This is supposed to be a multiverse, right? Why does it seem like each universe only has one planet in it?

For all we know, each universe does only have one planet with life on it. Presumably life doesn't arise randomly, it's only placed by the gods, and then the people on each planet never get around to casual space travel. And even if a universe does have multiple living planets, a conqueror isn't going to bother searching for centuries when he can just hop over to the next universe much easier by the King's Road.

Or maybe they just mined the rest of the universe for resources too

I imagine this is the first time in centuries Mammon has left his vault, surprised he's lucid enough to do that.

Man, Salami Dave had great hair back in the day. Why'd he go bald?

And how did he get Mammon and Mottom to the same table without killing each other?

I find Mammon's words very telling, to me it seems like he's actually more angry about the deaths of his followers than about his wealth.

Dave didn't go bald. He simply decided his hair was beneath him.

What's precedent ever done for us?

It's interesting to see the style each demiurge has. Jadis's group go for the wizardly Pyramid Head look, Mottom's kind of has a Middle Eastern / Central Asian aesthetic, Mammon's entourage go for chainsaw clergy, and Gog-Agog is here with the fucking cult of the Insane Clown Posse.

And neither Salami Dave or David Bowie feel the need for an entourage.

And of course they're blaming Zoss for ending their cold war, even though it was unsustainable and they all know (except Solomon) that they are doing horrific things to their slices of the universe. There was basically no upside to the system they had besides "the multiverse has not currently been annihilated."

No guarantees that Allison will be better, but it's basically impossible for her to be worse.

She could upset the existing order, lose to Jagganoth, and cause the end of the multiverse. That would count as worse to me.

[up] The existing order's already been upset plus it's one that quite frankly, sucks so maybe it's time for an upheaval.

It was the current council that upset it. Old Zoss, say what you will, had already established peace. They ursurped him, the Heir is merely meant to achieve a restoration.

In a universe where everyone (including Solomon) has to earn their power one way or another, Solomon still thinks the guy who is sitting on his ass in Solomon's palace is more likely to be the inheritor of infinite power than the girl who is fighting and training for it.

Didn't Mottom realize Allison was the true heir in the end? Seems odd that she's on board with insulting her now and worrying about Zaid.

[up] Maybe she's keeping that bit of information to herself.

Also why is David looking after the guy who's (supposedly) going to kill him and overthrow his empire?

He's trying to control him. Even if he can't stop the prophecy entirely, perhaps he can mitigate some parts of it. Maybe enough to save himself and/or his empire from total destruction. From his perspective, anything is better than just letting the heir run around free. That way lies nothing but chaos.

As for why the other demiurges would allow this plan, that's a little trickier. Jadis doesn't have an opinion (and her priests don't seem to have much power beyond repeating her prophecies), Mammon is barely aware of what's happening, Mottom is fine with Solomon holding Zaid if he can protect him, Gog-Agog only seems interested in what is most entertaining and thus doesn't care about Zaid, and Incubus knows Allison is the true heir.

[up] Mammon seems to be much more aware ever since his vault was attacked, i'm thinking that even in his more coherent mental state he cares less about his empire and more about his followers so he doesn't give a damn either way.

I'm pretty sure Solomon would be against killing Zaid when he hasn't actually done anything wrong yet, and Zaid has a lot of people who would like to kill him right now.

Solomon is demonstrating the wisdom of Yis-Aesma here. Violence is the multiversal art and the communication all understand.

Wasnt Solomon looking for an heir, himself?
