He's been a complete piece of shit for a long time now. Blackfire has been getting more nuance. If people can ignore that Harley and Ivy should either be on death row or serving multiple life sentences, Blackfire should get a chance too imo.

Basically you can redeem any villain you want... The problem is making people accept it.

I wonder if Wonder Woman has ever driven the Batmobile.

Jeff Lemire will be doing to DC Black Label books:

  • Joker: Killer Smile with Andrea Sorrentino
  • The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage with Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz

I'm definitely buying the Question book, because THAT IS MY JAM.

Sorry if I am late on the topic here. Regarding Blackfire, yeah she has potential of some kind of redemption. Her whole backstory of being the unfavorite on the planet due to superficial reasons does make her rather sympathetic as a lot of her villainy is attributed from paying back the people who ostracized her and made her into the bad guy. And like the other Cain type villains DC have (Ocean Master, Lightning Lord), there have been stories written about her which portray her in a more nuanced way (as everybody before me stated).

As for Deathstroke, well I kind of see him as sort of a Bojack Horseman type villain. The guy definitely has done a lot of horrible stuff throughout his mercenary career; yet at the same time he showcase some admirable traits and have his moments where we the reader can emphathize with him in the crimes he done. The character have shown to really want to do right in his own way, but because of his own fatal flaws he is unable to truly become a heroic character as he wish to see himself as. Basically he is a complete asshole that we want to be less of an asshole.

And that is why the Teen Titans Go writers cast Will Arnett as Slade in the movie. He is perfect for the role given the odd similarities between Bojack Horseman and Slade Wilson, and if a Deathstroke animated series was made they BETTER get him for that role.

And added bonus: Justin Roiland as Professor TO Morrow. TO Morrow is pretty much the Rick Sanche of the DC Multiverse. Change my mind!

I just read Lois Lane #1. Why didn't anyone tell me that Renee Montoya as the Question is back? I fucking love this book and Greg Rucka for writing it. Also: it is super political and I love it for just how much it doesn't give a fuck, i.e. Lois Lane exposes the White House for profiting off of putting immigrant children in camps, something that they are doing in real life right now at this very moment.

I made a page for the comic in case anyone wants to include stuff.

Next week: I finally get to read Matt Fraction's Jimmy Olsen book, which I've been hearing rave reviews about.

(I find it funny that as soon as Brian Michael Bendis moved to DC, we got books from Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, and Greg Rucka, who are all his friends. Yes, I know Rucka has worked for DC before, but I don't think he's written anything for them since Wonder Woman (Rebirth).)

So are both Vic and Renee operating as the Question?

Apparently, yep. So far, Vic's Question has only appeared in Bendis's Action Comics, while Renee's Question has only appeared in Rucka's Lois Lane.

Do you think DC is gonna make the whole sharing code names something common?

God, I hope so. Marvel does that with both Hawkeye and Spider-Man and it's worked out well for them.

EDIT: It looks like this is true, actually. An article online pointed out that the informant she meets in the parking lot is actually the Vic Sage Question, but the one that goes to Russia is Renee Montoya, meaning that both Questions are actually working together.

Just to clear things up, here's the solicitation of Lois Lane #3:

LOIS LANE #3
written by GREG RUCKA
art and cover by MIKE PERKINS
variant cover by NICOLA SCOTT
Jon Kent surprises his mother with a visit to her hideout in Chicago with big news that ties directly into the events of SUPERMAN #15, also on sale this month. While Lois must deal with her now-17-year-old son making life-changing decisions, the two Questions—Renee Montoya and Vic Sage—try to understand their own confusing continuity.

God, I love Greg Rucka.

I don't see why not, it already happened with Green Lantern (being Space Cops will do that to a title), Superboy (Due to Connor's return), The Flash, Joker of all people, etc.

DC heroes sharing codenames is nothing new. Back in the day you had both the Silver Age heroes and their Golden Age predecessors running around with a number of characters on both Earth 1 and Earth 2 sharing the same title. Obviously this isn't as prominent as of Nu 52, but it's still there to some extent. Nevermind all the GL's.

Yeah I mean DC have had their super heroes share their code names with one another with no problem as far back as the Silver Age with the whole two Earths deal. Better yet the whole Post Crisis New Earth deal where the two heroes actually share the same Earth and operate under the same name pretty much does that shit without any problems. Especially when it comes to the best DC run ever, Starman which basically featured multiple guys operating under the identity of Starman.

Basically its the other way around here with Marvel taking an element from DC.

I wonder what kind of theorizing there is on the identity and life of superheroes and supervillains with a secret identity in-universe.

I'd imagine that the existence of Green Lanterns are public knowledge, and that there is likely some attempts on earth to reveal their identities as they're closer to cops then other superheroes even the World's Greatest Detective himself. Whether or not said attempt are successful depend son how much those people care or if there are agreement sin the D Cverse for P Ds to protect their own cops' identities.

I'd also imagine that some people speculate that Batman's real identity is an ex-Arkham inmate.

You know, that reminds me.

As redundant as it seems, I'd like to see an actual Cop become a Lantern.

We've seen dudes from a lot of occupations and positions, with John and Hal being the closest due to being military (and that's because John's Justice League background got retconned into his comics background), but I would wonder how a normal beat cop would react to the...wider scope of the lanterns, while very aware that they are still....a beat cop.
