Headcrabs can hide pretty easily, and if you miss one that gets into your blind spot. . . ouch. Seriously, it isn't always easy to clear an area before getting fired on by something that merits a BFG.

How often does that even overlap though?
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonIn Surface Tension? ALL THE GODDAMN TIME. And a rocket launcher is very useful against both Gonarch and Nihilanth (If they keep the boss battles in their current forms).

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. It's not that much of a problem, because, at that point, you have more than enough ways to kill a headcrab. At that point, you will have: a crowbar, a Glock 17, a Colt revolver, an MP5 (with M203 attached), a Franchi SPAS-12, hand grenades, satchel charges, laser tripmines, and last, but not least, a fucking hand-held particle accelerator.
Again, how is a rocket launcher's size going to affect stuff? It's supposed to be used on tanks, helicopters, and alien behemoths.

Give me cute or give me...something?FINALLY! I have been waiting so long for this, and despite a few minor things, this mod looks like it will be one of the best ever and far exceed even Half Life 2 in every possible way. I cannot overstate how excited I am to step back into Black Mesa. Now we play the waiting game...

...Initial Release has No xen level. Awwww.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans....where you getting that from?
...Straight from the horses mouth
...
Why?
...Xen is apparently going to be a standalone from the mod.
An expansion pack so to say
Something about making it Not-Terrible.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. Why bother with Xen in the first place? That is the bit of the game where I really think Valve dropped the ball in the original title.
I loved the Xen sections.
...Well, Xen definitely has atmosphere to it, gameplay notwithstanding.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI loved Xen, Thougt I would be grateful if thwy remove the railroad section
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/I liked the railroad section too.
...Count me in on the "I like Xen" club. I get that most people thought the first person platforming is a pain, but I honestly never had a problem with it, maybe because I grew up on platformers. The area itself has a nice, mysterious atmosphere as well. The railway drove me insane the first time I played through Half-Life, but it's grown on me over subsequent playthroughs. As much as I'd like to see the Black Mesa version of Xen, Lambda core's a good enough stopping point, especially since most people would just be happy with a single-level demo at this point. The fact that even an incomplete version has a release date means it's doing better than Episode 3.

Half Life 2 is a daily deal with 66% off. I am going to asume that is because of the close release of Black Mesa and keep my Tin Foil Hat for Episdoe 3/Half Life 3 of.

I saw the daily deal and thought "What if this is for Episode 3?" Then, I went to the Half-Life 2 steam forum to see what other people had to say about it, which is where I found out that BMS has a release date. Either way, at least one piece of vaporwear is coming out. I know Episode 3 is a long shot, of course, but any news related to Half-Life is exciting.

Chances of these modders being employed by Valve before a year has gone by?
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!Xen was the weakest part of Half Life for me, but that's more a function of the rest of the game being really awesome. Xen was still a decent change of pace and dynamics.
Maybe. They hired MINERVA's designer, but in his case he was creating completely new content from their toys, while the Black Mesa team is rehashing (from an absolute perspective anyway, I am aware that they would have to create lots of content to accomplish their vision anyway).
Depends on how good BM is. I'm almost insane with excitement, but the possibility of it being bad has to be taken into account.
Nthed on Xen. I actually believe it's one of the most atmospheric videogame levels I've ever played.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars. My brother can't get why anybody would want to play this game, when he could just support Valve and buy the original. *facepalm*
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenHave you tried telling him he could do both?
Wouldn't you take out the infantry who are a lot more capable of getting in range of you before you take on armor/helicopters? If there's no one that can sneak up on you, what does it matter if you have a blind spot or not?
