I'm really loving this game! Been doing some more quests, recently finished the one concerning opening the door of the 1st level for a compund. The ways to handle some mission are pretty impressive (auto-turreting some enemies is great!).
I really like how having different skills means different ways of going through a variety of quests, it avoids the problem of "Man this build sucks in this situation" or something. Thinking about putting something into crafting skills.
Gotta love the subtle lighting effects in the portraits though.

If you want to desperately adhere to a specific playstyle, the game can get a bit tricky; unfair even. But flexibilitah pays off big time. Personally, I love infiltration through ventilation shafts in particular. Here's where the Oddity system truly shines.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Yeah I can see that, the SGS compund quest proved to me that going fleixble is the best route, so I will probably do more of that in the future, already put some points towards hacking and lockpicking when I leveled up there. Unfortunately I forgot to click "Oddity" for the XP system so I missed out on it. Still enjoying it though.
Funnily enough stealth has become more of an ambush tactic than sneaking. During said quest, I tossed a grenade while in stealth at a couple of raiders, and finished off the third one in a few turns. It's great, good thing my hacking skills made that auto-turret kill the others to save ammo.
I am seeing the gane starting to open up like you said, didn't reach that quest you mentioned yet but all is good now, new armor and all.

Oh, and here's a little tip:
Don't hoard, unless you are searching for specific crafting ingredients. Merchants only buy limited amounts of select wares. Ammunition makes for good commodity money, similar to Metro 2033, but vendor trash does not exist in this game.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Getting shit done in the junkyard. I was gonna do some cargo quest in the silent Isle but these dopplegangers along with other enemies made me full NOPE and did the Scrapper one instead. Stabbed Eldwood when he was walking and nobody saw us, he went down fast with a knife.
And hot damn putting points into lockpicking and hacking helped a lot, I'm collecting oddities like crazy.

The doppelgängers only appear when you're in the dark, by the by; standing near a light source makes you impervious to the "strange feeling" debuff .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I heard that the game gets Lovecraftian during endgame, is this true?
Quickly now; on a scale of 1 - 10 how's the game? I got spare change to burn.
Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane.I give it an 8 so far (didn't finish it yet), however if you didn't like the olde tactical isometric games you may as well save it to something else.

That wasn't quick enough. I spent the money on CS:GO Cases. Now to get some keys, eventually.
Seriously though, thanks. I'll probably check the game out in detail when I'm out of here. Been meaning to try something new. Also people are still confusing the thing for Undertale, right? Must be embarrassing to make that mistake in front of a bunch of people who know exactly what it is.

Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane.I added "Has nothing to do with Undertale" on the page for a reason.

Well I meant on other sites I've visited.
Also the game looks fun. Almost certain I'll be picking it up as soon as I can.
Try imagining how far the universe extends! Keep thinking about it until you go insane. It does, albeit I'd say it goes more towards Ellison than Lovecraft. The endgame dungeon is a large, isolated place that delivers a bit of an exposition dump and puts a lot of what you learned during your playthrough into perspective. Sadly those final hours are also a bit of a weak point of the game that prevent it from being even better. As a Souls fan I loved that part, but many players come away frustrated and/or disappointed, and with good reason.
Underrail is currently the game I have put the most hours into in my Steam library. Around 250 hours within a single month (not counting the additional few hours I spent with the game during early access), which is a lot for someone who usually has a hard time focusing on a game for long. Needless to say, it's been a therapeutic experience for me, so I guess it comes as little surprise that I'm so smitten with this game .

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I'm kinda stuck at a quest, I couldn't find the drill parts. Did other stuff but I still wanna get that one done with.

It's only a single part; you find it in a barrel in front of Wyatt's cabin, which is in the westernmost part of Depot A.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I recently picked this up, and I've been addicted. Running a gunslinger/thought-control with a hefty amount of crafting; combat is certainly challenging now, but hopefully after I hand-craft some nice gear and a nice pistol, things should ramp up. Currently in Depot A trying to get the parts, but I've been making supply runs to stock up on gear, and I've been fairly successful.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenAn expansion called Underrail: Expedition is coming out this year. It will focus on the Black Sea, the large body of water that permeates the game world and only plays a tangential role in the main game. New storylines featuring pirates and probably more Lovecraftian shenanigans are to be exected, furthermore a raised skill cap, added skills, new weapons (shotguns are finally making their appearance, as do spears and machetes), a new psi discipline (time manipulation, which should be self-explanatory) and even vehicles (you'll get to ride fucking armoured jet skis!). It may not be the followup to the main quest's absolutely brutal cliffhanger people were hoping for, but it sounds like a great extension to the game's mechanics, which in turns benefits replayability, and makes it easier for the developers to focus on narrative content for their next expansion.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Underrail definitely needs a Nightmare Fuel section, but I don't see any way to add one.
Thinking of giving this game a gander. Looks like my cup of tea, not too expensive, and I've got a holiday coming up.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThat reminds me, I should get around to playing the game again. I got distracted by Grim Dawn and Bloodstained.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYou unlock the expedition mid-game apparently, no clue if it has issues with older saves though.
Eh, I might as well start with a new character entirely. I'm thinking a melee build so I don't have to scrounge for ammo so much in the early game.
Disgusted, but not surprised
It opens up rather quickly. The initial few quests are taking place in a confined space, but after a specific quest that is essentially meant to be a trial by fire for your character build, you have access to the entire game world (save for the endgame dungeon, which is massive in itself and takes up almost a third of the game).
