Kairi stays with Riku the whole way through.

She tries to get him to go to Sora, and when he won't, she pushes him.

Physically.

Off a roof.

Into Sora's path.

You have a mysterious protector that seems to be Ansem, with Soul Eater,

And then a girl in a black hood that isn't even trying to mask Kairi's voice and she says Ansem because he wants her to, but everytime she says it like she's making fun of him.

Naminé goes with Sora instead.

Ah, right, you did mention that Namine would be with Sora. My bad, forget all that other junk.

How does Sora react to the whole "Kairi's hanging out with Ansem" thing?

Confused and upset and worried and panicked.

He gets mad at Naminé and calls her a terrible daughter (a running gag I have planned is. Days involves a little low-key flirting between Naminé and Kairi and Riku, and also in COM she did sorta brainwash them, but the moment Sora wakes up and she explains the Nobody thing Sora just goes, "oh, you're our kid" and Naminé and everyone hates it.)

But Naminé just shrugs and says Kairi made her promise not to tell.

I'm curious what he thinks is going on with Kairi, though?

I mean, Goofy, the smart one, mentions and explains Stockholm syndrome, and that makes Sora worried.

...A thing I've considered is.

The Keyblade of Heart looks dark, right?

And, in lore, it's the key to the Door to Darkness.

So, a thing Ive considered is.

Kairi learns how to use it to do darkness stuff with it.

But, on the principle.

Cold is just the absence of heat, dark is the absence of light. Irl. Not in KH, for dark and light.

But even in KH, light and darkness ebb and flow. They respond to each other.

So the idea I had was essentially controlling darkness through controlling light. Moving light away so the darkness fills the vacuum. Sorta.

Ish.

So if Sora sees her with Ansem, and thinks she's using darkness now, like.

I don't know how many selfies or Instagram posts she has to send him over the Gummiphone to make him stop worrying. Probably never enough.

Hood up, obviously, even though he knows it's her.

Xigbar shouldn't be allowed to talk about "kids these days" under any circimstances.

Riku trying to do his brooding and Kairi pretending to help but actually not allowing any of it is basically all of kh2 in this.

...He does get to brood in Days a bit, though, because I sorta, have her go with Mickey? Basically just so I can make her the first new keyblade master out of spite.

And to have her connect the keyblade war lore to her grandma's story, which. I mean, technically is also spite, in the sense that Kairi having a character at all is.

And, comparing Mickey writing letters to Kairi writing letters is a genuinely interesting thing until Chip and Dale ruin it by inventing Gummiphones.

I don't think I can capture the raw energy and power of this dance scene.

I'm trying, but.

Holy shit, this level of animation for a direct-to-VHS sequel is unreal.

I mean, I keep rewriting it because I don't think I'm good at dance or choreography writing.

All That's Left update I see.

...Weird that I linked it.

Dorked are you okay.

...I just realized that I have no idea what the titles should be.

The main series title The Sea-Change of fate is.

Like it's a definition joke "change brougbt by the sea" but also.

Xehanort's Report

Upon reflection, my life underwent the most considerable sea-change when I arrived at that place.

Which.

Sea-change is a turn of phrase that I like Xehanort using because of tbe implications of him tying back to his roots on the Islands.

That I sorta am irritated KHIII did nothing with.

...Fuck me Xehanort is a mess.

But anyway.

I need more ocean and water puns. And phrases.

First breath barely was but I still counted it.

Tempestuous also counted, to me. I guess it's more stormy, windy, Ventusy, but.

When I think,Tempestuous I think The Tempest, by Shakespeare, about a shipwreck, I guess, so.

Hmm...if you don't think you're good enough with the choreography, then maybe you could have the scene start, and then just cut away to another scene for a bit, and then cut back to everyone staring in amazement (and maybe link to the scene in question)?

Oh, I was just really tired and forgot to post it here, haha. In my defense, I had gotten up at 1 AM for my shift. :P But we had fun on that chapter. The BEN scene was extremely gross with all the black sludge, but I'm rather pleased with the little Mushroom entourage.

Choreography is definitely heard, though, so I know your pain. Some things are just extremely tricky to convey through text alone without it sounding oddly mechanical. Karkat's suggestion isn't a bad one!

Could always do something with character introspection/reaction, too?

Character introspection is my shit.

Like, I'm posting this Donald snippet and.

"DONALD!" Kairi cried, rushing forward when the barrier shattered, readying a cure spell.

Only to find Donald was the one standing, relatively unharmed.

The fallen Della at his feet vanished, and Donald sighed and turned towards the nearby Gummi Ship, with "Spear of Selene" emblazoned on the side. As they watched, it rocketed into the sky, and then vanished, the darkness between worlds enclosing around it.

Donald sighed, and concentrated, and then they were instantly standing in an office, another Donald than the one with her standing between a pram full of eggs and a duck with whiskers and a top hat, screaming.

