Last time we went for a boring protagonist who doesn't actually talk, there was more salt then the Dead Sea.

It's not their fault people don't appreciate Dragon Quest.

Dragon Quest has never been super popular in the west and the "anime sword wielder" meme is strong. It was never going to go over well.

[up]Well, they'll have that saw-blade thing so I'm willing to swallow it.

Hunter Weapons can switch into different weapons, like a cane into a whip. How would that work in Smash Bros?

it doesn't necessarily need a particular mechanic, transforming could just be part of the attack. Either that, or you make yet another stance system character. Nothing we haven't seen so far.

The Thread Hunts Again.

What starting weapon does everybody like? I haven't played the game for a while so I'm on my first run and I've only used the Threaded Cane (not as the only weapon) so far.

It just seemed...posh, killing monsters with a cane like walking around with a swordcane and pulling off the "old man calls an ambulance but not for him" meme. Also, I was curious about this "Skill" stat so I wanted to try to specialize in that.

Also, it turns into a whip, which...sorta helps with the whole "calm aristocrat" aesthetic? Like, mostly in a "Southern antebellum gentlemen" way.

Axe, really. If I'm going to go dive into arcane I'll be using the saw spear soon anyway.

Threaded cane can get you pretty far. I ended up favouring the hunter’s axe by the end of the game though.

By default, any Soul series I play I go DEX. So Threaded Cane and work my way towards Rakuyo.

Any other ones I go Saw and work from there.

[up]Why do you go for DEX so often, if you don't mind me asking?

big fan of the axe. The spin to win charged R2 is great for clearing packs of mobs. Saw cleaver never did much for me, comparatively.

I don't usually get too excited watching Soulsborne gameplay, but 1:35 to 1:40

Hunter went for that wide swing, Gas was just like NOPE, took that hit like a CHAMPION and knocked Hunter back.

After giving it a go and not getting hooked, I'm trying Bloodborne again. Maybe it's because I'm fresh off of Sekiro and Stranger of Paradise, but the combat is both easier and a bit duller than I remembered. Beat both Cleric Beast and Gascoigne first try (cut it close on the latter though), and then got swarmed and stunlocked to death by a couple of rats in the truest From Soft tradition. I appreciate that the level and world design is as intricate and dense as Dark Souls 1's, though it's stressful to not have any idea if where I'm going is a side path for extra goodies or the critical path. A possible reason why I'm having an easier time is having bitten the bullet and betrayed my DEX soul for big heavy weapons — they probably lose out on DPS versus bosses, but range and stagger capacity are too useful against mobs to pass up. Was the Hunter Axe always that good? It's blowing the Saw Cleaver, Spear and even Kirkhammer out of the water right now.

Well, I'm only at the second area. I'm sure I'll be eating my words before too long, since the bonus bosses of this game usually rank as the hardest in any From Soft game.

The Hunter Axe is amazing, yes. I used it basically through the entire endgame.

I decided to give Bloodborne another try after my last time playing ended up with a rage-quitting tantrum after dying to Amygdala like 40 or 50 times.

This time I went with pure Arcane (just enough STR and DEX for Ludwig's Holy Blade) and I'm having a blast. I one shorted Amygdala this time around and the only boss who's given me trouble was Logarius due to his high resistance to arcane.

I don't know if I should go to the other Night are area or the DLC next. While I decide, I'm exploring the Lower Pthumerian Dungeon and it's kinda cool.

Ironically, I kinda miss the random invasions from other From Software games. I didn't think I would but those 3 invasions I had in the frontier were kind of exciting.
