But Snake is okay with fighting. He even likes it. That was a big point of MGS 1. He couldn't admit that a part of him needs the conflict and action but the events of Shadow Moses makes him a more whole human being, including admitting how much he is a soldier at heart.

And then in 2 he's learned to harness that into a good cause that he believes in. Hence possibly the most iconic line in MGS.

"Fighting was the only thing I was good at. But at least I always fought for what I believed in."

That only applies to MGS 2.

He's good at it and he does enjoy it, but he also knows it's wrong to create a world where people like him are in high demand.

And aside from all that, he really is just sick of Metal Gears.

Enjoying fighting (like, war fighting) isn't exactly what I would call healthy. Either with Big Boss or David, no matter much more morally upstanding the latter is about it.

And David at least never lets himself forget that.

Ironically, I think that actually is why Solid is able to live a more fulfilling life than the others. Solid considers it a character flaw rather than a lifestyle.

He rejects the Proud Warrior Race thing that Big Boss adopted.

Interesting how Snake came to that conclusion compared to Liquid, Solid, and Big Boss himself.

Heck, Snake was raised as a soldier same as Liquid and Solidus.

Not sure about Big Boss's pre-Naked Snake days.

All we really know about Big Boss' early years is that he was born in 1935 and got involved with The Boss and the Korean War in June 1950 when he was still just 15.

We know he's biracial but I'm taking that being raised by the Boss from 15 is pretty much all we need to know about his backstory.

Big Boss being Japanese-American was from the 1998 Metal Gear Solid: Official Mission Handbook, which also had him fighting in the 442nd Infantry Regiment during WWII.

All that of course has been tossed out as of Snake Eater; Solid and Liquid having Japanese ancestry comes from Paramedic's assistant who donated her eggs for the Les Enfants Terribles project.

I do wonder if the Snake children inherited anything from EVA.

That would be a better way to explain them having eastern heritage than Paramedic being.... actually I have no words for that.

I also remember the old lore from the localization of MGS 1 that Liquid was raised by Big Boss personally and was a shitty dad. Which is a better explanation for why Liquid hates him IMO.

I find Big Boss being biracial and from Hawaii is the least weird origin for mixed race heritage.

Which is why its probably not true.

If they're clones of Big Boss, presumably they took the eggs, removed the haploid nuclei, and inserted diploid nuclei from some of BB's cells. The closest thing they would have to genetic material from their egg donor is their mitochondrial DNA.

So it's dangerous to get into real science in this series but lately for my own researches I've been reading a bit about various conditions and theories on how they are genetics or environmental.

One of the last things I read was stressing the importance of testosterone shaping the male brain in uterus and immediately after birth. But my point is, what happens in the uterus is important, right? Different chemicals and stuff from the mom's body affects the baby?

So Liquid and Solid were in Eva, and Solidus might have been in his own mom. Even as clones of BB, does not their period in a womb do something to them that would alter them from being just pure BB clones?

I never thought of this till now.

Also are we sure the Twins didn’t inherit anything from EVA? I have the feeling that Eva would have liked some of her genes in the children she was carrying.

I honestly thought for a while that Liquid having blond hair was something he inherited from EVA but it was just from his time in Iraq.

I would assume science-schmience PARASITES NANOMACHINES SON RULES OF NATURE whatever chemicals affect a baby in the uterus were modified during the cloning that produced Les Enfants. I mean, everything else in Metal Gear Science works along the lines of "we altered your DNA and threw in some baby spinach" so why not.

Kidding aside, I am curious about this as well.

Something about the sun’s intense rays turning his hair blond. Also it came from a handbook.

And even if it’s non-canon or not like Big Boss being Japanese American, it’s retconned anyway since Eli is blond.

That's a weird argument since we have Kazuhara Miller.

You know, the man who looks exactly like Liquid.

Nothing in-utero would change their DNA.

If they included Eva's DNA as well as BB's, they wouldn't be clones, they'd just be children.

Mind you, the whole "Dominant Genes" thing makes no sense with Clones but Kojima has said that its nonsense since then.

Like Kaz is half American half Japanese and his dad was the blond, while Liquid is a clone of a brunette but is blond.

Y’all do remember EVA was a surrogate, right? She carried the pregnancy but the eggs (and relevant mitochondrial DNA) were donated by an assistant of Dr. Clarke / Paramedic. That’s where Solid and Liquid’s “ancestry” comes from.
