Why did Ainz repeatedly call Foresight "dirty scum" despite them repeatedly showing selflesness and honor right in front of him? And why Ainz even care about them supposedly "only caring about money" anyway?
To have an excuse to kill them I would imagine. He is not exactly upstanding himself so being a complete hypocrite is certainly not impossible.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaYeah, Ainz is being a bit of hypocrite here, that's kind of the point. This is more or less where Ainz himself starts getting really nasty himself rather than just being jerked around by the actions of the Floor Guardians.
He says it outright he didnt exactly like this plan from the start, but is too far ahead to stop it. His desire to keep up his act is probably a dwep seated fear of losing thr loyalty of the Nazarixk, despite them seemingly to all have unconditional and undying loyalty to him.
In short; hes trying to Beome the Mask.
Read up some of what happens in the latter novels (stuff that the anime will start getting to in the final arc). He's not trying, he's succeeding.
Wow...That emperor is really sharp. Not only does he know when he's outmatched, he also figured out he had been betrayed by one simple non-action.
He is shown to run a very merit based government afterall.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. He does get some things wrong. Like just about every other character in the series, he ends up projecting a lot on Momonga.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIf he decides to start a band Love King Ainz Ooal Gown would probably be a great title to go with.
Death Knight's serving drinks was amazing to see.
I am curious on who they are actually going to try and convert to their side.
While I assume the chances of this actually happening are very low I would be curious to see what would happen if Demiurge learned that Ainz is not as all knowing as he thinks he is.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaNovel spoilers:
They don't try to convert anyone in the end. After the Dark Young Massacre, Jircniv's nerve is shattered. After his last ditch attempt to form an alliance with the Slane Theocracy is foiled by Ainz (accidentally no less), Jircniv completely gives up and offers the Empire up as a vassal state.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWell what happened to those poor bastards in Nazarick makes me think that if the concept of Overlord were given to a far more talented writer with experience in deconstructing a genre, like Urobuchi, this could legitimately be a great deconstruction of the isekai genre.
? Why would you hand it off a comedy series to a complete hack?
This counts as a comedy?
Admittedly my only experience with Urobuchi is Madoka and Fate Zero. The former was brilliant and latter was disappointing.
I suppose one could call it a comedy since it has some comedic moments.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaJesus I can do without the whining.
Like I don’t see how Gen could write this better aside from just being even more darker & edgier than it already is.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah I am like 75% sure this is a comedy, or at least the author thinks it is.
Then the author should stick to doing edgy isekai and not romcom, because this series has some of the worst comedy I've ever seen.
"or at least the author thinks it is."
Overlord is in no way trying to be a deconstruction (God I hate that term now) of anything, nor do I view it as a straight-up comedy like Kono Suba. It's a normal MMO anime given a few interesting twists and genuine effort in the characters and worldbuilding to make the series more entertaining than it would be on paper. I like Gen, but I wouldn't be interested in seeing Overlord handled by him or anyone else.
Well put Melon, very well put.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Gen did a great job with Kamen Rider Gaim, turning the plot serious and dramatic without being grimderp. However given his other shows, I suspect that he was constrained by the genre and tone somewhat - constraints which did him good.
Giving him Overlord's setting and solitary direction won't work.

I didn't call Overlord a deconstruction, I stated that under a more talented writer the premise of Overlord could be used as a great deconstruction of the isekai genre.
It really wouldn't be a deconstruction either because the premise itself alienates it from the staple of the genre.
Maybe a deconstruction in the fact that if you take an otaku and give them broken powers and dump them in a fantasy world, being a hero or even a good person is not always gonna be their main inclination?
That was a great episode. Arche vomitting at the sight of Ainz's true power was probably the highlight, as well as Mare's Fissure at the end.
