I understand but I feel that's kinda limiting there are quite a lot of other franchises aside from those that also have princesses and would fit this roleplay better than many of the most mainstream ones like for example atlantis or elena of Avalor while I find it questionable that princesses like cinderella or aurora would fit very well since they don't really have the attitude or skills for war and have a tiny supporting cast.
Also that lineup doesn't make much sense when you consider that they put mulan in there despite the fact that she's not a princess.
Also when you consider that many disney characters can communicate with animals anyway maybe establishing diplomatic relationship with a civilization of animals may not be that far fetched in their context at least or we could have the narnia route and have the animals be able to talk just like humans do.

@Kiobi 20: Lizard isn't using the entire Disney princess lineup. He said he's only using Elsa, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Rapunzel, Anna, and Merida. He didn't even mention Mulan. Now Cinderella and Belle aren't really princesses either, (heck I'm not even sure if Snow White is, too) but clearly he's aiming for the more thematic version of a "Disney Princess." EDIT: Apparently Belle is actually a princess? That's news to me; I don't remember that being a thing at all in the original Beauty and the Beast.
That said I think the idea of talking animal characters could still be neat, but I don't know about a full kingdom of them either. Seems like just having an occasional one as a rare thing would be more appropriate. Obviously, both of those would be up to Lizard.
@Lizard Of Aus: Few things. It seems a little odd to me to give Frozen double billing with both Elsa and Anna. How about even if Anna stays, she isn't one of the "seven princesses"; for a replacement suggestion, how about Jasmine? She's even actually a princess. (Okay, "daughter of a Sultan" if we're splitting hairs, but in everything but exact title it's the same thing.)
Also, with 35 different potential character slots to fill, I feel like you might want to let players have two, maybe even three characters, especially when considering that there will probably be drop-outs... Hmm, perhaps a system where players who stick around can take over the characters of those who dropped out?
Last, a question. Will it be only existing Disney cartoon characters or original characters? Or could someone signup with an existing character from a non-Disney franchise? (Suitably altered to fit the setting, of course.)

You are reading this.Long time no see, Firock, hope you've been doing well. Lot of points to break down here- I'll try to address them all.
- Cinderella and Belle both married a prince, and according to Princess and the Frog, that counts for something. Snow White was the daughter of the original royal family too, so yeah, she's a princess as well.
- Having the Pride Lands be a 'kingdom' might be worth exploring in later versions of the game, if we ever get that far, but for now, I think I'll stick with the main roster, and arrange the layout based on what princesses there's a particular demand for.
- My main reasoning for having both Frozen girls in was a need for someone to take the Iron Throne position at the highest point of power. Who better for the role than the girl who'd be a Disney Princess if she weren't in fact a queen? I thought perhaps in this reality, Elsa was appointed high ruler of the realms, then left Arendelle its own sub-ruler, the same as the other countries. But then, of course, her own sister would be on the Council of Princesses, which could raise some gossip and controversy as the other nobles suspect a conflict of interest.
- In the original version of the game, dropouts were punishable by character death, which seems fitting for a game derived from a franchise where anyone and everyone can die. Still, though, both your suggestions have merit. I'll keep them in consideration
- I think it'll be a half-and-half of Canon and OC, given that there are only so many characters from the movies and TV shows that could fit a role (I mean really, how else would you fill the roles of Snow White's kingdom?) I might even let a couple different movies be blended into one faction to give players a little more freedom, most likely based along these lines. That said, though, if there's a particular character archetype from outside of Disney that you think could work, I might consider allowing you to rework them into a halfway-OC.

It's fine I understand
I'm doing okay, all things considered. I'd be cautious about the killing off of characters from dropped out players; in my experience here, it's not uncommon to have as many as three fourths of the players who originally signed up before a game starts to no longer be posting by around 2-4 weeks after the game starts. That could be a fair chunk of important, not-simple-to-replace characters, especially in a game about political leadership and intrigue.
Also, by "later versions" you mean like, reboots? Sequels? Simply new stuff added in later story lines to spice things up?
That latter one could be a great way to incorporate some of the other "official Disney princesses" later. New foreign nations coming into contact, perhaps?

