Well, it may be bad but it doesn't change what the truth is.

What is the truth? From what I could see 4chan doesn't know who is doing this.
Their threads actually skewed in a surprising number of directions (not hivemind on this issue apparently), some posters expressing support for Emma and what she's saying, other posters expressing rejection of what the cause stands for.
Still others suggested creating Photoshopped nudes so as to meet expectations.

I'll tell you why. Some asshole PR firm spits in the face of everything Ms. Watson tried to get across in her speech, and for what? Can you think of a reason why they'd attempt to blackmail her, demean her character, and blame it on 4chan, because I sure can't. It wasn't promoting anything; if there was any motivation it was to get people scared.

What kills me about this is that they seem to think that this will work. Even in the best-case scenario, all that you'll accomplish is forcing 4chan to migrate to another site, which is something they're already currently doing. Do they really believe that the assholes on /b/ and /pol/ will simply stop being assholes when /b/ and /pol/ are gone? Come on, get real.
The only thing this stunt has accomplished is threatening a high-profile celebrity. So if that was their real goal, then congratulations, assholes. You succeeded.

Supposedly, the accusation now is that this was a False Flag Operation. A campaign designed to smear 4chan by 4channers to prove that people are "out to get them".
At this point, I'll wait to see evidence for who did what.
