Well that sucks. Nintendo's not doing a straight "pay us $30 to upgrade your membership", it's a full new subscription... discounted by 5¢ per day remaining. I'm not sure I can fit that in with everything else I need eShop credit for (since I'm currently limited to using eShop cards).

So does anybody have the USB N64 Controller? Cause I just want to know if it has a spot for a Controller Pak or not. I'm aware Rumble is set up as a non-pak version(automatic or something like that).

Wait, is there seriously no option to just do a monthly payment like they have with the regular membership?

That seems like a big oversight. It would definitely help a lot with the increased price.

I know the L button adjusts the music volume during the race. Did you try that? Also there's no music for 3-4 player modes last I remembered.

That's odd. Guess it's been a while since I've played.

So Nintendo had to Nintendo and made the N64 controls suck if you're not using the original controller. And there's no remap option outside of the system-wide option. Which can't even change the right stick being mapped to C buttons.

I have to second that, as while choices are good and Nintendo should start allowing controller remapping on a game-by-game basis... I legitimately don't know where else you'd want the C-buttons mapped to.

EDIT: Oh, I guess the D-Pad. In the case of games that don't use it, the D-Pad might be preferable to dealing with the right analog for C-button inputs?

You know what, I’ll share my physical game collection/backlog. I won’t count my digital collection as I have a lot of digital games.

And that’s all my physical games. If we were to count digital then this list would easily double in size.

In regards to the controls, why can’t Nintendo just give us the option for button mapping? They did that with the Wii U VC so why are they allergic to having options?

Jesus christ dude that is way too long a post. Please be more considerate for people having to scroll past that.

Anyway the C-Buttons being mapped to the right stick doesn't bother me (where else would they go?) but I would like controller mapping anyway. If only because I'd like to be able to use a Gamecube controller, but Gamecube controller doesn't have a minus button and thus you can't access the suspend menu with it.

That post took hours to make, lol.

That’s why I put everything in a bunch of folders to mitigate how long it would look. I’ll edit it.

That makes me feel much better about my recently ballooning backlog. It feels much more manageable compared to that behemoth.

It looks like the N64 controller is sold out here in Australia too.

I'm not too concerned though, for quite a while its been easy to get the NES/SNES controllers after some issues at the start. So I figure the same will happen.

And the subscription requirement cuts down on mass scalping by a fair bit I'd think

Yep, I have a gigantic collection. Which is why that post took hours (I was writing in Google Docs so that I wouldn’t be stuck on the “write post” page here).

And also why it was so big initially was because I originally separated everything by console, as opposed to just brand (though Nintendo’s consoles and handhelds are separated).

I can't imagine owning that many games physically. I just don't have the room for that sort of thing.

It was built up over 10 years. And I’m just now starting to run out of room.

I’m a collector.

I also have another PS 3 game coming in the mail tomorrow.

EDIT: Should point out that all the Nintendo handhelds, Game Gear, Xbox, 360, and N64 games aren’t actually taking up shelf space in my room. The Xbox games are in another room entirely, Game Gear games are in a drawer, Game Boy and Color games are up top of one of my shelves, GBA and DS games are in a GBA travel bag, and 3DS games are in my closet, so that’s how I managed my space.

I have the NSO since somebody is paying the family plan I'm part of. So that's not an issue for me?

I found my answer about how the N64 controller is, that's all. Anyway, I'm going to have to test my USB N64 setup to see how well it works.

I’m excited to play the N64 games.

Less so for the Genesis games as most are on Switch in other places, but MUSHA and Strider aren’t and I love those games.

The past month has taught me that you are incredibly hype for N64 games. I'm kinda jealous of your excitement.

I love retro games and the N64 and PS 1 era had a lot of great games.

N64 also has a lot of nostalgic memories for me as my friends and I would play the multiplayer games via the Wii VC back in High School during the early 2010s.

I grew up on the N64 as well, but I also have memories of 3rd party games like Goldeneye, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Blast Corps, etc. I don't have a strong desire to play Mario Kart 64 and I would rather play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door over the N64 Paper Mario.

I actually agree that TTYD is better than the original Paper Mario.
