I finally got back to this thread, and I realized that I have not yet given you conclusive information on your query. As far as I can find, I've only gotten New Age stuff. That Wikipedia article is the one article that I have found to connect transpersonal chakras to Hinduism or Buddhism in any manner. Even that seems tenuous. It seems to be that typical New Age phenomenon of taking specific ideas and broadening them to fit with New Age teachings.

Mentioning tantra to anyone unfamiliar seems to conjure up stereotypes of sex "meditations" and all that stuff, but it seems to have more to it than that. I'm Googling this, but I'd like if someone more familiar with the subject(tantra) gave some info. Thanks!