You are reading this.Later seasons is what I mean- so yeah, sequels. Once the ten or so episodes are completed, we can see if it's worth 'renewing the show' so to speak.
Sounds perfect to me.
Gonna throw that in here to see, if anybody would be interested in it:
Valhalla of Legends. The idea is inspired by things like Hyun's Dojo and other stick-fighter videos. Basically, fighters, mages, sci-fi soldiers and more duel it out to figure out who the best is or gain an incredible prize. The duels are held in a pocket-dimension between worlds.
That would be the barebones plot, which would evolve further as the story progresses. Progress is achieved through duels, fights and battel royales. The GM (me) deciding on stage, rules and such things. Tropers can design their own fighters, with the same rules applying to everyone. Backstory, personality, all of it contributing to the story as they clash, form relationships, rivalries and so on.
No matter of loss or victors, fighters can be modified and trained to keep things interesting. For the start, everyone would have access to the same baseline of combat-abilities, which function on the following rule: The more powerful an attack, the longer it needs to be charged. Simple attack requires only 1 post, medium attacks 2 and great attacks require 3 post-charge.
Tropers can be allowed to post multiple times in the row, if they achieve the right conditions. Like stunning their opponent, or maybe having a timeskip ability. A general rule is though, the stronger an ability the more downsides and drawbacks it has. For example, time-skip? Maybe you take dmg from using it or you suffer backlash, allowing your opponent to post multiple times after it, should you fail to take him out. Stuff like that.
Style would be anime-based, which means quick movement and pacing and the usual tropes of aura's, powering up, etc.
The GM can sometimes throw in interruptions, items or similar to keep things interesting. Maybe a monster appears in the middle of a duel? Or the winning fighter suddenly suffers from a poison that had been slipped into his food before a fight. Suggestions for such things can be posted and can be incoporated for the battle.
The goal is to weave awesome fights, interesting narratives and nail-biting conclusion. And explosions. That, as well...

Sounds like fun, so designing a Doomguy for that.
As long, as he isn't called "Doomguy", sure.
That's why I said "A doomguy"
Well, I committed now. If anyone wants to join in, you can do so now in the Sign-Up thread.
Hope this takes off.
As for me, I'll get to work on a map and some setting fluff. See if I can't get Princess GOT going by the end of a fortnight.
So, I've been thinking about yet another Pokémon RP (yay!), except it's a mix between an academy/school setting and Pokémon.
The chars are all students in a prestigious Pokémon academy, they can end up specializing in areas related to Pokémon studies that aren't limited to being tamers or rangers (such as Pokéball engineery, for example) and develop according to their player's wishes. I imagine they travel around the world in missions requested to their academy, and might stumble upon another Team _____ who's up to something.
Imagine Pokémon x Trails of Cold Steel.
I'm not sure if I can GM a RP like this, but I do appreciate the idea at least.
I’m a bit curious, but intrigued about the Pokémon thing. Elaborate a bit more.
“You see son, in life there are facts and there are opinions. Your opinion is wrong, and that’s a fact”Also, still offering interested tropers to check out Valhalla of Legends. Everything up and just waiting on players.
If you have played Trails of Cold Steel, it's easier to imagine what I'm trying to convey.
The player characters are freshmen in a prestigious pokémon academy, and all belong to the same class and share the same professor (who represents them). They'd study all sort of things there, from pokémon biology to pokémon related engineery/chemistry (pokéball design, potion ingredients etc., for example) to more social studies that treat about the relationship between people and pokémon etc, although that's mostly fluff for their curricular activities. Where their chars will take their specialization is entirely up to the player, they don't necessarily need to become trainers (although they'll need to fight during the RPG).
Their class travel on field trips around the continent and it's the part where they get to explore biomes/new cities for a few days, in order to complete some quests there or simply to be there for some special occasion/event. That's also where the plot will advance (maybe there's a team like Plasma or Rocket or whatever up to something).

That actually does seem really interesting. I’m still pretty new to play by post, so I probably won’t dm, but I am certainly interested.
“You see son, in life there are facts and there are opinions. Your opinion is wrong, and that’s a fact”That sounds interesting, keeping an eye if it actually could happen.
Wake me up at your own risk.Anyone interested in a Paranoia themed RPG game? For those who don't know, Paranoia takes place in a dystopian utopian future ruled by the dangerously inept benevolent AI, Friend Computer. Players will be trouble shooters assigned to find trouble within the extremely obsolescent everything is perfectly fine, really, arcology of Alpha Complex and then shoot it.

Paranoia - The Most Fun You Can Have With Deadly Lasers!I dunno if I pitched this one before or if even someone else did:
RWBY rp, 4-5 players. Each players makes a ‘’whole’’ team of 4 characters. Each player takes the role of a character on one of those teams, except the team creator in the case of 5 players and those that take up the role may suggest changes to their character.
More collaborative storytelling than one GM, everyone putting in plots and antagonists of their own design. An AU to one degree or another depending on how players prefer to shape the setting.
I'd be down for participating in that
...Interesting idea, although some might be hard for some to think up four characters if I'm reading that right. >.<
And yeah, that Pokemon Academy idea sounds it's got potential.
Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.I made a crossover RP signup thread if anyone's interested.
Would anyone be interested in a RPG set in the world of the TV Series, Leverage? If you don't know the series, picture Oceans 13 or whatever your favorite heist movie is, only with a small crew and with a strong Robin Hood vibe. Story would be is that someone wants to set up a new team of criminals to take down the corrupt/selfish people in city X. You and your fellow players have been recruited as the newest franchise/branch office of Leverage Incorporated, presuming you pass the audition.
Paranoia - The Most Fun You Can Have With Deadly Lasers!
Oof. Erg. Well, now I'm really torn, because on the one hand that's kind of perfect, but on the other, I'd really rather stick with humans for the trial run of the game.
EDIT: Let me rephrase- humans that are officially members of the princess franchise thing
