really been on fire before, until... Yesterday. She'd burned herself a few times, of course, but never had flames been directly using her own body as fuel, and so finally, brutally experiencing what she had been doing to other people over the years... It gave her something to think a lot about.

So it was until the world finally blurred, and she found herself in an apartment room of a cyberpunk style skyscraper. She looked out through the window at the streets and neon signs, and oddly, a tropical ocean area in the distance, and beyond that some kind of moon floating out there.

The world outside didn't hold too much importance to her at the moment, and she instead checked herself; she seemed to be herself still, though her armor was gone, replaced with some familiar tribal garments and... Her body wasn't exactly the same... She was younger now, her body rewound to before her full maturation, back when she had only ever been on one planet. Her flamethrower was replaced with a simple lighter, which produced a little flame after a few flicks. She sat down on the bed, and continued to stare at the flame...

Catching up with others, murderhobos edition

With a yelp of falling over, Darturien was the first awake, having been placed once again standing, since he was the one on watch when the day had shifted. "What is this, where am I now?" Darturien thought out loud, pausing as he looked at his outfit again, which was physically the same, but now mostly green and smelling of mint.

"We're back together; that's the where, at least" Cleyo answered as he opened the door to the room he'd been asleep in; his own outfit was now a bright orange. "But I'm wondering why my cloak tastes like apricot jam" the rogue added, experimentally and hesitantly touching it with his tongue.

"Is that what this day is? Some kind of... Food day?" Amelia asked, frowning slightly at her blackberry cloak and pumpkin pie crossbow.

"Not quite; the building around us is still normal" Valentina pointed out as she ran a hand over the wood frame. Her dress was now a light blue. Gatorade. "The more important question is, does our equipment still function the way it's supposed to?" the sorceress added, glancing to Tristen as he walked into the room in his milk chocolate armor.

Tristen raised an arm, and there was a shlink of metal sliding against metal. "Seems like it still works" Tristen said simply, and the sound repeated again.

"Good, then we don't have to worry about defending ourselves" Valentina said, checking out the building they were in some more. It was a large frat house, and out the living room window, Valentina could see a sprawling campus area. "I've seen the city be like this already... No wait, that's different" the sorceress mentioned, seeing that in the distance was an area like a massive toybox.

Deep Facility— Day 23

Lucario returned the look, and Riley could feel the competitiveness swelling in his partner's aura. Fortunately, they didn't have much time to actually act on that. Before Riley could even speak, the world started to blur in a familiar way. The next thing he knew, he was back in the familiar tunnels of Iron Island.

Library— Day 24, Back to Arcade

Slowly but surely, one of the revolving doors was nudged open by a dog who looked dead on his feet, covered in dirt. Not that that was the most noticeable thing about the dog. That would most definitely be the brain in a jar on his head. Once he shoved his way through the door, he glanced around the room a bit and eventually just collapsed in an exhausted pile.

I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."

Day 23- Tunnels

Makoto did eventually end up sleeping, though this time it was dreamless. She was once again unaware of the day shifting, even when she was suddenly moved to a different location.

Day 24-Jungle Area, Home Sweet Home Treehouse. Rabbit Form

Back in the hotel room she and Rex had slept in, everything was roughly how it'd been before the cave day. Her bag was on the floor, but the flashlight was gone. However, Rex's jacket was on part of the bed, draped over a small, slighly moving lump. It appeared to be breathing in a somewhat fast, but steady manner. Makoto's cellphone was next to it, along with her gun.

Day 24, Jungle, Home Sweet Home, age-up thanks to day 5 — How much more data can we fit here?

Rex woke up without the back pain he was expecting product of sleeping on the floor of a tunnel. In fact he was in a bed. Not a particularly comfortable one but a bed nonetheless. His clothes were the ones he usually wore and he didn't feel any different than usual. Nothing weird was going on. Then again, the room was made of wood now, and not the processed kind that was so common back home. Rex stood up and checked outside the window. A pretty lively jungle stared back at him, just like it had roughly a month ago or so.

"...again?" more than annoyance, his words carried confusion. It was silly to think the Writer would run out of ideas—he probably had planned everything from the start—but what was the point of repeating a day's condition? Luckily, as far as days went, this one wasn't all that bad. It wasn't even in Rex's top 5.

"Oh hey, my jacket..." Rex stopped himself right before trying to reach said piece of clothing. Last time he checked, Makoto had it with her, and Rex hadn't died so it couldn't have teleported on its own back to him. Speaking of Makoto, her stuff were also in the room like her bag. But more important than that was the small detail that... something was moving underneath Rex's jacket. With his luck a bug had probably claimed its new home in it.

"You better not try to bite me" he said, removing the jacket from the bed.
