I've legitimately surprised we're seeing this again.

It’s amazing how Escanor’s whole bit has stayed relatively unchanged.

Usually the invincible character is only invincible for his premier fight & every fight afterwards with him he becomes vincible.

Not here though.

So he just flails his darkness around really fast? Pfft.

Is it time for Escannor ex machina again? Or will something interesting happens for a change.

Now that Mael regained his memories, his grace will return to him leaving Escannor hosed.

So his abulity moves at the speed of Darkness!

This is all happening before the memories of Mael came back, and when that happened we saw Zeldris and Cusack, as well as Ludociel (and Hendrickson?), and they all seemed fine, except for the memories.

Dare I say, something might actually happen to make Escanor lose?

Oh, please. Escanor dying would seriously swing this manga up an extra six points.

I find it really amusing that nearly none of the demons recognize Sunshine. Even big bad Chandler goes "oh that's vaguely familiar".

Want to know what I find kind of darkly amusing?

A few years back, in the OP thread we had some pretty heated debates over whether the character Trafalgar Law was too overpowered to be a protagonist, and whether he could basically solve everything for the heroes with his abilities. They were rough for a while, but they died down once he started losing in the next arc.

A few years later, and that exact scenario happens for real in another series with Escanor.

I mean...hell, Law had a compelling backstory, got his ass kicked a bit and didn't have a creepy, borderline pedophile crush on someone.

My point is, a few years ago people were worried that Law would turn out to be what Escanor actually turned out to be.

Just because he isn't focused anymore doesn't whipe away Law's bullshit.

I feel like it was a minority of voices with Law. Hell, it's a minority of voice with Escanor - most fans love him.

It kinda does.

I feel like the Escanor love is more to the meme than the character himself.

Now that we've seen exactly what G4 Luffy, the Emperors' commanders, and the Emperors themselves are capable of Law seems utterly So Last Season to me.

And again, I just have to point out that Chandler could just make it night and that would totally neutralize Escanor as a threat.

Being So Last Season still doesn't excuse stuff. Unless you wanna see Birdcage 2.0.

He got his arm chopped off, had his ultimate attack nullified, & spent most of the final fight with Doffy on the ground immobalized.

Yeah I think we're square.

Escanor has gotten slapped around a bit. It still doesn't fix the issues with him.

Escanor being annoying and stupidly overpowered is less annoying to me than he's that and has his fucking creepy Merlin obsession.

Not his fault that Merlin hides her appearance from everyone.

Not her fault she's not into him and he's a creep and a jerk to her basically a son Arthur.

He found a way to go even lower by being jealous of Hawk because Merlin experiments on the pig.

because this manga's source of comedy is terrible people molesting/creeping on each other.

This issue runs into how all the Sins need to have a romantic interest.

No Goddamn bachelor or bachelorette's on this team.

Plus Escanor is treated positively despite acting like an obnoxious douche.

I think you meant comedically when he's doing that.

And when he did make a callous need to have big dick to impress remark towards Arthur and his current state Merlin got pissed at him. At least If I remember right.

I was actually fine with Escanor beating Galan.

Then his mere soul kicked the ass of an even stronger Commandment, and it was all downhill from there.
