Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Got the cover.
Edison is apparently another gag series. Expect it to die quickly.

Edison was a douchebag. Long live Tesla!
That manga is about Thomas Edison or it's just called Edison?
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.Aside from it being a gag series, I am not at all aware of the content.
From the little Japanese I can read on the cover, Edison is a genius (kinda) girl, so I'm guessing she builds wacky gadgets much to the terror of her guy friend.

World Trigger will run simultaneously in the English Shonen Jump. Since I didn't mention it last week, Dragon Ball has been added to the English magazine in full colour, starting from the part that was the beginning of Dragon Ball Z.
Bleach and Gintama are absent this week without prior notice.
As of chapter 5, Shokugeki no Sōma has been receiving help with its recipes from the allegedly famous cook/gavure idol/writer/talk show host Yuki Morisaki.
Assassination Classroom is the top recommended manga by Japanese book stores in 2012. Haikyū!! came 4th and One-Punch Man came 9th.
Issue 12:
Lead Colour: Haikyū!!
Center Colour: Gintama, World Trigger, Kokkuri Yaai (One-Shot)
Absent: One Piece
Haikyū is celebrating its first anniversary, revealing the results of its first character popularity poll, and revealing a special project in issue 12.
A one-shot will also run in issue 13.

Since there's voting in the English magazine as well, should I start including it in my posts?
edited 5th Feb '13 8:44:39 AM by burnpsy
Sure, go for it, man.
Well, I suppose this is more for archival purposes than anything, since we have no idea what effect(s) the voting even has.

Found the cover.
Gintama was apparently absent because the mangaka's still recovering from norovirus or something.
This issue's one-shot apparently ran as two shorter one-shots - an old version and a new version.

Any word on what the plot is? I know this thread is for rankings, but think you could provide any details you can find on new series that are introduced in the future?
All we really know about World Trigger is, hilariously, courtesy of Viz. Their announcement said:

Ouch, Bleach is below the top ten... I thought it was doing better, final arc and all that.
Bleach's ranking varies wildly from week to week.
Understand, though, that it's never been as big as Naruto or One Piece over in Japan, but it's still leaps and bounds ahead of the bottom-feeders that are constantly just barely holding onto existence.
edited 12th Feb '13 9:52:35 PM by Gilphon
It's also worth noting that Bleach's rank is no surprise given its overall performance in terms of rankings last year. Being at the top of the bottom 5 is to be expected, since only three series that did worse in 2012 are still running.

, Ohh... that's good to know, The ranking makes more sense now.
Its anime had to be canceled too, which explains that.

Koisome Momiji's fourth and final volume ranked 13th in last week's sales list with over 53K sold. I mention this because it's volumes all performed much better than practically every other recent series in Jump that got axed quickly (and sold more than Kochikame 184, but Kochikame's immunity is due to Grandfather Clause, not sales).

Corrected a few series names based on this interview from a month ago with the Japanese editor-in-chief, where one question has him explain why several popular series are currently being deliberately kept out of the English version of the magazine, and he names them by English title.
Assassination Classroom has passed 2.7 million in circulation with only two volumes released.
High Kyū!! is getting a novel adaptation.

This is the first time the English magazine hasn't had something conveniently have an unused cover-style colour page for them to use. As a result, the character on the cover is in black and white.

This is the lowest we've ever seen Saiki, IIRC.
All of the New Power Generation series will release their June volumes on the same day.
Neondroid figurines for several Jump protagonists (and occasionally one extra) have been announced. These include series that have ended.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL (Monthly)
Starting this issue, they're giving us the author comments from the Japanese ToC for the series they cover. This time around, these are what was said:
Eiichiro Oda (One Piece): After five years on the job, my editor, Hattori, is leaving me. Thanks so much! And now I'm back with Onishi!
Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (Toriko): The one-shot Mukomizu-kun that appeared in issue 11 [in Japan] was great! So good! So hurry up and get serialized!
Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto): Our beloved cat has really become spoiled lately. It refuses to eat the diet foods...
Naoshi Komi (Nisekoi): My father managed to get a Nisekoi Fumo Fumo Soine Strap [Nisekoi Cozy Sleeping Pillow Cell Phone Strap]. (Embarassed)
Tite Kubo (Bleach): Ran into fellow manga artist Oishi and he gave me Dragon Quest VII as a gift. Why...?
Daisuke Ashihara (World Trigger): I'm shorthanded on assistants, so temporary support staff helps me every week. I'm grateful.
KAITO (Cross Manage): I bought an alarm clock. A really loud one. It woke up my assistants sleeping in the other room, but not me...

The Disaster of Psi Kusuo Saiki - I keep on forgetting to look into this.
I sympathize with Naruto's mangaka. Very hard to make a cat eat something it doesn't want to it.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.
Ouch for Kiruko.
Also, and again - how do you post items in a list without spaces in between them?
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines.
