You pause for a moment to gather your thoughts. You have just awakened inside a chapel and found a dead woman. The back of your head is still hurting, and you can't quite seem to remember anything that happened over the past 24 hours. However, the car seems familiar to you, so it would be safe to assume it's yours. Given that you've witnessed a crime scene, you should probably alert the authorities, lest suspicion be drawn to you when they find that you've been here and that you failed to report this. Luckily, you remember how to reach the police station by car.

You arrive at the police station's parking lot. You exit your vehicle and enter the station. Inside you find a desk with a bored-looking woman sitting behind it. On the wall behind her desk is a large bulletin board with six wanted posters on it. To the left of the desk is a door with the words "OFFICE OF CHIEF STING" written on it. The door to the right of the desk bears a much simpler label: "JAIL".

You look at what appears to be some of the least useful wanted posters in the world. Five of them are blank, with no mugshot or description of the wanted person in question. The only information available on them are their aliases: "Red Manalishi", "Blue Manalishi", "Yellow Manalishi", "Green Manalishi", and "Black Manalishi".
Only the sixth poster bears any useful information. Depicted is a drawing of the wanted person gathered from witness reports: a man wearing a biker cap and sunglasses, dressed in more leather than even you. His name is Hal Ford, and the poster suggests that he is the leader of a violent biker gang called the Freewheel Burners. Information leading to the arrest of these leather rebels will be met with a handsome monetary reward.

You approach the receptionist and say "I would like to report a possible murder." She looks up at you, and you're briefly reminded of that scowling librarian you had to put up with in high school. She picks up a phone on her desk and makes a call. After a few minutes, you hear her speak to you for once.
"Chief Sting wants to see you in his office. It's on the door to your left."

The chief of the police looks a bit startled at your entrance, but clears his throat and motions for you to sit down. You do so and he looks to you from across his desk.
"You wanted to report a murder? What do you have on it?"

- A. "I have here a gun and a bloodsoaked veil from the scene of the crime."
- B. "I was knocked unconscious and I came to in a small chapel nearby, where I discovered a woman's body."
- C. "What's with the blank posters in the reception area?"
- D. "Actually, I have nothing more to say right now."

Sting leans forward with interest. "The chapel nearby? Why, there's only one chapel within a ten mile radius of here, so I know which one you mean!" He immediately grabs a walkie-talkie from his desk and speaks into it. "Major Tom, get your unit to the chapel pronto!"

Sting looks back to you through his sunglasses, grinding his cigarette between his teeth. "You wouldn't happen to have lifted anything off of the scene of the crime already, would you?"

Sting sighs discontentedly, as though the posters were troubling him. "Have you heard of the Manalishi crime family? They've been all over the news, causing all sorts of trouble here in Paradise City. I've been on their trail for a year now, but I still have yet to get a solid lead on their whereabouts or identities. And now, with all the incidents that went down tonight, your little murder scene included, my boys are all too tied up to investigate!"
You try to think of a response, but come up with nothing. As you turn to leave, Sting stops you.
"Hey, wait a minute, you're one of them Starbreakers, aren't you!? Boy, I bet your mates are wondering where you are!" He pulls a flyer out from his desk and slides it over to you. It is an advertisement for a rock band called the Starbreakers, who are performing tonight at the Paradise Theater. You immediately recognize one of the band members to be yourself, and pocket the flyer for reference.

You return to the reception area.

"Our roadies were hauling all our equipment. Only doing their job, right? Well, we split up and they were supposed to be arriving here by driving on the Midnight Highway, but that road's the biker gangs' haunt. We suspect they may have something to do with why they haven't shown up yet, but it's only speculation at this point. I hear that the gang is also often seen at the Lonely Hearts Club. If I were brave or stupid enough to find out about a dangerous gang, I'd go there myself and ask the owner. You know where that is, right? Of course."
