If I'm not mistaken, Xiao has an unrevealed septima too.

[up] There's speculation that he has a time-based septima due to wearing three watches and being dressed as the White Rabbit for Halloween promo art.

Another reason to believe Xiao has it is Ghauri being denied the power. As can be seen in early concept art, Ghauri was originally going to be a Time Master. According to designer comments in the Complete Works, that was discarded due to "certain reasons..." despite the character designer liking it.

Well, I could buy Inti saying "he's not an Adept" as a lie to hide Xiao's role later, but... Where exactly it was state that he has Septimal power? (between material books and drama tracks I have so much to look at)

When you first choose GV's story in 2, after the opening stages.

Bunch of new iX info. Adepts are now the majority of the population, Sumeragi is an adept supremacist group, and normal humans (known as Minos) are being exterminated by them.

Heavy implication of timeline shenanigans going on, as "Savior of the Minos" Copen is said to be looking for something called the Butterfly Effect.

Yeah, sounds fishy...

I get that Adepts are the majority elsewhere (background story from Fleeting Memories, I think?), but how's Sumeragi still active after GV 2? And I thought Sumeragi oppressed Adepts instead of humans (with the best of intentions, but still)? And Lola can't really have the power of the Muse if this doesn't happen after GV 2.

In another news, this "Blade" character sounds mysterious as heck. High rank Sumeragi enforcer with lightning powers? Swordplay? Dammit, I want him(?) as playable now. Could be a new "Zero". :D

The new Adept bosses look great too, and some of Copen's new EX weapons are activated by dashing. He's got a new screen-clear move as well.

[up] Fleeting Memories didn't establish adepts being the majority anywhere. What it did reveal is that when they first began emerging, their population was tiny and able to coexist with normal humans. Then their population began growing and relations broke down, although they're still a small minority by the time the games take place.

Sumeragi as a whole was a self-serving MegaCorp with a nationalist bent. It oppressed and experimented on adepts, but that was just for profit and order. They had no problem using normal humans as guinea pigs too, and adepts who joined and agreed to have their power restrained could get officer and executive positions. Sumeragi was a shell of its former self and presumably had its reputation ruined by the end of 2, but they probably still existed.

Another thing to note is that Blade aka alt-GV's profile mentions him being "under the direct command of Sumeragi's supervisory AI". That definitely isn't something that Sumeragi originally had.

Gotta wonder how much time passed between GV 2 and IX then. Or at least, whatever the heck happened.

Well, it's gonna be out in September so it's not gonna be too long, at least...

I don't understand how Sumeragi would be finished by what happened in GV 2. They lost a lot of power as a result. But they would still be very wealthy and powerful.

[up] But I doubt that they can suddenly go into "oppressing muggles mode"... unless there's a significant Time Skip involved.

Maybe it's like Neo Arcadia between Zero 3 and 4 - after Dr. Weil failed in his plan of using Omega, he's showing his "true colors" - and the same happening to Sumeragi here?

I imagine just some things changed with it. Like Adepts did not use to be the majority, and Sumeragi was not run by an AI.

Right. I just caught the new trailer myself. It hasn't been posted here, so...

Yeah, I agree there's been some time screwing here. I don't fully recall what the original situation with the first two Gunvolt games were in the case of Adepts, but I'm pretty sure that as powerful as they were, they weren't the majority.

Mostly, I'm annoyed that the game contrived a way to make Copen the hero even though he's likely murdered a lot of innocent Adepts who were victims of Sumeragi (except his own sister, because he's a hypocrite).

One Strip! One Strip!

I can't wait to see how all the bosses are going to be more sympathetic than our protagonist.

Well I kinda doubt that considering some of the previous bosses.

This is reminding of when I heard that the original Idea for the next game was to have Gunvolt as the Villian and Copen as the hero.

It occurred to me, but aren't GV's powers artificial? He got them due to Sumeragi experimenting on him.

Maybe Blade is the result of another such experiment?

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.