The King stood by to the side, with his head down, a sad look on his face, and Donald scowled at him before turning away in disgust and stalking out the room with the eggs, slamming the door behind him.

She saw Donald with the rooster and parrot from earlier, juggling the eggs, and winced when one fell from his grasp.

She saw Donald with three ducklings with a mix of joy and love and mourning pouring from his posture.

"Don't fight with the ones you love," the Donald next to her finally said. "I know it's hard, that sometimes, things happen, or you disagree. And," he added, glancing at her, "If someone's hurting you, you don't just have to take it either," he said, and Kairi frowned. Did she really seem like that much of a doormat?

"...Tell me about her," Kairi finally said, and Donald chuckled.

"I haven't even told my— her own boys, Kairi, I'm sorry but I don't think it'd be appropriate." he finally said.

Kairi shrugged, and plucked some grass from the field around them. "Well, you need to tell them someday," she reasoned, making him wince with hurt. "You could probably use the practice," she then reasoned, making him look at her thoughtfully. "Besides," she added brightly, "With how things are going, I'll probably forget anyway."

Donald snorted.

"Orrrrrr," she said mischievously, "You could tell me all about those cute boyfriends of yours," and Donald actually smiled at that.

"Sorry, but I think you've got enough boyfriend trouble of your own right now," he said, making her blush. "Get back to me when you three have sorted it all out."

"The four of us," Kairi insisted, but Donald just shrugged.

"I was talking about Riku, actually," he said.

"Heeeey!"

"I'm telling you," Donald insisted, "Somethin' about that boy ain't right!"

"You don't even know him," Kairi said sadly.

"Because he keeps trying to kill us," Donald said.

"What about Sora," Kairi asked, interrupting and not wanting to talk about this anymore, as well as morbidly curious despite herself.

Donald shrugged. "I mean, I've got some spells if you need him to sit still for five minutes," and then when Kairi blushed he groaned at her. "Oh, get your head out if the gutter, that's not what I meant."

"What about," Kairi asked, "Me and Naminé?"

"I dunno, I've never met her," Donald said, "But I give you five minutes before you make it weird by talking about how she smells."

"Hey!"

The next scene is Riku, because how could it not be, honestly.

...Before the first KH, Disney wanted Donald to be the protagonist of KH and.

I love Sora and all our Original Characters, some of them more than Nomura himself seems to.

But dear god.

Donald as the main protagonist character in a Kingdom Hearts style plot would be amazing.

I love Ducktales 2017 for showing me how much I fucking love Donald Duck.

That was a very good scene. Maybe a dews where punctuation could be better (though I could be wrong), but still a very good scene. I am 100 percent there for the emotional complexities of Donald Duck.

Nothing I came up with, but someone on another forum posted this, and with permission I'm bringing it over here for y'all's observation.

It's taken me a while to reflect on KH 3 now that I've finished it, and I think my over-arching thoughts pretty much boil down to "we only got half a game." Imagine if KH 2 had ended with the restoration of Radiant Garden.

But!

That's actually something I can live with. The plot we got was satisfying in its own way, and the moment to moment quality of the experience lives up to the hype.

No.

My problems with the game, center almost entirely around the absolute neglect of Kairi. Why even make her a keyblade wielder if she's just going to be set dressing, get barely any lines or screen time, barely even fight anything, and get stuffed in the fridge before she gets to have, like, any reason to be there?

The sheer waste of it!

What would I've done differently, you ask?

Simple.

Remember the part where Merlin calls you back to Twilight Town? After all the mentions that Kairi is off training with Merlin? This return to Twilight Town after Toy Box and Tangled makes you expect Kairi, and instead delivers Pooh. This was the perfect moment wasted moment.

Instead, you walk up, and there, you see Merlin sitting across from Kairi at the bistro.

Scene in to Kairi spotting Sora's approach and lighting the fuck up with joy because she hasn't seen him in subjective months and she also shows off her new battleminidress, which makes Sora blush. Kairi is pleased with this reaction. They talk about her training. Donald and Goofy goad them into a spar.

Gameplay fight for a little, but then back into a scene where it is established that Sora and Kairi are evenly matched. The game then shifts to where you play as Kairi and spar with Sora. (and get to use Kairi's spell set, which has no overlap with Sora's, like, Ruin, Holy, Esuna, Shell etc) You, as Kairi, win the spar.

Scene in to Sora and Kairi geeking out over each other's moves. Donald snarks about Sora. Goofy says something noncommital. Then Merlin, with a wink at Kairi, "borrows" Donald and Goofy for a while. Seizing the opportunity, Sora and Kairi decide to go on a date. Sora cooks them dinner in the bistro minigame, then segue into a gameplay segment where Kairi leads Sora across the rooftops, not as a race, but just as a "c'mon Sora, this way!"

