Once again I have to wonder if Valve are obligated to follow the original mod if its balance situation takes a turn for the worse.
Given that Ice Frog's on the team, probably. But if I'm not mistaken, there's tons of statistics from pro and regular matches taken into account when reworking stuff, or so I've heard.
Though speaking of balance, I'm looking at the unreleased heroes, and outside of Abaddon and Tresdin, some seem unbalanced as hell. Now I understand why everyone is clamoring for Techies, but stuff like Terrorblade, Pitlord/Abyssal Lord, and Winter Wyvern seem pretty crazy. Mostly because they have what is essentially a second ultimate on huge cooldowns.
Then again half of their abilities seem like they'd be pretty terrible in pub matches considering coordination at that level.
Read up on Phoenix. There's a reason he's banned in both public matches and tournaments.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDES- Repeatedly sacrifice large chunks of HP for damage
Welp. Supernova sounds like a blast though. I get the feeling it'd devolve to a giant game of keep away. Probably best during laning as a stun followup.

The thing is, by combining all your abilities, your enemies will be unable to get away from your ult or destroy the egg before you emerge.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESSo I just had the funniest game yet.
So the Radiant team had Luna (mid), Jakiro (bot, he's also one of my steam friends), Lifestealer (bot, he's me), Drow Ranger and Broodmother (both top).
The Dire team had Lina, Spirit Breaker (both top), Elder Titan (mid), Medusa and Witch Doctor (both bot).
Drow Ranger and Broodmother were feedlords supreme, constantly giving themselves to Lina (And Broodmother deserves a special mention for rushing at the tower as soon as the game began). I was convinced they started intentionally feeding the enemy team.
They ragequitted, abandoning us after their 5th/6th death. Obviously that would mean that we would lose. What happens instead? We wreck the enemy team and win. Jakiro laid down some sick ice paths and I killed the entire enemy team (I managed to get a rampage at one point).
I can't even begin to imagine what went on in the enemy chat.

Well there's the enemy team's problem. Medusa just takes so much time to come online, and Lina and SB probably weren't going to keep up with proper carries. Although I do recall a Medusa with 700 GPM in a 30 minute game... except she somehow went 0-0-0. I'm guessing there's some trick to farming ancients I don't know about.
Still, winning with players down always feel good. Nice achievement from you there. Though I kinda wish someone microed the other two characters for the rest of the match.
Anyone ever go on dev.dota2.com? It's pretty much the epitome of the DOTA 2 community. So many rational and open-minded people who realy care about helping Valve turn the DOTA 2 experience into a welcoming and friendly place...
... No, I can't do it, I couldn't keep a straight face while typing that.
But seriously, if you ever want a laugh, just go check out the "misc" section of the forum and prepare for hilarity.
There's a "Compendium" on sale right now for TI 3. Does anyone happen to know what exactly it is and what it entails?
As one of the guys I play with was quick to point out, it has a smeevil.
What exactly a sneevil is I still don't know.

I believe that is a Pokeyman.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESYou'd thing there'd be more discussion in here, especially since the Western Qualifiers happened and all.
Best parts of West Qualifiers was all tree man.
EG choked so hard. What a shame. But yeah, people just don't talk that much about Dota 2 here. Dunno why, I find it to be a more rewarding experience than League.
EDIT: Also god damn, them compendium bonuses. So good. Get one if you haven't already, guys.

EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESI've been trying out some new heroes this weekend, mostly Storm Spirit. He's fun to play as (if only for his hilarious voice lines), although he can be a little difficult to use before you pick up a Linken's to help you.
On a side note, it took me, like four games to figure out the ult + vortex + Remnant combo that you use in a gank. Dumb me.
Ganking heroes are always fun. I've taken a shine to Chaos Knight recently. As long as you've got someone that can keep your mana up, like CM or KOTL, you can just slap the crap out of people. And god help your enemy team if one of your friends picks Wisp.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESTry telling that to the Eastern teams, because I'm catching up on the qualifiers right now and dear god did they mess that up. They made CK go on the hard lane and Wisp just sorta...stood between middle and top doing nothing. Both ended up terribly under leveled and lost horribly. Luckily the Wisp+Juggernaut today was pretty effective.
I was going to mention the qualifiers but I figured no one really cares about competitive here. Kinda sad I was wrong given how many great moments there were, especially the terrible EG throws and that one super long match with the 2 rapiers, I think it was Mouz vs Rox.
Everyone's still reeling from that game Orange threw to R Stars . Seriously, Mushi and Ohayo must have been asleep.
Joking aside, I think nobody's commenting because they're watching or playing (or doing something else).
Speaking of the Eastern scene, China had to censor some skulls and undead due to culture issues, which results in these reworked character models. While some look really dumb (AA,SF), others are pretty cool. I think someone said something along the lines of "In China, all the undead are now Mortal Kombat characters", which sums it up pretty well. Although the design for SF is actually kinda clever now that I think about it.
Also, the script/lines for Abbadon are up. Funny how half his ally/rival lines are about unreleased heroes.
Maybe the censorship is what made the likes of IG stronger? Who knows? The BTS guys like to act like China's dota scene is a step up from the West but I think it's just their teams working harder and going for less flashy plays.
Look up "Welcome to Dota 2, You suck". Despite what its name might imply, it's a very well written beginner guide that should pretty much get you set.
Also, Valve is trying to make a tutorial, but it's very incomplete and needs work. But hey, at least it tells you the very basic stuff.
Lvl 1 Rosh in a pro game, but it's worth it to watch the whole thing for Alliance's good play. Skip up to 11:50s to see it.

Seems like Tresdin would make a nice counter to PL given how popular he is lately. She seems to behave a bit like Clockwerk as far as base stats go, given how she's fast, tanky and a bit slow at hitting.
