I wanted Speedy and Slade to show up one last time.

Speedy at least had 1 episode. Slade was just....forgotten sad

Soured an extremely good episode a bit for me.

Yao Fei said only people who'd been with Oliver since his beginning on the island had come back. Slade and Oliver didn't meet till halfway through Season 1.

[up] Also, I believe only people who died on the island came back, although why Shado wasn't there, I don't know.

Actually, that would have been cool: Shado comes back and fights Wintergreen.

In any case, this episode was magnificent. And Roy lost an arm! And Lyla became the Harbinger! God, the scene where she picks up the weapon and then realizes she has to leave was chilling.

Caught up. Liking this season, though I'm split on the kids coming back. On the one hand, I love the Kid from the Future trope; seeing them interact with their parents is always great. And future Star City was shit, so I shouldn't be too upset at it getting messed with. I am a little annoyed at the Lying Creator, though, since they were very firm that the Star City of the flashforwards was definitely happening, no tricks.

Also, is it just me, or were Oliver and Mia both worfed this season? Last season, Mia won every single fight she was in, hands down, no trouble whatsoever. Here JJ beats her easily, and she even has trouble with the other Deathstrokes. Oliver also had a bit of an embarrassing showing in the first episode.

I chalk this up to 1) JJ have much more training (he is the son of John Diggle, after all) and 2) Mia being too cocky (after all, you did point out that she won all of her fights, so she was bound to lose to someone). I always like to compare JJ to the Dark Archer in Arrow's first season, rather than Deathstroke.

Don't think there's a strict hierarchy here, otherwise Mia being train by Nyssa should amount to something. Plus she kinda starts the seasons being bodied by a mood/elite mook(?).

Huh. So it does look like they were able to change the future for the better. I hope that they keep Connor and Zoe, too.

Interesting that the description refers to her as Mia Queen instead of Mia Smoak.

Now that he is gone, I realize how much Oliver Queen has accompanied me in my geek life during the last 5 years (I started Arrow in 2015).

And honestly, no matter how bad the series itself was at times, it has always been a pleasure to see Oliver grow. No fictional chracter's journey has touched me like his, come to think of it. In no small part to Stephen Amell, who has since become one of my favorite actors.

So RIP, Oliver Jonas Queen.

And Stephen Amell was pretty great as Oliver. When I started watching the show, he just seemed kind of meh, but as it went on, his acting improved by leaps and bounds. Even during the Crisis, when he's the Spectre, you can see him acting differently from when he was alive.

Also, fun fact, next episode (aka "Green Arrow and the Canaries" Backdoor Pilot) will be the first and ONLY episode where Stephen Amell won't appear.

I always took that as being a deliberate choice. He acted wooden because he just came off the island and some rather horrific events, so he was still recovering.

Random question:

Does everyone finally know Oliver was also the Hood and the Arrow?

When Oliver was on trial for being the Green Arrow, he claimed to have been working with the Green Arrow in his capacity as mayor, and through that working relationship learned that the Green Arrow was also the Arrow and the Hood. So all that should still be on the record.

Though, with this Post-Crisis retcon, they might decide to just say he was always called the Green Arrow right from the beginning.

First look at the series finale. Looks like things are different in the Post-Crisis world. Oliver's mother is still alive for one.

Also, I'm really confused because Mia still seems to be in the present. Does this just take place before she goes back to the future or does she come back from the future to attend her father's funeral?

So...

Laurel apparently got insta-transported to the future after Ollie's funeral in 2020, and the Black Canary doesn't exist. Mia grew up normal, but Laurel used a device based on J'onn's Mind whammy to restore her pre-crisis memories. She was also going to marry J.J....which becomes a bit awkward once she remembers the old timeline.

Plot's still unfolding right now, so more to come.

Edit: That pose in front of the burning building was unnecessary and they damn well know it.

So the new show starring the future kids is looking a lot like a Birds of Prey series.

Any guesses on who that person who restored J.J.'s memories was? Or why they'd even do that?

I'm very curious as to what he'll do. Just because he remembers the old timeline doesn't mean he has to go back to how he was before.

[up][up] That'd definitely be cool, though they'd need to be careful to cast an actor who can really bring the martial arts chops.