And they arrive at the belltower. Scene in to them sitting inwards of the ledge on a picnic blanket. They talk about their feelings, about how that now that they're equal keybladers they can walk side by side to adventure. They kiss.

Fade to sky and out.

Scene in to Sora and Kairi being teased by Donald and Goofy near the save point, and Kairi being snarky as she reveals she's coming with them.

The next set of the disney worlds play out with Kairi along as a party member, and then they both come crashing to Riku's rescue against Dark Aqua, and then, after the whole team (minus roxas and xion and whoever) is back together and Lea complains about how much this is to memorize, the whole lot of them crash San Fransokyo in a vastly expanded replica!Riku-fucks-with-Baymax-And-Friends plotline, which leads into the Keyblade Graveyard endgame, where Kairi and Sora trade off the Organization fight, (and you play as each of them in turn), separating them for the final showdown, only for them to meet in the tunnel of light back from the Final World and face down Xehanort together.

The end.

You're absolutely right that they wouldn't, and I honestly applaud that write-up. It's a pretty fucking great scripting.

...It's a bit too, like, monogamous and het for my tastes personally, so I dunno that I'd personally write it that way, but like. If that's what you're going for, it's absolutely the best and only good/decent/acceptable way to do it.

If I'm going to get it anyway, it might as well be done well.

Perhaps I was too hard on it.

Also, unnoun, I can’t remember if you’ve mentioned this before, but what are your plans for Kairi in the latter half of Days?

Because I have this image of her fighting with Riku against Roxas at the end, and her stealing Oathkeeper from him and beating the crap out of him with it - I think that’s a rather dark image, sort of illustrating the cost of what they’re trying to do?

Oh God! Natural light!

#2348: Feb 20th 2019 at 9:21:56 AM

I mean.

That's an idea.

I was going to bring up the concept of two Oathkeepers existing at once when, for example, currently in COM Riku has it, or the Wayfinder for it anyway. And in KHII and Days it was still in Sora's pocket. So,

...I dunno why, but part of me likes the idea of OP Roxas, like, a lot.

And, yeah, I might be making Kairi OP as well, but like.

Pretty bold of you to assume that Roxas isn't a Kairi.

The main players I'm picturing are, Xemnas, Roxas, Axel, Mickey, Naminé, Riku and Kairi.

I love the imagery in "Face My Fears" of Roxas and Axel fighting in the rain in what seems to be TWTNW. And also a Chessboard because overly done metaphors.

Saïx just had the shit beaten out of him by Roxas like a day ago. Xigbar shows up to the fighting and Roxas, Kairi, and Naminé just give him a perfectly synchronized Angry Look (TM) and he decides, no, actually, he'll sit this one out, especially without a keyblade.

...Xaldin if he's there could die there, I haven't decided yet.

Larxene tries to be the same bitch nymph as always, but it's mostly an act, because after COM the prospect of being in a combat situation with Naminé scares the shit out of her.

Lol, Zexion and Demyx don't fight anything ever if they can help it.

Luxord might try to make a game out of it, possibly just by taking bets.

Xemnas and Axel are one "side" technically, Mickey, Riku and Kairi are the other, and.

Naminé and Roxas are basically against everyone, trying to set Kingdom Hearts free, because they're both just that fucking pissed, and Xion said to.

...I don't think I want Vanitas there in person, but the Unversed are because all this angst is delicious.

I've decided "Last Midnight" goes here, in Deep Dive and.

The verses:

It's the last midnight
So goodbye, all
Coming at you fast, midnight—
Soon you'll see the sky fall!
Here, you want a heart? *summons keyblade*
Come and get a heart! *fires a beam at Kingdom Hearts*
Hearts will make you exist! *hearts fall from the sky, Xemnas is furious*
Break them and they pour—
Here, you want some more?
Listen to the roar:
Heartless by the score—!
Oh well, you can blame another witch!

At that point Demon Tide joins the battle, maybe the rest of the Organization has to deal with that nonsense, before it starts sucking up Unversed and Nobodies, and everyone basically has to run away.

...I'm picturing Naminé doing what Aqua does in 0.2 and just, wrapping Demon Tide in chains.

And then she throws it at the moon, and they eat the rest of Kingdom Hearts.

Pissing Xemnas off more, and freeing up No Name so he can summon it.

Huh, things are just going completely off the rails, then.

I love it.

What’s Kairi’s position on the whole Roxas thing? Because you made a good point earlier that Riku never gives Roxas a real choice, and Kairi’s going to be complicit in all of this, at the very least.

...That's a good question.

I've been toying with the idea of Roxas's time in the week before Sora.

...Maybe.

Maybe Naminé tells him he'll be with Xion again, the way Xion does herself in the ending, and he actually goes along with it at first.

I'm not entirely sure how far I want to go there though. Or rather.

Lots up in the air.
