Just writing this post will probably attract trolls and flamers, but I was wondering if there are any good imageboards/memesites for Black people? (yes, it can TOO exist (D_D)). I have a pretty good sense of humor and can take most black/dark humor, but for obvious reasons, I would like alternatives to 4chan :P

Yes, there are nerdy Black people who like internet memes, imageboards, and computers....LOL

HURR DURR I DUN WANNA GO TO WHITEY IMGBOARDS THEY ALL RACIST

In all seriousness though - why not go to existing imageboards? They are not white-only, they are general audience. Yes, there is some racist humour there but (in most of cases) it's just humour, if you don't mind general offensive content you shouldn't mind offensive content about groups you belong to (Image Boards have something offensive for everyone). And if you have problem with the fact that they are not oriented on black culture then why are you here? TV Tropes is not about black culture either. The truth is, there are black people on 4chan and they just don't mind the controversial content. And if you have problems with offensive things in general then imgboards are not for you. Also, if you're afraid of chans being places filled with child porn, gore and malware - they really aren't

I wasn't trying to offend anyone...I do visit other imageboards and I really like TV Tropes but I was just wondering if there were other things. For example, there is a website called Blacknerd.net that specifically makes fun of hip hop culture by mocking them in the context of black people who hate mainstream hip hop but appreciate underground hip hop. But of course, this isn't really an open imageboard, it is more of a blog. I have tried searches, but I couldn't really find what I was looking for which is why I asked the question in the first place.

I wasn't trying to "be special" or ask for special treatment, but I figured, "Hey, this is the internet. there is a niche for everyone." I guess I was wrong.

The kind of niche I was thinking of were people who were fans of things like the Boondocks, liked internet memes, and liked analyzing black culture in the context of these memes. Maybe I phrased this in the wrong way, but among my Black, White, and Asian friends, they call some of the things I like (the Boondocks, hip hop, etc.) as being "black culture" despite it attracting a wide range of people.

As I said, I can take black/dark humor (I like shows like Family Guy, South Park, and Drawn Together), but I would rather not go to a place where the running joke (and by running joke, I mean essentially what the most people partake in)is to make fun of black people and other races using the most common stereotypes and slurs imaginable even if the people claim they are just joking.

I understand that many people just "troll" and think it is funny, and I can understand that to a certain extent. But that is the thing: It can be funny to me, but often, it is more funny to them then it is to me and I was just wondering if there was a place if there was a sense of humor that I can attach to.

I really am sorry if I offended anyone or came off as a racist. I can assure you that I am not and I just wanted to know where I fit in? I don't really fit on 4chan and since I am not Japanese, I don't really fit on 2chan (which was the model that 4chan was based off of) and that is the only mainstream site of its kind that I can think of. I guess I fit on TV Tropes, but I wanted to know if there were other options (now that I asked this question, maybe I am not so welcome anymore...)

All I asked were some recommendations for what niche I can belong to since I originally thought that the internet is for everyone to find a place, but I guess I was wrong.<<<hides in a corner and apologizes>>...sad

EDIT: [up] I don't make it a rule to go to "black-only places" (that's really dumb).I do know some Black people who frequent 4chan but although they thought the experience was ok, I just wasn't so sure it would be for me. You are telling me that that is what I should expect from all imageboards, but that is what i am trying to say. I'm not so sensitive where every single somewhat racist joke offends me that I can't look at any site for the fear of being made fun of...that is not what I am trying to say at all. It just seems that in many places like 4chan it is more pervasive then others.

That is all I am saying. If what I am asking is so stupid/naive/wrong/racist/ or just flat out unreasonable, then fine. Thank you for telling me, I will attempt to delete this thread (if that doesn't work then I will abandon it) we can pretend this never happened, everyone can go on with their lives, and I will never, for the life of me, bring this topic up again.

I don't think everyone on 4chan is actually Japanese. In fact, I don't think anyone on 4chan is actually Japanese.

I just think that like, there should be some sort of affirmative action policy for sites. Like a quota or something. It would totally be fair. It would give everyone an equal opportunity to create websites where everyone belongs and is equal.

If the government were to become really involved with it, then they could put all offensive speech as hate speech because technically, it would be cyberbullying, which is illegal, and is therefore threatening to the people who really matter to have their voices heard (the good, non-offensive people).

