So yeah. How do I get them to attack who I'm attacking?

Left on the D-Pad.

I've pressed that button before. I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to be honest.

Well, now I know.

Once you hear your character tell the others to do it and they respond, you'll know it'll have worked.

So there's a visual cue? Ok.

Do I just press it quickly, or do I hold it down or something? I was always pretty focused on the battle, so if they said anything when I pressed the button, I never noticed.

I believe you just press it. The characters themselves will say to "Focus on this one" and the rest of the party will respond, as they did in the first game and X (minus the first part for the former). It's more of an audible cue than anything.

Dammit. Twice I was able to get one of the Ghost Elma's down and started reviving party members.

Managed to kill all the ghosts, and then piled on the elemental orbs....but I screwed up and didn't maintain the darkness orbs for sealing reinforcements and she hit me with it again, sealing up my party gauge a second time.

I more or less got my strategy down. Spam the evasion art that Corvin has (with Morag in this case, though now I wish I'd put him on Zeke since Zeke's version is aoe). I occasionally slip in something else, but I mostly just use that.

It's worked, but not without difficulty. Elma pretty much always manages to kill the other members of the party first, and it's a race against time. It would have if I could keep all the aggro on Morag, but they refuse to target only her.

I gotta defend against her own BTLS combo as well.

Double post.

I've come close three times.

Been able to kill all the clones, and even build a few elemental orbs on Elma prime.

But I always botch it: I either don't keep up the Sealing of her reinforcements well enough, or in the case of the last one, she uses an attack that drains my party gauge. And since it takes so long to wear down her health, I don't dare risk using it too early, because then she's wrecks me pretty easily.

That, and she keeps managing to launch Rex and Nia...and then it's Shadow Strike, and they're gone. Losing someone early makes it super tough, since it takes even longer to kill one of the clones. I thought I could prevent it by getting break resist (since you have to break before you can topple, before you can launch) and it seemed like it was working, but she still managed to get them both.

I need to keep their attention on Morag, since she's constantly using evasion, but that seems impossible too.

If you have Burst Symbol equipped to everyone, then you only needs 2 orbs to kill Elma with a Chain Attack.

I usually get at least three to four orbs on average, and often need 5 to build up to a full burst. That's very good to hear.

Where do I get it (that is, if I don't have it already).

And next, how do I stop her from launching me?

Use an Evasion Art or Lv.3 Blade Combo when you see her Launch Art.

Burst Symbol is found in Temperantia.

That helps Morag, but Rex and Nia need something else. The reason I can keep the battle going for so long is because I keep using her evasion art, but that works until the target the other two.

I need a way to get the enemy focused on Morag, or keep them from being able to launch those two.

I take it the aggro up arts aren't enough for that?

Nope. No matter what, the enemy is always targeting Nia and Rex as well. I've given them Aggro down stuff as well, but I can't keep the opponents focused on Morag.

Maybe I need better ones.

[up][up]Aggro up arts deal so little DPS that they don't gain that much aggro.

Whoo. Still having issues. Tried a new strategy where I put some orbs on regular Elma first, ending with a darkness orb, then switched to the Ghost Elmas. My hope was that by doing so, I could save myself the trouble of having to set orbs on her later on and risk her summoning clones again. Once I start fighting the ghosts, I just spam Corvin's Evasion art (since when you seal reinforcements on one, you seal them all apparently) and wear it down with level 1, 2 and 3 arts, while avoiding setting a new seal.

Unfortunately, Rex keeps dying earlier, which screws up my strategy. I may need give him some different items. I feel like this one could work. It'll take a while (I need to find a way to do damage faster, cause it's a battle in and of itself to just take out one Ghost Elma), but I feel like it can work combined with the other strategies I'm trying.

The funny thing about this is...as frustrating as it is, I still prefer it to trying to draw KOS-MOS. At least with this, I know it's a matter of what I do. Once again, the fact that I have zero control over whether I get KOS-MOS or not is the truly frustrating part.

I'd take tedium over frustration any day.

What I did was just use a Dark blade combo and didn't use anything else, to make sure those clones would never come back. The battle really took a long time, but I survived. If you can get rid of the clones by the time one of your mates dies, you can revive them eventually.

I beat the battle in less than 5 minutes on Normal Mode, so it's not that long unlike the final challenge.

You can improve your skill and get better at Elma: Redux. You cannot improve your RNG and get better at KOS-MOS.

Bah. Rex keeps dying before I can put three orbs on Elma...or before I can kill one of the ghosts.

With him gone, my ability to quickly damage the ghosts goes down. I don't know why he's dying so fast though.

You should focus on killing the ghosts before applying the second orb.

And as I said, two orbs are enough if you have Burst Symbols.

Do you have Avante-Garde Medals? That should help you survive somewhat.

That may be a good idea. So I'll hit her with one orb, and then switch to the ghosts.

Maybe after I've killed a ghost, I'll switch back and then add another orb to her, then do a seal again. Then again after that, but that's risky though. If I screw up, she just ghost factory's my ass again.

I need to come up with the best strategy. It's a matter of applying enough orbs to really lay into her once the ghosts are gone. I want to hit her as soon as possible. As it stands, I may just have to stick with one orb and then just stick with laying into them slowly.

Edit: [up] Yeah, I gave them to Rex and Nia...and the former is still dying. Morag does not have one because I'm Evading most of the time, but she still lasts longer.

The gameplan is kinda like this.

Use Dark Seal on Elma

Focus on the Ghosts.

Once you kill the Ghost, time your second Blade Combo (preferably a Light Orb) so that you can finish it by the time your Party Gauge is full.

Once you apply the Light Orb, don't apply the Dark Seal again, instead immediately initiate a Chain Attack.

Alternatively, don't apply the Light combo at all, just wail on Elma and use the Party Gauge for revival. Solo Elma doesn't have as threatening damage output, and you should recover Party Gauge quickly.

That might need to be my strategy. It's just a monotonous grind.

I actually did kinda try that, putting a seal on either Normal Elma or one of the ghosts (again, sealing one seals them all it seems).

Then my issue becomes keeping everyone alive long enough to actually start killing the ghosts. It's a real chore because they soak up so much fucking damage, and if even one person dies, I'm screwed.

Again, if I could get them to focus on Morag (since I'm just evading all the time), that'd help, but they're going after everyone. And then there's that damned launch arte. Once they get one of us in the air, that's it.

I'll figure something out, but it'll take a while.

Burst Symbols are also really handy for Chain Attack overkills for the sake of SP farming outside the Land of Challenge. So keep 'em.
