Remi used Octazooka which destroyed the sludge bomb but was damaged a bit by the resulting explosion.

Lila: Use charge beam again! But be on the lookout for its attacks!

Remi: <sure thing!>

Remi fired another charge beam at the Toxapex.

• Name: Zacharias Salazar
• Age: 24
• Gender: Male
• Ethnicity: Caucasian (Spanish)
• Appearance: Ash blond hair, dark brown eyes and fair skin. Lost his left leg a few inches below the knee and wears a prothesis. Has a vertical scar crossing his left eyebrow, but it's so small that its hard to spot. Wears slim black sweatpants, black and white sneakers and a dark blue hoodie over a plain white t-shirt. Average build, 182cm, 80kg.
• Ties to an Organization: Not exactly ties, but I was thinking of making the avalanche that cost him his leg to be the result of a mass Snover capture attempted by Hunter J and her underlings that went wrong. Zacharias doesn't know that what caused it, though. (If all that is off-limits lore wise, then no ties at all and the avalanche was a natural disaster.)
• Region of Origin: Has unknown foreign ancestry, but was born and raised on Shinnoh, near Celestic Town. Now he lives in Veilstone City.
• Backstory: Zacharias was born on January 14th, 1994, in Caelestis Town. Her mother died while giving birth and with his father having vanished months ago his grandfather Carlos, a retired Ranger, took care of him. They lived a quiet life in a shack on Mt. Coronet, near Celestic. Zacharias was an active kid, and enjoyed exploring the forest and caves nearby his home. He grew up to love everything about the massive mountain: its landscapes, its secrets, but specially its Pokemon. However, this carefree lifestyle ended shortly after his 16th birthday, when a group of enraged Abomasnow unleashed an Avalanche that destroyed his house, killed his grandfather and cost him his left leg. Without any family left, Zacharias was brought to a foster home in Veilstone where he spent two more years. On his 18th birthday, he left, started working part time jobs to earn what he needed to pay for food and a cramped rented room on the outskirts of the city. He currently lives in a small flat in Veilstone and works in a Liquor Store (he likes the drinks enough and it pays well). Zacharias' sweet and gentle demeanor soured a lot with Carlos' death, and he became bitter and aggressive in his teens. He has mostly grown out of it, and is much more cheerful and snarky, if a bit reserved towards those he doesn't know very well. He gets nervous easily but can hold a pretty confident facade. Has a love of puns, but is pretty bad at making them. He enjoys battling, and now that he has some money saved up, he is planning on traveling the region and collect all the gym badges, but he isnt particularly interested in being "The best that ever was"

• Species: Sneasel [lvl 32]
• Nickname: Nieve
• Gender: Female
• Ability: Inner Focus
• Personality/Bio: Adamant Nature. Nieve is Zacharias' starter and his strongest Pokemon. She got separated from her pack as a kit, and he found her half-buried in the snow, with a broken paw and starving. With the help of his grandfather, Zacharias nursed her back to health, and once she was cured she decided to stay. Nieve is proud and competitive and loves battling. She has a strangely honorable take on combat for her species. She always announces herself before a battle, to make sure that her opponent know they are fighting. Once her rival admits defeat or faints, she lets them go. However, once engaged, she is merciless and is not afraid to use the common tricks of a dark type. Loves Spicy Poffins.

• Species: Bronzor [lvl 25]
• Nickname: Acero
• Gender: Agender
• Ability: Levitate
• Personality/Bio: Quirky Nature. Acero is... weird. Like, really weird. They usually say nothing and, when they do, it is often gibberish or just plain non-sensical. When push comes to shove, though, they can display an incredible amount of wisdom and strength. Zacharias is not sure if these rare moments of clarity are sheer dumb luck or if Acero is secretly a genius and just loves messing with him and the rest of the team. Whichever it is, there's something special about this Bronzor. For some reason they seem to be in tune with anomalous events that cause the world to not behave as it should, and when these happen, they become even more erratic. It happened once in 2009 just before the disbandment of Team Galaxy and twice in 2016, once in April and once in November. The worst, though, was in 2012, where they suddenly fell in a coma in April and woke up in June

• Species: Murkrow [lvl 27]
• Nickname: Azar
• Gender: Male
• Ability: Super Luck
• Personality/Bio: Sassy Nature. Zacharias met Azar shortly after moving out of foster care. The Murkrow kept roaming his trash can for leftovers, and they ended up taking a liking to each other. Azar is a troublemaker but thinks of himself as a showman (showbird?). This often affects his performance in combat, for better or for worst, as he tries to make his fights as spectacular as possible. Loves Bitter Poffins and Pokemon Contests.

