Shokugeki No Soma

Jouichirou coming from a good cooking related family is one thing. His mom is another. I would not like that at all since I feel like the subtle point of her character was a way for him to unwind and distance himself f ok all that.

Unless she is also Erina's mom because it would be hilarious if no one told them until after they banged.

I know this is supposed to be an important Wham Chapter, but the only thing I could focus on properly was the Fit Erina.

Wait, they just straight up captured them with ropes? Doesn't that count as an abduction?

It would be funny if the whole thing was settled with one phone call from Souma to his father.

I think the reason Erina looks so off is because her limbs look so freaking thin lol. Good god girl, put some meat on your bones. Sitting there looking like a twig.

And good god, we're actually committing to the mafia story...

Of course we are. There was zero indication that this was a comedy breather like people were hoping.

Its still stupid as all fucking hell, especially given the lack of closure from the last arc.

I kind of wish that guy kept calling her "Mama Megumi".

And, yeah, I feel like them tying up and possibly torturing these guys like this would be illegal.

No way, they lost at cooking. They knew the stakes. No self respecting policeman would dare arrest our heroes.

Considering that the underground chefs are criminals with ties to the mafia, I doubt they'd go to the police. And as everyone knows, it's not illegal unless you get caught.

And they're dealing with the Mafia, so fuck the rules.

So when do we start cooking some coke & crystal meth?

There's lots of bakeries that specialize in stuff with pot popping up. I even saw a marijuana cookbook recently.

Man it be hilarious if these guys ever cooked a pot brownie or cookie.

So what your saying is drugs are Alice’s forte since her cooking is basically using a lot of chemistry & such shit.

Actually wait, if the characters started tripping balls after eating drugged food would we even be able to tell?

Let’s be real here, with the amount of freedom the students have combined with the highly stressful enviroment I’m sure most of the student body is on something.

Personally I like going forward with the mafia plotline, because it indicates that the series isn't taking itself too seriously. That was essentially the problem with the previous arc: a fun story about food battles was suddenly being weighed down by child abuse and a "serious" villain (whose goals were nonetheless absurd).

An arc about fighting illegal dark chefs (who have all been presented as extremely silly) is an amusing way to wash out that bad taste and get back to the main strengths of the series.

Not gonna lie, I'd read it.

The read I'm getting is over the top in the same way Subaru was when he was an antagonist. I don't consider that to be a good thing.

Clarste: If it makes it clear that the entire thing is ridiculous nonsense maybe it's forgivable. But I feel like it might take it half seriously.

Great, so is this arc going to lead to Souma's Final Battle against his dad kind of thing? Since that WAS his life goal from the start.

I mean, at this point Souma has gotten almost everything he said he wanted. He's top of the school as First Seat. He found his Specialty. The only Achievement he needs to unlock is "Defeat Dad".

I bet Jouichirou is going to be conveniently unreachable just to drag out the plot.

Unless this is seriously supposed to be drawing the whole series into a close, in which case I wouldn't put past him to admit it outright. "Yep, I sent the Noirs. Defeat them if you want to defeat me."

Honestly, with some of the hallucinations characters tend to have after eating food, I think we've been seeing it the entire damned time.

Basically, its ridiculous in the same way the Azami arc was "serious" except the characters were taking it 100% seriously.

Is that good or bad?
