Yeah there's nothing in here that will make you fanboy/girl over a series or it, except for maybe the art and animation style, which, if you're familiar with GAINAX, is totally done before. But I still LOVE this OVA. It's a great piece to show as a special for kids.

Something I noticed throughout the special is that the animation looks distinctly "western". Anyone else feel that way?

I do. That just comes with the way the supervising animator works.

Yeah, but that's Gainax/Trigger's MO in general; they have the same sort of fluidity that Disney or Warner Bros has.

I think I see Diana actually at the opening magic act. Also anyone else think Lotte is a Genderbent Brief?

But yeah, I totes would want this to be a new series. As much as I loved PSG, would love a new show from them and the characters from this were adorable.

Little Witch Academia? Heard there was a big fight over at the Chinese ACG board over this on April Fools.

Found the plot enjoyable, but a little bit below Death Billiard. It is better than RYO and Arve Rezzle, since those have very confusing plots.

Decided to watch this one. I would agree that the best characters are Sucy and Diana. Diana is a rather good tsundere, and Sucy is a robe of hilarity. I mean, the way she handled the minotaur made me laugh quite a bit, and her "successful" shield spell wasn't far off either. The teacher wasn't bad either.

Diana is more Ravenclaw than Slytherin.

Maybe. Though it wouldn't quite make sense for Diana's posse to be from different houses than her, even though it's possible.

While watching I kept mistaking characters for names from Harry Potter and kept stopping myself! :D

Okay. It's not like they have a course for broom-flying, or a sorcerer's stone! :P

I didn't mean to imply that Academy had a house system like Hogwarts (though I lawl that it's in Britain too); just that Diana isn't that bad, just stuck up.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the new series Trigger is doing.

Well its part of the public funded program to train new animators. This one just so happened to have the animators work under Trigger.

I so wish this were a series just so we finally get new characters who would fit perfectly in Slytherin!

Diana is more Ravenclaw, but I like the idea of her being in Slytherin as it would make her a rare non-douchebag Slytherin.

And the main trio should be Hufflepuff.

Akko's so Griffyndor though. Lotte is like a more derpy Hermione, and Suzy is equivalent to a goth, genderbent Ron Weasely.

@Thorn: that doens't mean Anime Mirai own the IP rights to whatever is created.

Just watched it. Goddamn the animation is gorgeous, and the story itself ain't too shabby either, would be great to expand on.

In other news, gg has also subbed Death Billiard, if you're interested.

Actually I think Akko is the most Hufflepuff of the three. She only wants to learn magic because of her idol, isn't especially motivated, and is mostly just lucky. Hufflepuff for the win, by the way.

Because Harry Potter and Ron were really motivated students.

She has passion and drive and cares for her friends; Hufflepuff is... idk, it's like the Seth Rogen House.
