It happens A LOT when crotchety evil old men don't get their way. They tend to take it out on their subordinates, even if those subordinates have GREAT PHENOMENAL POWER, itty bitty little sanity, and see nothing wrong with killing people.

I guess it's just that the sheer humiliation and/or rage of the moment makes them forget that they can be killed too.

Yes, Myiabi got off easy. Heck, all the "Rebels" keep getting off easy. Frankly, I have no problem killing people who come at me with guns. Why do these Blaze students keep letting those "Rebels" live?

Otherwise, it was really awesome watching the fighting. Julie and Tor really are best for each other.

Glad to see Lilith step down a bit and let Julie have Tor. She's got more class than she previously let on.

Now comes the "final battle" with K. Can we please just kill him this time? He wore out his welcome long ago.

Well, double checking the LN, a second season is unlikely at this point as we've reached vol 4 of 6 currently available. (Volumes 5 and 6 not yet fully translated.)

So barring some Gecko ending, this looks like it's pretty much it for a long while.

The LN apparently had Toru donkey punching Miyabi into submission.

This is what we could have had. Yandere Miybai was entertaining. But lol, expecting this show to do anything better.

We can probably add "Unintentionally Unsympathetic" to the YMMV listing Miyabi. The LN has Myabi tricked by Equipment Smith into agreeing to the UNIT in a Kyuubi sort of way. (She made it back to te mainland with the rest of the cast, and Equipment Smith approached her on the school's track and field as if he belonged there, using Sakuya's name to make Miyabi THINK he was with the schools research facility working under the dean per her orders.)

Readers of the LN can also add "Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds" for K. Along with perhaps, "funny Aneurysm moment."

Since the anime is almost purely from Tor's viewpoint, we don't get to see that K is actually Tor's and Julie's foil. Unlike Tor, who wants to grow stronger so as to never have his loved ones taken from him ever again, or Julie who focuses her rage and hatred on the people who wronged her, K instead, lashes out at people he perceives as having healthy relationships to make them feel the pain HE is going through purely out of envy, and the fact that he sees his protector dying while trying to protect him as an act of absolute betrayal.

If the anime remains faithful to the LN, the final battle with K will be truly epic. Let's just say, if you were impressed with what Julie showed in episode 9, you haven't seen anything yet.

Now how about that.

You've made me interested in the LN.

So they all have to take nanomachines (son) to become Exceed but Julie awakened the power on her own... and that power is clearly far greater than their imitation.

Forget about Toru and Lilith, Julie is the special one here.

The main problem I have with this series is that even in the end they didn't explain shit. Who were the people that Toru and Julie want to take revenge on? What is Absolute Duo and why the council of Chuunis want to achieve it so badly? Nothing was explained.

Oh also, for a harem show, the only relationship that seems to matter is Toru and Julie. Well it is called Absolute Duo but I think the whole harem designation was just pointlessly tacked on.

But aside from that I quite liked this show. The action scenes were cool especially due to use of teamwork, and Toru and Julie relationship was adorable. I could go for a second season of this.

[up]I could agree with that. The harem stuff was mostly pointless, although I wish they had done more with Lilith. (I'm still expecting an absolute trio by the end of the series).

[up][up] They haven't explained anything because it's not in the source material. While Tor and Julie do have similar circumstances, it is not revealed (even as far as half-way through volume 5) if their respective Dark and Troubled pasts are related. Tor has yet to reveal any details about the massacre of his Dojo, and the death of his sister to anyone, even the audience (aside from what we've already seen.) Julie is only aware of it because Tor cried out in his sleep and she was sharing his bed which gave her the courage to share HER story with him.

While this (final) episode was quite entertaining, the obvious low budget adaptation compression left out a LOT of content here that would have made the fight far more epic in scope. Tsukumi had a much larger role, for example.

Still, as always, Tor and Julie's relationship IS the best part of the story.

[up][up]Lilith was really underused. She spent the first part being an unlikable spoiled brat and after that she just kind of played the second fiddle to Julie.

Still better than Tachibana who had the inglorious role of providing moral support to Miyabi.

[up]Ah, so even in the novel they still didn't explain the most fundamental plot point yet.

Episode 12: Got a sorta good action scene out of it at least.

Lilith really is underused. She didn't have to start sucking in combat and in romantic rivalry. Can't really fault her for the latter, seeing as the harem aspect is tacked on.

@ Harem-author The LN does seem to be better by a mile. Smith tricking Miyabi into the Rebel suit is a vast improvement over the poor excuse of emotional manipulation the anime portrayed.

Volume 5 is fully translated, and at the end, we finally learn the name of the guy Toru wants to take his vengeance out on, the only guy Toru wants to kill. While he IS the guy that killed K's brother, he had nothing to do with the death of Julie's father.