• Species: Ralts [lvl 17]
• Nickname: Baile
• Gender: Male
• Ability: Synchronize
• Personality/Bio: Careful Nature. Baile found Zacharias while he was on his way back to Veilstone from Hearthome city, after assisting a Contest (as spectator) last year, and followed him home. The poor thing seemed so scared of everything that Zacharias decided to take care of him. Baile is quiet, fearful and shy, and is slightly afraid of his teammates. He wants to grow strong so he doesn't have to be afraid anymore and forces himself to battle, but sometimes the fear is too much for him and he collapses. He loves dancing, and when he thinks no one is looking, he practices his waltz skills.

I wasn't sure if levels are fine. I would like to use them in order to keep record of what moves can my 'mons use. If they are considered too meta i'll edit them out.

And well, yeah I stumbled upon this thread this morning and got so hyped that I kinda stopped everything and spent the whole day reading the wiki and preparing my character

Oh, just a note, this RP runs more or less on real-time; if your character was born in 1997, he'd be 21, not 24. A minor detail that can be changed easily, but I figured I'd get that cleared up :P

I try not to nitpick grammar too much, but capitalizing "I" is one of the grammar rules that does make a large difference to readability.

Suprised by the two attacks, I try to step backwards as I trow the ball and Nieve comes out. I managed to get out from the path of the Bubble Beam, but the Vine Whip is coming my way and Nieve steps in between, taking the the attack with a painful yelp and growl, and shaking her pained forearms.

Zacharias: Ok, buddy, time to punch some fairies. Metal Claw these clowns' asses!

Nieve: <GRAAH! Bring it on, you damn psycho furballs!>

Nieve jumps and tries to viciously claw the closest clefairy.

Clefairy 2: -is Metal Clawed, super-effectively- <No! Cruel iron!> -is knocked out-

Clefairy 1: <No! This is impecable!>

-he retaliates with a Metronomed Flame Wheel-

Clefairy 3: <Ugh, these aren't even moon rocks after all. Guess we can't turn back now though.>

-they attempt to Wake-Up Slap Nieve-

Clefairy 4: -shrieks with a Disarming Voice-

Clefairy 5: -just... Defense Curls-

Nieve manages to dodge most of the flame wheel, but some flames lick her back and she is unable to avoid the Wake Up Slap, which hits her squarely in the chest. The Disarming Voice is the final nail on the coffin, making nieve stagger, half deaf.

Zacharias: Goddamit! Nieve, hang on there! Screech!

Nieve channels all of her pain in a bloodchilling Screech, stands defiantly... And faceplants, unconcious.

Zacharias: Nonononono. No way. Get back here!

I retrieve Nieve and grab Acero's and Azar's pokeballs with sweaty palms.

Clefairy 1: <Gaah! That noise is volumptuous!>

Clefairy 3: <That's not the word...>

Clefairy 4: -uses Metronome, Mud Slapping the next Pokémon sent out-

(Does Levitate make the pokemon completely immune to ground attacks here?)

Zacharias: Acero, quick! Use Confuse Ray!

The bronzor hovers high, and some of the mud brushes off him, seemingly harmless.

Acero: <Hmph. The Sky is The Limit, But the Blue Defender Knows not Defeat, and Therefore has no Limits. Popcorn.>

Acero flashes, and an eerie beam of light traces the air.

(It honestly varies, some people write more strictly to game mechanics, others play battles more cinematically; as long as all players in the scene agree either way's fine.)

Clefairy 4: -stomps up and down angerly- <How could I miss?!>

<...ooh, pretty light...>

-the Clefairy stare at the light, enraptured-

Clefairy 5: <Is *that* a moon rock?>

Clefairy 4: <No I think it's just Venus...>

Clefairy 1: <We can't stand here garnishing! Attack!>

Clefairy 1 used Metronome!

