I mean, Mario already beats up Bowser Jr. all the time. It's nothing new for him.

I love that scene. And it's totally optional, too, so it's just a neat little secret for people who think to check in with the kid after getting Geno.

I already have max coins and I only grinded for like an hour trying to do 30 Super Jumps.

Then there's stuff like getting item freebies, KO enemies for boosts or repeat turns, the super strong accessories.

I knew the game was easy, I've only ever gotten a Game Over on the first Croco fight, but jeez.

To be fair, the Geno segment of the game is pretty easy. The difficulty spikes up around Marrymore and never really falls back down.

So i got a question about Mario's voice actor, Charles Martinet.

I saw this video about him where said something interesting.

In the video, he says he plays Super Mario games with his kids but i remember one time when he was interviewed by Conan O'Brien at E3 that he said he was still single. So is Charles married and has kids or he was still single at the time during the E3 interview but later got married and have kids?

So is there any benefit to racing against Boshi? I won but didn't get anything.

YO I DID 44 SUPER JUMPS

Please tell me that it counts and I don't have to wait until later for the reward conditions to be activated or something.

If you beat Boshi, easily the hardest part of the game, you get to gamble cookies on Yoshi races.

Bowser get!

How awesome was it in 1996 to play a Mario game where Bowser was on your side? I wish we got a dedicated Bowser platformer someday.

Also I think Level 10 is super overleveled for Booster Tower because enemies are doing all of one damage to me.

Defeating Boshi simply allows you to gamble cookies on future races. You can eventually get a neat item by feeding cookies to the fat baby Yoshi there, but otherwise it's mostly just a "fun" minigame.

I'm pretty sure the Super Jump challenge guy keeps track of your highest record retroactively, so you should be able to claim the 30 jump reward as soon as you get to Monstro Town.

As for damage, Bowser joins with pretty solid defense so that might be part of why you're taking low damage, but also the enemies in Booster Tower just don't hit very hard; the Spookums deal most of their damage via magic, not physical attacks, and the Orb Users are clerics, not fighters. Try getting bitten by a Chain Chomp.

I bought everyone Work Pants in Moleville so that might be part of it.

So here's something weird I just noticed. You know the iconic image of Exor standing in Bowser's Castle? For some reason, on the Wii's channel images, Exor is blacked out so all you see is Bowser's Castle.

I now regret saying this game was too easy because I'm getting my ass kicked by a giant cake.

I'm drowning in FP recovery items so I brought Mallow along to the Sea dungeon to spam Thunderbolt. So far it is going well.

Poor Geno was ignored all through Booster Tower and now this.

Hurray I finally pulled off Geno Whirl. I can't decide whether that or Geno Flash should be his Final Smash.

I hope whoever designed the 3D maze in the Sunken Ship was knocked down by an overly affectionate St. Bernard.

So after Bundt proved to be a difficult boss Johnny is a total pushover and he does single digit damage even when I'm not blocking.

Had Mallow spam Shocker on Yaridovich so he went down pretty easy, though at least he was doing actual damage.

And I forgot to grab the Masher at Booster Tower so now I have the roughly equivalent Troopa Shell.

So the Captain Toad ports are technically missing content and change the ending (spoilers). Didn't embed the video since the thumbnail has spoilers for the original version's ending.

Not a huge loss all things considered, but still worth noting.

Against Johnny, did you engage him one-on-one as Mario?

Also, now that you have Marrymore on the map, next time you have 200-299 coins and don't mind spending them, you should try sleeping in the deluxe suite there then overstaying your welcome by several nights. tongue

Yeah, he still did single digit damage. Yaridovich was a bit tougher but I admittedly cheesed him by bringing Mallow into the fight.

Yeah, you sound overlevelled if Johnny couldn't even scratch you in red mode. Maybe skip some of the enemies in Land's End? Unless you don't mind plowing through anything.

By the way, if you climb up Booster Tower again, you can find Knife Guy juggling balls about halfway up. Keep playing his insidious game and he'll eventually reward you with a Bright Card to get into Grate Guy's casino.

My team is between Level 14-15. Is that overleveled for Land's End?

What do I have to be for Culex and Jinx?

Also what the heck was Knife Guy and Grate Guy's deal? Why were they in Booster Tower? Why did they attack the party?

It's been a while since I played, so I don't remember what levels are recommended for which areas of the game.

But presumably Knife Guy and Grate Guy work for Booster, just like the Snifits.

Captain Toad Switch is having physical stock issues in Japan.

I tried avoiding the enemies at Land's End but I kept running into them and they gave over 30 EXP a battle so I think next time I play SMRPG I won't look up optimum stat growth charts.

Here's a fun fact: In Mario RPG characters that aren't in your party earn the same amount of exp as characters in your party, and downed characters earn exp. There's an item that you can equip that lets you earn more exp than the other characters. So, one time when I played through the game, (which I did a lot) I used the Exp Booster and kept passing it around my party, getting into fights with low level enemies, until I had every single character have the exact same amount of exp as everyone else.

@tclittle I think Nintendo is underestimating the demand for physical releases in general. Octopath Traveler is having similar problems. Maybe it's because the system can only hold 32GB of space, and 128 more with an SD card. That's not much, considering modern file sizes.

[up] make that 2 TB more, since it was said at the beginning that the Switch would be able to support those too once they are actually commercially available (they're not yet, afaik)

Holy crap a boss actually had me on the ropes.

Admittedly it was because it kept casting Petal Blast over and over, but it actually KO'd Geno! That's better than everyone else so far!

Sounds like the Smilax.

Petal Blast is a pretty dangerous move. I think there's only four other enemies in the game who use it, all bosses.