I think you should instead be looking for hip-hop imageboards and Boondocks images on imageboards.

Imageboards, aside from major boards that are general-purpose, seem mostly founded to cater certain types of content, as opposed to aiming for certain audiences. The resulting audiences come due to the content.

All offensive speech should just be considered illegal because it is cyberbullying by definition. Those kinds of people don't deserve to say those things and only good, polite, people should be allowed to say what they want because they never did anything to anybody.

When is Obama gonna get on that, anyways? All of this hateful talk on imageboards and Youtube is offensive and should be outlawed. Because of that, not everyone can enjoy surfing the web. Everyone should be comfortable when using the internet and no one should ever be offended by its content.

People who use hateful speech shouldn't even be allowed to use a computer, let alone put anything out there on the internet for everyone to see. It's not like they have any contributions anyway.Only people with the right kinds of beliefs and opinions should be allowed to converse with others.

I thought hate speech is covered by free speech unless it is "fighting words" (inciting violence) or a few other categories.

That said, even if there were laws against hate speech, you would not be able to stamp it out. The only way you can decrease it is to make people grow out of it as a society; attempting to remove it by force only backfires.

Not to mention that making people angry seems to be a popular human pastime.

Yeah, well, it is totally hate speech. It hurts people's feelings and no one should ever go through life having their feelings hurt! this is why there should be an affirmative action policy for websites so that there will be more diversity and therefore less racism because racism is evilwink. All we have to do is stop people from having racist thoughts, and part of that is through the internet because that is where all of the racists gather. When is Obama gonna get on this? What was that "freedom of speech" clause in anyway, the Magna Carta?wink

> no one should ever go through life having their feelings hurt!

I hope you are kidding about this.

While I don't like hurting (most) people's feelings, I think you should have picked a different line of reasoning. Having one's feelings hurt is part and parcel of a healthy and normal human experience.

> this is why there should be an affirmative action policy for websites so that there will be more diversity

Affirmative action does not work that way. It pertains to hiring people.

People want jobs in order to have an income for a living. There is no such drive to join an imageboard.

> All we have to do is stop people from having racist thoughts

Your implications of thought-control are slightly disturbing.

> and part of that is through the internet because that is where all of the racists gather.

No, some of them don't use the internet, and they and some of the ones that do also gather in meatspace.

> What was that "freedom of speech" clause in anyway, the Bill of Rights?

Yes. The First Amendment, in fact.

Yeah, well Affirmative Action should just be implemented in every facet of society until there is no more racism. Since there is still racism, that means that AA hasn't done its job very well.wink

Come to think of it, a lot of countries are still racist too. The UN should embargo all of them until they agree with our standards and opinions and then if they don't agree then we should send in troops. It is the American way. wink

Meh, I'm ending this now because I'm getting seriously bored. To be honest, I could care less if there was a "Black Imageboard" (puh-leeze). I knew that this would be unpopular as hell and wanted to see what people's responses would be (and then later to play the oversensitive PC type who thinks everyone is out to get them).

Of course I know about the First Amendment to the Constitution. It's one of the best things about a free democracy and it makes the internet as awesome as it is.

99% of what I posted were so obnoxiously naive and stupid I was surprised that anyone believed it (my name is Gr3mlinify and I have a ridiculously flame-bait avatar). Oh well. This was my social experiment and now I see what the results were, so I am pretty satisfied and will never see a reason to do this again. tongue

One of the hints was that I later changed The Bill of Rights to the Magna Carta (the charter for popular sovereignty under the English royalty).

Oh yeah: and I'm not really a huge fan of hiphop (the new kind anyway).

I see that the lack of trolling/flaming (despite the creation of an IJBM thread about this) seems to have bored you. :P

I am vaguely amused that you went to a greater extent than I did at doing a test-trolling. I failed to create a userpage.

Yeah. To be perfectly honest, before joining this site, I never tried trolling, but I decided to use a "trollish-sounding handle" just for the fun of having one since some of my friends are really into it (My account is approx. 6 months old). After finally trying it now, I think I'm pretty satisfied and won't be doing it anymore (at least not on TV Tropes wink).

I hope no one took this too seriously though. It was just a test tongue

EDIT: wow, I never even visited that site until you just posted it. Interesting.

Ah. I thought they just renamed it as "Headscratchers". Didn't know they relocated it to a thread, though. I guess I will have to start checking troper news more often.