Clefairy 1 used Selfdestruct!

-an explosion tears across the battlefield towards Acero, sending the Clefairy flying in its wake-

(Sorry I made you wait, something came up for a while.)

As I realise what the Clefary is doing I know that Acero won't be able to get out of there. I grit my teeth and shout:

Zacharias: ACERO! IRON. DEFENSE.

The shockwave engulfs him and I'm knocked back by the air pressure. When it wears off, I see that Acero is still in the air, but looks really hurt and really confused. Lucky for they their body is made of metal but they won't be able to take much more.

Zacharias: Try to Gyro Ball one of them!

Acero: <My Spin Is The Spin That Will Pierce The Fairies!>

Acero starts to slowly build up spinning speed...

(no worries, it's expected that people have IRL things like meals and projects and families and sleep to take care of)

-handily for Acero, only one Clefairy remains conscious-

Clefairy 5: -seeing the approaching Gyro Ball-

<AAAAAAHHHH! DEVIOUS DERVISH OF DEATH!>

-...and she seems to lose her will to fight, fleeing into the brush-

Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Native Hawaiian (Alolan)

Brief description of their appearance: Short and stocky, with a perpetual pout. Wears dark but weather-appropriate clothes (think Punk Girls). Light brown skin. A lot of long, fluffy hair, dyed lavender. Pictured: her doing the Fairy-type Z-Move (she doesn't actually have a Z-ring).

Any ties to an organization: Ex-Team Skull member.

Region of origin: Outside of Hau'oli City.

Backstory: Orphaned at a young age, she harbors a great deal of bitterness towards society, and turned to Team Skull for a sense of belonging. There, she actually mellowed out somewhat, and gained a strong sense of justice and a love for Pokemon, though she acquired very few skills on how to actually battle effectively, instead prefering the "strategy" of "hit the other Pokemon with a lot of attacks and see if it works" (Status moves? What are those?). She especially loves and wants to protect children, mostly due to her upbringing. After Team Skull disbanded, she set out on her own to become a "real trainer" and travel the world, starting from the beginning with Pokemon she caught legitimately instead of stole from unsuspecting businessmen (hopefully somewhere else due to her technically being a wanted criminal). She wanted to be the Fairy-type Trial Captain, but is too old. She mostly likes Pokemon battles for sport and fun, and will heal opposing Trainer's Pokemon after battles and tends to run from wild encounters rather than fight, unless they're really annoying and/or seriously hurt her Pokemon without being provoked (which is an unforgivable slight in her eyes). This changes slightly when she gets her hands on stronger Pokemon, and she starts to relish the battle a bit more.

Nickname: Pi-yo

Gender: Female

Ability: Torrent

Personality/Bio: Gentle Nature. A bit spoiled, but very affectionate and sweet. Tends to disobey when she wants attention.

Species: Bewear

Nickname: Candy

Personality/Bio: Docile Nature. Unusually restrained for a Bewear, and likes giving hugs, whether they're wanted or not, mostly because she's proud of her ability to no longer crush people's spines when hugging them. Protective of her trainer, and her strength is the reason Nana has lost some restraint when battling.

Nickname: Pancake

Personality/Bio: Naive Nature. Given to her as a gift from a child who lives in her old city for saving him from a wild Murkrow. A bit of a crybaby, and likes eating.

Personality/Bio: Quirky Nature. A newcomer to Nana's team, and fairly weak but very lovable. Dislikes Pokeballs and enjoys hanging out around Nana's neck and refusing to battle.

Ooh, looks good! Since she's ex-Team Skull (and specifically ex-Skull right when Guzma left), she'd probably recognize one of my characters, Paula, who was a sort of upstart during Guzma's leadership and went and picked up the pieces after he called it quits. Might make things interesting!

Your signup looks good! Being rusty on the anime is fine; the vast majority of this RP's continuity is based around the main and side games, and refrences to any other Pokemon continuity tend to be relatively minor (a location here, a side character there, you get the deal). Basically you won't miss much just sticking to the games and for what you actually need Bulbapedia is your friend.

And yeah she'd probably be familiar with a certain Paula Jaide. :P
